Control Freaks May Blog Tour!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Control Freaks Blog Tour for May 2013. The focus this month is on the goodies from the new 2013-2014 Catalog! I’m really liking the new stuff that I have had the chance to play with and my wish list is growing every time I look through the catalog again, and again! If you are following the tour you have arrived here form the incredibly talented Connie Babbert’s blog. She always has such amazing projects! Today I have two cards and a 3D project for you so let’s get to them!

First up is a card that is basically a one layer card. I used the Wildflower Meadow Background Stamp and my Stampin’ Write Markers to color it in. The colors are Gumball Green, Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Primrose Petals. After I stamped the image I used the coordinating Wildflower Meadow Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to perfectly emboss the entire stamped image, how cool is that?! The only thing left to do is to stamp the greeting from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set in Pool Party and mount it to a piece of Pool Party Card Stock. It’s a great stamp/embossing folder combo and markered it has big impact!

My second card uses the new Mosaic Madness Stamp Set with the coordinating Punch and Designer Series Paper. The main panel of the card has the border form the Mosaic Madness Stamp Set stamped in Strawberry Slush. The Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper is punched out on the top and bottom with the Mosaic Punch along with the ones on either side which were embossed with the Modern Mosaic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and then stamped. The greeting is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set and has the ends flagged. There are some Basic Jewels Rhinestones on the greeting and the mosaics. Everything is stamped in Strawberry Slush which is a new In-Color. I love the monochromatic look of the card and the greeting is one of my favorites form the set.

My last project is a 3D one. I wanted to show off the new In-Colors and I thought that a vase full of flowers would be a good way to do it. All of the flowers are punched out with the Fancy Flower Punch. I used my hot glue gun to assemble them and also to fix the Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons in their center. The tag on the vase also includes the two brand new colors that are added to the color families, Smokey Slate and Soft Sky. The friends is from the You’re Amazing Stamp Set, which is also in the new catalog. I really like the new In-Colors, Costal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush and Smoky Slate is fast becoming a favorite too.

Hey, what’s up?! How are things by you? Things here are ok. It was chilly again today but it’s supposed to be a little warmer tomorrow but we are to have some rain again. Today’s post – Paper Craft Crew Design Team Sketch #42…

I’m liking when things are slightly askew on cards more and more. The base of my card is Pear Pizzaz Card stock. I used the Petals-A-Plenty Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on some Island Indigo for the background. The paper is from the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper Pack*. The large greeting is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set* and is stamped in Night of Navy. I used the 7/8″ Scallop Circle punch to create the flower and a Vintage Faceted Designer Button is in the center. The happy birthday is from the Wishes Your Way Stamp Set. Mojo 293 & Sneak Peek

Why are Monday’s always so difficult?! Let me tell you that a three day weekend makes them even harder! Oh, and it felt like fall here again today. What is up with that?! Yoo hoo… Mother Nature, we are supposed to be getting warmer now thanks! I saw that someone said they had snow yesterday! Yikes!

Today’s post – Mojo Monday, a sketch from Julee Tilman…

I have to say that so far out of all of the new stuff I’m thinking that the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper* is my favorite! It has some great colors and I love the vintage graphic feel to it. The base of my card is Island Indigo Card Stock and the background is Very Vanilla stamped with the Woodgrain Background Stamp in Early Espresso. I used the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on some Early Espresso on top of that. The piece of Summer Starfruit and the Island Indigo Circle are pierced with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and the flags are made using the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. The circle of Designer Series Paper is Soho Subway* and the greeting is from the Label Love Stamp Set* and is punched out with the Artisan Punch*. I made my “bow” with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and the 1/2″ Circle Punch. With a Soda Pop Top in the middle and the No. 1 from the Postage Collection Host(ess) Stamp Set* it completes the card. I managed to use the Postage Collection Stamp Set again and I’m a little bummed that the Soda Pop Tops didn’t carry over. What are you going to miss? Paper Players 145 :-) & Sneak Peek

Hello there! Thanks for stopping by to see me today, how has your weekend been. Mine has been stellar! I had off of work on Friday and I crafted for about nine hours yesterday. It rained almost all day so it was the perfect day to be creative. I plan on being crafty again today too! It’s Sunday so that means its time for this week’s Paper Players!

