Freshly Made Sketches 105

Posted on

Oh yeah!! It’s Friday!! I can’t complain, the week did move right along. The network issues are finally worked out at the office and I managed to catch up a bit today. I know I have said it almost every day but the weather here is just amazing this week. I would like to take this week’s weather and repeat it all year long. I will be off to Manhattan one day this weekend, not sure which one just yet. What are you up to?

My card for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. This week’s sketch is supplied by Allisa…

Freshly Made Sketches #105

I wanted to do another bokeh style card and I thought that it would make a neat background for my favorite butterfly. Bokeh refers to a term in photography for the aesthetic quality of the blur. The large soft edged and shaded dots of the circles lend themselves to this effect. The base of the card is Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock. I took a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the circles, which are done with a piece  that I saved from the Daydream Medallions Stamp Set, in Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding. The stamped panel is then equally cut into 4 pieces and adhered to the base. The butterfly is from the Best of Butterflies Stamp Set and is my favorite butterfly image that we have. I stamped it in Early Espresso and used some eyeshadow sponges to shade it. A little Paper Snip action and it’s cut out! The greeting is from the Thanks & Hello Wood Mount Stamp Set and is also stamped in Early Espresso onto Pistachio Pudding that is backed with a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the way the font in the greeting compliments the circles and I think the butterfly looks great shaded in. Thanks very much for taking time to come by and see my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I hope you all have a wonderful Friday! 🙂

  3. Justin – Love this! The colors and image are so soft and pretty. It’s a nice change from all the Fall and Christmas cards (not that I’m opposed to those). It really stands out with its Spring-like softness.

  6. Hi Justin:

I thought the butterfly popped up with dimensionals really made this card outstanding! I’m jealous that you are going into Manhattan this weekend. I used to go there once or twice a month when I lived in Connecticut. Now that I live in Maine I only get there a few times a year. I love going to the theater and the food in Chinatown cannot be equaled anywhere! Have a wonderful time.

  11. Beautiful, fresh card.
Funny [not] we have been having server and computer problems all week too! Somehow an SMTP (?) file got deleted (!?!) then the fan in the PC stopped working, making it overhead of course and at home, not sure yet what the problem is (maybe another fan too?) but my screen keeps freezing too – I mean the whole computer…. need a computer geek guy around…. know anybody Justin … LOL
P.S. I can’t believe you do not have the Elegant Butterfly punch? The only thing with it though is that it does cut off the antenna….

    • Thanks Louise! I think that computer issues thing was going around! LOL! If only I live a little closer I would come and take a look! I do have the Elegant Butterfly punch but that butterfly is too big for it! 🙂
