Now on to the good stuff! First up we have this week’s Paper Players Challenge. This week the lovely LeAnne has give us a very nice sketch…

Paper Players #156

I really like it! I also thought it would be perfect to use a new goodie that I have. The base of my card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Whisper White with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The horizontal layer is a piece of paper from the Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack* and I backed it with a piece of Old Olive. The brads are actually some “Vintage” Everyday Enchantment that I lightly sanded and heat embossed with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The vertical Layer is one of the Season of Style Designer Journaling Tags*. They are designed for the new Divided Pages in the 2013 Holiday Catalog but I thought they might work for cards too. I backed it with a piece of Baked Brown Sugar and added two thin Strips of Champagne Glimmer Paper for some sparkle. I think the journaling tag works quite well on a card and did you notice, there is no stamping! Oh no! LOL! Thank you very much for stopping by to visit and see my Paper Players Card for this week’s sketch from LeAnne. Don’t forget to scroll down and see my Display Stamper card #2! Have a great day! 🙂

  1. Once again, you have done an amazing job! Although both cards are GREAT, today I especially liked the sketch challenge. I love doing Christmas in July projects. QUESTION: If you could only have two stamp sets, what would they be? I am getting ready to pack up all my supplies for the big move back to the States. I have to downsize to 3 stamps sets, markers, my necessities (adhesive, bone folder, SAMJ, etc) and a few embellishments. Would love your input 🙂

    • Thank you Vicki! I like the Journaling Tags more than I thought I would.

That’s a tough question! I don’t know if I would be able to only have two stamp sets! Hmm… I would say that currently Hello, Lovely and Four You. I like Hello, Lovely because it has a current feel to it and the greetings in Four You pretty much cover everything. 🙂

      • Thanks for the input and being a good sport 🙂 I’ve already packed up some things, and cried like a baby LOL. This is always the hardest part of moving for me. But then I think of the day the crates come in and watching the movers unload those boxes. It’s like Christmas 😀 FYI: Hello, Lovely was already in my pile 😉

      • My pleasure Vicky! I would be crying too! But yes, when they are delivered it’s like they are new again! Good luck with the move! And I love Hello, Lovely! 🙂

  2. Great holiday card, Justin! I love how you embossed your brads, and love the journaling tags too.

  3. I missed it the first two or three times I looked at your card, but I saw it this last time – I love the use of the Northern Flurry folder int he background. I tend to not use it because I think it needs to be the focus, but I love that it just provides a lovely texture in the background here. Love this card – even the glittery component!

    • Thank you Brian! I like when Northern Flurry just peeks out. I’m with you on the glitter! As long as it’s Glimmer Paper it’s ok! Have a great day! 🙂

  4. Love your cards! Ok, where did those Christmas lights come from? I looked in my paper stack (love this) and they aren’t there! – oops! Just read your great details – gotta open my tags!

  5. I just have to thank you for using the journaling tag – I opened my pack and they’re fantastic – I see a class using the tags and the stack – no doubt you’ve thought of this already!

  6. I love your card, Justin and even though it’s July, I think it calls for Mariah Carey’s Christmas album now to help me get through clearing out my attic (when all I really want to do is make cards!).

  8. Great cards. I was about to get tired of Christmas cards, but this one really got me interested again. Love both of the cards. The Calypso Coral and Midnight Muse really look good together on your sample card.

Even though Holiday cards are my last thought right now, I love your creative explosion! The Flurry EF and the slight touch of glimmer and the DSP with the tiny lights…love it! Sadly I had little time taking pictures of the boards so I am very happy that you are showing your samples! I am loving the Grunge set and see it can be used in so many ways! TFS.
