Freshly Made Sketches #70

Posted on

Hello and welcome to Thursday! It is bitterly cold here and I think it’s just about time that we had a warm up! I don’t think I have been able to go outside without gloves on for three days now. I will say one thing for the cold, poor little Winston doesn’t dawdle outside, he does his business and back in he comes. I feel bad and want to get him some boots but I tried that once and he wasn’t a fan! He would take a step and shake his paw, another step another shake and on and on. Poor Mr. Winston!

Anyway, enough about my little buddy and on to today’s post which is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge. This time around we have a simple sketch from Rita…

Freshly Made Sketches #70

When I saw the sketch I immediately wanted to use a butterfly. I love butterflies and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Does it make me less of a man… possibly. LOL! I guess that’s maybe why my card turned out so masculine today. The base is a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock. A piece of paper from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack is on the left side. For the main image I stamped the ferris wheel from the Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set** in Midnight Muse and punched it out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. I backed it with a piece of Midnight Muse that I cut out with the 3″ Bigz Circle Die. For some interest I pierced around the edge using the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it in place. The greeting is from the same set also stamped in Midnight Muse. I flagged the right side and adhered it to the card with some SNAIL. This is a nice and simple card but the DSP it gives it a little oomph. A quick greeting change would make it good for almost any occasion. I hope that you enjoyed my Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card for this week. I really do appreciate you taking some time to visit and I love reading your comments! I hope that it is warmer where you are and that you have a nice day! 🙂

  3. Butterflies are summer’s snowflakes and my family’s emblem. Nevertheless, I fell in love with the images in the Feeling Sentimental stamp set, so I appreciate your card. I love your blog with the pictures of each SU item used and the list of items on your card each day. Give my regards to NYC! 4. This is a great card – love the color scheme. All I could think reading through the description was, can I get a cup of coffee with that crumb cake? It just makes me want the cake! 🙂
I will not gloat about the heat wave we are having in Texas – but I would certainly trade a few days with you. I always worry when it is this warm in January that it is a sign of a hot summer.

    • Thanks Lin! LOL, funny you mention the coffee, I always want coffee when I use Crumb Cake! I know what you are saying about the heat but it is so cold here, we haven’t had weather this cold in 2 years. Send your heat up here please!!

  5. I really like the simplicity of this card with its masculine theme. I am tossing up whether to buy this set or not. I am trying to think of the stamps used on vintage style cards – hmmmm. It is raining here but not cold. I went walking yesterday, got soaked an enjoyed every minute of it. Such a respite from all the heat we have had. Some places around had 20 inches yesterday which is a huge amount for this part of the country. Roads closed and flash flooding!

    • Thank you Jean! I love the Feeling Sentimental with Vintage Verses? I would take some rain over this freezing cold. I can imagine that it feels good after the all of the heat. Have a good day! 😉
