Just Add Ink 194

Posted on

I did quite some running around yesterday. I had to make a few stops and head over to my parent’s house for a few minutes. Luckily enough, my friend Danielle decided to come with me to the a cappella concert yesterday! We left around 4 o’clock and got there right around 7 since we had to stop along the way for some sustenance. Yesterday was a bad food day. I had McDonald’s for lunch which I haven’t had in years and I had to slum it and have Dunkin’ Donuts because the Starbucks stores in Connecticut all closed early! Since I was already at Dunkin’, I decided to pick up a glazed donut too… oops! Like I said, bad food day. The concert, however, was excellent and the trip was well worth it. As promised, I have some pictures for you. Below you’ll find a picture of the outside of the Repertory Theater in New Britain, CT (it’s actually a converted house) and a picture of me and my friend Andrew (not a good picture of me, but a picture nonetheless).

Today’s card is for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge and they have asked us to “Just Add Santa”…

JAI Theme 194

The base of my card is a piece of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. On top of that is a piece of Always Artichoke and my background is the postcard stamp, stamped in Always Artichoke on a piece of Very Vanilla. I used the script from French Foliage for the quote writing on the left side. The Santa image is from the Best of Christmas Stamp Set and is stamped in Jet Black Staz-On and colored in with Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke and Blush Blossom Stampin’ Write Markers. I created the frame with the Squares Collection Framelits Dies and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My tag was created using the new Scallop Tag Topper Punch*, I modified it slightly by cutting 1/4″ off of each side so it would fit the greeting a little better. Speaking of the greeting, it comes from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler. Before I adhered the tag to the card, I “edged” it with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker to make it stand out a little more. And there you have my “Just Add Santa” card for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge. Thank you for visiting today! I hope the rest of your weekend is wonderful!

  1. Once in a while a bad food day won’t hurt Justin. Don’t feel guilty, even I have had to give in to the horror that is McDonald’s once in a while. Oh well. So – you went to New Britain, CT – not far from where I come from – Cheshire, CT. It’s so great that you share photos with us. Gives us something a bit extra to look forward to!

Great card! That Santa stamp is just magnificent and you really did it justice with your coloring. I love the way you were able to incorporate it into the post card stamp. This card really highlights your artistic talents. Thanks for sharing!

  4. This is just beautiful Justin! I love the feel vintage feel to this Santa and how you’ve teamed with the postcard image – great combination. Don’t feel bad about the Macca’s (Aussie way of saying McDonald’s) – we all have days like those! Although Macca’s wouldn’t be my food of choice! lol

  5. Hi Justin-Nice card! Love the vintage-y feel of it! So glad you shared the picture of Andrew!! Tell him we do want to see more of his card-making talents. 😉 I’m laughing about your fast-food day…we all have days like that! It’s a winter wonderland here today–it’s been lightly snowing since mid-morning. We are putting up the tree and listening to Christmas music! Enjoy the rest of your day and thanks for sharing another wonderful creation!

    • Hello Karen!
Thanks you! I love the vintage look without all of the distressing. I will let Andrew know, I’m sure he will be happy to hear that! I guess we all have fast food days, I just like it when they are few and far between! It’s snowing here right now, not a fan at all! I need to put up my tree too, but I have a long list of things to do before I do that! I hope you are having a wonderful day! 🙂
