Fab Friday 10

Posted on

Morning all! Happy Saturday! It is frigid here on Long Island today. We have been lucky so far with the weather but I fear our luck may have run out! I had a very nice dinner at TGI Friday’s last night with my friends Anthony and Danielle. We had some of the new Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese Dipping Sauce… WOW! That was some good stuff! I could have had that and only that for dinner. I’m off to Manhattan this morning to meet my Kimmie and have some diner breakfast. I have to be back early because I have lots of stuff to do later on! Don’t forget to stop back for the Control Freaks Blog Tour!

Today’s post is for Fab Friday. This week the folks over there have given us a five color challenge…

Fab Friday Color 10

Pool Party is my fave and I love all of the other colors too. When I saw them I immediately thought of the Dress Up Framelits Dies. The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background consists of a piece of Pink Pirouette that I stamped in Pink Pirouette with the Secret Garden Stamp Set. I rounded the corners on it and a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I used to back it. I used the Dress Up Framelits Dies to cut out the dress form from a piece of Crumb Cake and the dress from a piece of Cherry Cobbler. A piece of Creped Filter Paper is cut out with the dress framelit again for the bottom half and a piece of Pool Party 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon makes the belt. I used some butterflies that I cut out with the beautiful Wings Embosslit in Pool Party for the ones on the right and Cherry Cobbler for the buckle. The greeting is from the Petite Pretties Stamp Set** and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Pool Party and punched out with the Petite Curly Label Punch. For a little bling I used some Basic Jewels Rhinestone to form a necklace. I really like the Creped Filter Paper over card stock. It has a fabric like texture and lets some of the card stock color show through. I hope that you enjoyed my Fab Friday card for their color challenge. Thank you very much for checking in and I hope that you have a crafty day! 🙂

  3. I guess you don’t want to hear about our sunny / 65 degree weather in North Texas today huh? Sorry – I just couldn’t resist sharing. I like how you used the colors in your card – very nice!

  4. Hii Justin,
You never cease to make the perfect card! I never miss seeing them, even like today, while I’m in the hospital (long story, but things are looking up today).
Beth, I had to expand the picture to almost full screen to see the Secret Garden, but I knew if Justin said it’s there, you better believe it’s there 🙂 Such subtle accents aren’t always easy to photograph.
And Lin, no jealousy here. Even though we had a “cold snap” they tell me it’s 72 out there.
Thanks again Justin for your wonderful card ideas! They help me grow in my own designs.

    • Hello Carol! Oh no! Why are you in the Hospital, I hope that you are going to be ok. The flowers are hard to see in the picture, but they are there. I was going for a very subtle look and apparently I achieved it! LOL! I wish it was 72 here, although it’s around 48 so it’s not as bad as it has been. Thank you for visiting and I hope that you will good as new ASAP! 🙂

  6. Justin, you have an endless source of ideas! I would never have thought to make the skirt with the crepe paper. I can see the background flowers – perfect – they just take the plain look off the pink. Have a lovely day in Manhattan with Kim. I am sure the city is full of great things to see and great places to eat – I would love that!

  8. What a fun card! I would have never thought to put the crepe paper over card stock like that. It gives it a great fabric-type look which is perfect for that dress form die. Thanks for joining us at Fab Friday this week!
