Freshly Made Sketches #99 and Create with Connie and Mary 264

Posted on

Hmm… I wonder what day it is today? Could it be… FRIDAY?!?! Yes kids, it’s Friday, my favorite day of the week. Weather here, gorgeous. Weekend plans, Manhattan on Saturday and craftiness on Sunday! What are you people up to?

Today’s post is something I haven’t done before and that’s combine two challenges. I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the colors from Create with Connie and Mary. So here’s this week’s inspiration…

Freshly Made Sketches #99CCMC 264

For the base of my card I stamped the Travel Journal Builder Wheel in Smoky Slate on Smoky Slate Card Stock. The panel in the middle is a piece of Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper backed with some Blushing Bride. All of the elements on the card are from the Circle Card and Label Card Thinlits Dies cut from Blushing Bride. The circles are cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies from Smoky Slate. For a little sparkle I used the Small Heart Punch to punch out some Silver Glimmer Paper and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional on the i heart u. I’m really having a lot of fun playing with the new Thinlits Dies and I love that the elements work so well even when you don’t use the actual card base. Thanks so much for stopping by today to see my combined Freshly Made Sketches and Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card. As always, I appreciate your visit and hope that you have an awesome Friday! 🙂

  1. Three things I need to say about this card – (1) Travel Journal Wheel – never paid attention to it, but it’s absolutely lovely here. Consider me enabled. (2) I like the shine of glitter and glimmer paper – but only in pictures. Love the addition of the glimmer paper heart – fits so nicely inside the framelit cutout. (3) I really like how the chevrons point in balanced directions at the top and bottom of the card. Those spaces might appear to be “just filled with something,” but there’s something really cool going on there. That’s all I’ve got to say. Great card! Enjoy your day.

    • Thank you Brian! I love the Travel Journal Wheel and Glimmer Paper. I’m not a glitter fan but the paper keep the mess to minimum. The idea for the chevrons came to me while I was speaking to a good friend last night. 🙂

I hope you have a lovely day! 🙂

  2. Two challenges?! I’m so proud of you! You rocked them both, Justin. Great use of the colors, awesome card for the layout. I think I want to order these framelits just for the little greetings.

  3. I’m not a pastel type of person, so the color choice of Pistachio would not be mine. However, that being said, you nailed the design on the head and created a good use of the colors. Don’t you just love the little elements that go with the thinlits? I should be getting my Label Thinlit any day now along with my chevron punch that a few of you Bloggers have inspired me to get. Excitement abounds…Nancy B

    • Thank you Nancy! I love the Thinlits, all of the elements are great and work well without the card base! I like pastels occasionally and I thought the colors were perfect for a little love. 😉

  10. Huh…well, I didn’t think I’d use the accessories of the Thinlit card dies much, but I absolutely LOVE what you did with them, especially the chevrons! And yes, I’d totally overlooked that Travel Journal wheel, too, but it is wonderful in the background. Thanks for playing along with the color challenge this week on Create with Connie and Mary!