This week we have a color challenge from Jaydee…

I have to admit that I had a little trouble with these colors at first. I decided that I would use some new goodies to jump start the creative juices. The base of the card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I cut off 1 1/2 from the front after I used the Distressed Dots Background Stamp. The panel on the right is embossed with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The paper on the left is from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. The greeting is from the Label Love Stamp Set* and is punched out with the Artisan Label Punch*. All of the large postage stamps are from the Postage Collection Host(ess) Stamp Set* and the small ones are from the Lovely Little Labels Stamp Set, I let them hang over the edge for a little something different. The Postage Collection set is great because it’s a builder set, you can make the stamps the way you want. I was inspired by my friend Sandy to cut off some of the front of the card, it’s a nice change from the usual. Fab Friday 18 & Sneak Peek

A very happy to Friday to you all! I’m off today and am going to do some cleaning, crafting and relaxing. I look at a day off as a chance to catch up on some neglected things. Cleaning as of late has been neglected and relaxing is always neglected, the crafting is just a necessity! The weather here today was torrential downpours and then some sun. It was alittle muggy but not cold so I’m ok with that!

Today’s post – Fab Friday Design Team 18 Color Challenge…

The idea for this card started out with wanting to punch the new alphabet out with the new Mosaic Punch and grew from there. The base of the card is Soft Suede. The middle consists of some Print Poetry Designer Series Paper, Summer Starfruit embossed with the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and some Primrose Petals stamped with the Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set. The letters are from the ABC – 123 Sketch Alphabet & Numbers Stamp Set* stamped in Raspberry Ripple and punched out with the Mosaic Punch*. I think I have mentioned how fond I am of the new alphabet, it’s a great size and I like the sketched look. Freshly Made Sketches #85 & Sneak Peek

Ahh… Thursday! For me it’s Friday! I’m off from work tomorrow! Woo hoo! It rained here yesterday for a good part of the day, and when I say rained I mean poured buckets! The sun did peek out from time to time just let us know that it was still there. Temperature wise it was pretty nice just a little on the muggy side. Are you all ready for Mother’s Day? I made 4 cards last night so I’m good!

Today’s post – Freshly Made Sketches #85, a sketch from Narelle…

You see it… there are some flags on there! The base of my card is Strawberry Slush* Card Stock. I used a piece of the Quatrefancy Designer Series Paper* across the top and embossed the rest with the Modern Mosaic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder*. The image in the middle is from the A Round Array Stamp Set that you can get now either alone or in a bundle with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. Behind it is some more Strawberry Slush* punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. Behind that is an image from the Happy Flowers Host(ess) Stamp Set” cut out with the Floral Frames Collection Framelits Dies. A 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle completes the middle and under are the flags in Pool Party and Daffodil Delight. I love the nice mix of colors in the DSP and layering the stamp from the A Round Array Set makes it seem bigger than it is. Paper Players #144 :-) & Sneak Peek

Happy Sunday! How is your weekend so far? Mine is good despite the fact that I had to work all day yesterday, I did get to rappel off of the side of a 12 story building! I thought I would be a little nervous but once you lean back over the ledge and stand there for a minute it’s all good! I had a great time and I can’t wait to do it again. Here are a few pictures, I ‘m the little dot at the top!

The last picture is my friend Danielle and I all geared up. It really was a lot of fun! Now, it’s Sunday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. This week we have a theme from Anne Marie, Mother’s Day…

Perfect timing for next week! The base of my card is Melon Mambo Card Stock. I used the Ovals Collection Framelits and a piece of Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper* to cut out a frame. In the center of the frame are images from the Secret Garden Stamp Set cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits Dies. They are stamped in Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzaz. The greeting is from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set and is stamped in Night of Navy and backed with some Night of Navy that is pierced on the edges. Today’s post – Pals Paper Arts 159, colors…

Definitely not a color combination that I would have thought of but they do go quite nicely together. I decided to have some fun with the Photopolymer Stamps. The base of my card is Pool Party. I created the background using the Show & Tell 1 & 2 Photopolymer Stamps Sets. I created a pattern in Pool Party and Lucky Limeade. The circle is Lucky Limeade and embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The image is also from the Show & Tell Sets, the letters from the Designer Typeset Alphabet. Woo hoo! The color renovation has been announced! I’m so happy that they have kept four of the five 2011-2013 In-Colors! I’m a little sad to see that Lucky Limeade didn’t make the cut but we also got some former In-Colors back too! Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzaz and Blushing Bride along with a new color Smokey Shadow. They have also moved some colors to different families and of course they are retiring some colors. Super clean and simple! The base of my card is Early Espresso. The paper in the middle is Soho Subway Designer Series Paper* and I added some Crisp Cantaloupe* that is cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelit Dies. For the large flagged piece, some more Crisp Cantaloupe* embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The thanks is from the ABC & 123 Sketch Alphabet & Numbers Stamp Set* and I stamped it a little imperfect go a little better with the Lovely Labels Stamp* that is punched out with the Artisan Label Punch*. Morning and welcome to thank god Monday is over! That was not the best day in recent memory. It was a little dreary here and rained a little on and off all day.
