Pals Paper Arts 185 & Sneak Peek

Posted on

Ahh.. you gotta love a little holiday on a Wednesday because it makes Friday come that much quicker! Work today was quiet again and I’m loving it. I had to go to the eye Dr. for my yearly exam after work and then I had some dinner and finished up some projects that needed to get done. I’ll be off to Manhattan on Sunday for a bit so I hope to get some pictures for you guys! Thank you for all of your sweet comments about yesterday’s post and little Daniel. You guys are the best!

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to thank the team over at Pals Paper Arts for choosing my card as one of the their top three picks for last week’s challenge. You can see my original post here and the winners post here. This week is the last Pals Paper Arts challenge of the year! I don’t know about you but 2013 flew by! This week the talented Nicole has given us a nice simple sketch…

PPA 185

This was one of this times where I saw the card before I sat down at the desk! The base of my card is Pool Party Card Stock. For the background I stamped a piece of Crumb Cake with the Hardwood Background Stamp* inked with Crumb Cake. A strip of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack* is backed with some Real Red and adhered to the card on the right side. I cut out a piece of Pool Party with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies and stamped the greeting in Real Red from the Express Yourself Host(ess) Stamp Set. My flower is from the Simple Stems Stamp Set* and is stamped in Real Red and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the flower and the label to the card. I love the colors in the Fresh Prints DSP, well I love the colors in all of the new DSP! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. Only a little over a week until you can order from the 2014 Occasion Catalog, get your lists ready! Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic Friday! 🙂

  1. Oh so fresh looking! Maybe that’s why the paper stack is rightly named Fresh Prints. How corny was that? LOL When I received the paper I instantly fell in love with it. While it is fresh, it takes me back to wonderful memories of my Grandmother’s house with lovely hardwood floors and her dainty wallpaper. Another winner in my book. Thank you Justin.

  5. Thanks for the family pics. What a delight your nephew must be! You and your brother look like twins! Lovely family… On to the cards — as always, it’s so much fun to tune in and see what you have for us. I can’t wait to order from the new Occasions; such pretty papers and so many of them. Love the new wood background stamp. Have a great weekend! Nancy B

  7. Oh my! Awesome card Justin! I also love this paper stack, and to be honest, it mimics some of my favorite past dsp’s. I believe this one is very close to Comfort Cafe, but it looks totally different with the pool party, real red and crumb cake. Who would think that these colors “go” together! And yes, it does remind me of my grandma’s wallpaper, on the stairway from the bedrooms upstairs to the living area down. 🙂 I’d love to see what you do with those dizzy chevron style stripes in this pack.. you know…the red and blue ones? yikes! talk about needing to go to the eye doctor! wow! Have a great day and New Year!

    • Thank you very much Bobbi! I agree with you about the Paper Stack, there is some Comfort Cafe and Sycamore Street in there. I love it when the Designer Series Paper has colors in it that you wouldn’t necessarily put together! The piece I used is definitely old wallpaper. I’ll have to see what I can come up with for the chevrons! Thanks so much for stopping by, enjoy your evening and have a wonderful New Year! 🙂

  11. Such a great card, Justin. You’ve made me a believer about this flower set (which I was not interested in at first). You’ve paired everything together wonderfully! Thanks for playing along with the PPA challenge.
