Freshly Made Sketches 103

Posted on

It’s the weekend… woo hoo! I went out to dinner with my friends Bill, Anthony and Danielle to Friday’s last night and had a Long Island Iced Tea. It was much needed after I came out to go to work yesterday and discovered that someone had hit my car. I don’t understand how people can ruin something of someone else and just leave. It must be nice to not have a conscience. So yes, that was a great way to start off my day huh?! It had a nice finish so that made it a bit better. The weather here is a little crisp this morning but nice and clear, I guess Fall is on it’s way… boo! I don’t have any definite plans for the weekend, how about you?

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to mention that there have been a bunch of new items added to the Clearance Rack! You can click here to go to my On-Line Store and check them out. I placed a little order yesterday because I just couldn’t resist! 🙂

Now for today’s post I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Jen B. has given us a nice sketch…

Freshly Made Sketches #103

When I first looked at the sketch it reminded me of a formal look but I decided to go a different route. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock that I stamped randomly with the Snowflake Soiree Stamp Set in Pool Party. For the greeting I used the nice big Joy and Love Single Stamp. I stamped it in Smoky Slate and again in Island Indigo, the latter is cut out with the Deco Labels Framelits. I used a piece of Cherry Cobbler to back it and some Stampin’ DImensionals to adhere the pieces to the base. I wanted a little snowflake but opted for a piece of Cherry Cobbler punched out with the Boho Blossom Punch instead to cover up the to and from on the stamp. The paper on the right is from the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack and has the corners rounded with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. A Neutrals Candy Dot in the middle of the blossom and two Regals Candy Dots on the DSP finish off the card. I really like the new Holiday Single Stamps, they are nice and big and the Candy Dots always add that little something extra! Thanks for visiting me today to see my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. I hope that you all have a fun Saturday! 🙂

  2. Sorry about your car, Justin ….I alway say “What goes around …comes around ”
Now, on to that classy card …that piece of dsp adds some activity to your card ….does that make sense ? It so blissfull with the softness and the snowflakes and the sentiment …but pop! …you get a little pow with the dsp breaking up the lull … I like it !!

    • Thanks Sonny! I hope that stays true for whoever did it! Yes, I understand what you mean by activity, so many people I know don’t like that piece of DSP but I think it’s a little retro. So glad you enjoyed the card! 🙂

  3. Justin – I know how you feel. The first day I had my new car I went to the grocery store and some not so nice person opened their passenger side door hard into my drivers door. The car wasn’t 6 hours old and already had this nasty dent and scrapes on the drivers door. I just about cried. Take heart though, it can be repaired and look like it did before this person messed it up. Fortunately it was the car and not you. Lovely card.

    • Thanks you Grace! That is terrible, I don’t know why people can’t respect other people’s property. I was taught if you don’t want it done to you don’t do it to someone else. Have a great day! 🙂

  9. What a bummer Justin & especially on a Friday!! Something similar happened to one of my coworkers. It just takes the wind right out if your sails!! So disrespectful and thoughtless!!! Neat take on the sketch with your card though & nice touch with those snowflakes in the background!! 🙂 I hope your weekend only gets better!!

Poor thing, that’s awful! I believe in “KARMA”!!!!!
Anyway, your card is awesome!!! Make me feel like, maybe, Fall is coming!?

    • Thanks Vicki! People are just not nice. It makes you think if doing the right thing all the time is worth it. Glad you like the card. I’m hoping Karma comes through! Have a good day!

  11. Love your card! The colors are great together! Sorry about your car! I don’t understand it either, my neighbor has had his fence completely smashed twice this year and the people took off. I hope everything with your INS company goes good and they take care of it.

    • Thank you Shirley! Unfortunately I don’t have collision. It’s sad that people behave that way. I shouldn’t have to pay for someone else’s mistake but that’s the way it goes. Have a nice Sunday!
