Just Add Ink 191

Posted on

Well, yesterday turned out to be a nice day after all. It was warm enough to skip the jacket for a while. I did some clean up in the craft area in the morning. In the afternoon I went to the gym with my buddy Andrew and then we went for a walk just because it was so nice out. There was even a little fence climbing, I haven’t done that since I was a kid! LOL! All in all not a bad day. How were things by you?

My card for today is for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have a sketch as our inspiration…

JAI Sketch 191

I like trying out different color combos to mix things up, I also went with a collage style card, one of my favorites. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Pool Party with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered a piece of Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back and then adhered it to the card front covering the whole thing. I liked the way my card looked yesterday with it so I will be doing more often! The partial circle is a piece of Gumball Green that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies. The stamp is from the Notable Notions Stamp Set and is stamped in Gumball Green, I also used it for the buttons which are stamped in Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler and Pool Party and punched out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch. My doily is Bushing Bride and I used the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit to cut it out. The ornament is from the Best of Christmas Stamp Set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler. For the small ornament I used the Very Merry Tags Stamp Set and stamped it in Pool Party and punched it out with the Mosaic Punch. The final piece to the collage are the tickets which are stamped in Pool Party and Gumball Green from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set. To finish off the card I used a Mini Glue Dot to adhere a Subtles Collection Designer Button on the ribbon. I really am liking the colors and they aren’t ones that I would usually put together. Thanks for stopping by today to see my card for this week’s Just Add Ink sketch challenge, I hope that you enjoyed it and have a wonderful Sunday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Justin, love this card. The way you can put all these colors and shapes together and make it work is amazing to me.
I have a question about the doily. I own this sizzlit but haven’t used it because I heard it’s difficult to get the little pieces out. Do you use packing tape on it? I’ve read that helps but am afraid I’ll ruin the sizzlit.

  2. Justin, did u use the clay and molds for the button?

  3. Now reading here with my 3rd Nespresso I can see “clearly”, even if it is dark and gloomy outside. Love the doilies sizzlits but I too am afraid of the time it takes to use it and poke all the pieces out. How about waxed paper? I seems to remember reading something about it but of course can’t remember exactly what or how to use it to make things easier….

Busy day today prepping cards, envelopes liners, alternate sentiments for inside of cards, probably making simply more traditional-easy-to-mail cards for my event on Wednesday night so I guess it’s OK if the weather is what it is… it’s warmer anyway and that’s fine by me too! Have a great Sunday. P.S, and don’t forget we want picture(s) of uncle Justin holding his nephew!

    • LOL! It’s gloomy here today too Louise! It’s really not that bad to use the Doily. Just a little pushing out the pieces and done! I haven’t tired wax a paper, I don’t think it would help, they are stuck in the paper not the die.

It is a good day to be crafty! Yes, I’ll take the gloom as long as it comes with a little warmth. I will have some pictures as soon as I get to see him. Enjoy your crafty Sunday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Hi Justin, this is a cool card. I like the colors and especially the doily sizzlit. I too, have this and am a little afraid to use it. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I should attempt that sometime because I like the way it looks on your card. We have had rain off and on here in southern WI most of the weekend and today there is a tornado watch. It could be worse..it could be snowing!! Good day to stay inside and be creative! Enjoy your Sunday!!

  6. You do the collage look so well, really like how you put all those different elements together. Enjoy your Sunday, but I think I would prefer snow over a tornado, you must really hate snow!!

  7. Wow, this really catches ones eyes! A lot going on but it really works and looks great! Again such an array of great products. How do you do it? I’ll have to go back and count all of them. I’ve mentioned I’m traditional red and green for Christmas cards, well I’m trying to go outside the box. Will be interesting.
