Pals Paper Arts 186 & Sneak Peek

Posted on

I woke up this morning to 6 inches or more of snow… not a good morning! It was cloudy and miserable all day yesterday. They did say that we were going to get a lot of snow and they didn’t lie. I think I’m not going to even try to go to work, my little convertible is definitely not a fan of the snow. I’m sure that most of you are having a not so nice winter either. Hopefully it will be a quick winter!

On a fun happy note today marks the first day that you can order from the 2014 Occasions Catalog! I hope that all of my sneak peeks have inspired you and that you have all of your favorites on a list! 🙂

Today I have my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge and this week we have a very elegant color combo…

PPA 186

My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Island Indigo with the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed it with some Gold Foil Sheet. My flowers are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, then cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits. The greeting is from the You’re Lovely Stamp Set** and is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits that I also used to cut out some more Gold Foil Sheet. The butterflies are cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit with yup, you guessed it, Golf Foil Sheet. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the way the flowers match the ones on the greeting and it was nice to use the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, it was feeling neglected! Thanks for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. I hope that you have a nice snow-free day! 🙂

  1. What a wonderful card. Using the gold foil sheet makes it shear elegance. Well if you can stay home for work, go for it. The morning news mentioned Long Island and the severe weather, I automatically thought of you. Yes, your little convertible won’t be happy (as well as the owner) trying to plow through the snow. A very good day to get some serious stamping done. Enjoy and stay safe and warm.

    • Thank you Lisa! My office has a delayed opening of 12:00, is there really any point to that?! It’s still really snowing, seems worse thank it was earlier. I would love to stay home and stamp the day away! We’ll see! 🙂

  2. Hi Justin! Snow day!! Remember how fun those were when you were a kid? Better to stay home and be safe. If you get some time to play, that’s even better! This is a beautiful, elegant card! I love it! And a great layout too. The gold foil deco label framelit perfectly frames that sentiment doesn’t it? Just gorgeous! We are in the deep freeze here for the next few days. They were talking about people at the Packer game this weekend and being outside for 3 hours with wind chill temps in the negative 30 to 40 degrees! No thanks! 🙂 Enjoy your day at home!

    • Hi Kare!
Yes, snow days were fun when we were kids, just playing, not so much now! I’m glad you enjoyed the card. I love the flowers heat embossed! Negative 30-40 degrees!! That’s terrible!! Best to skip that! Hopefully I will not go to work. I have to keep updating the web site and Facebook page so I am still working, does’t that count?!?! LOL! Enjoy your day! 🙂

  4. Good Morning Justin! Snow days all along the Northeast! I agree with Karen, stay home and be safe. Love how you blend older products with new releases! What an eye to combine the Secret Garden flowers with the new You’re Lovely stamp! The gold butterflies are the perfect touch.

    • Hello Beth!
Yes, definitely all along the Northeast! I did stay home most of the day. I can’t be in the house all day, I get a little nutty! Glad you like my combo! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  5. Oh Justin – that gold foil really makes this card outstanding. I just love the color combo and the little butterflies make me think spring, which at this point I really need. Right now it’s 12 below zero here and with the wind chill factored in it’s 35 below zero. The wind is whipping around and it’s still snowing. I can’t even guess at how high the drifts are except to tell you we have a large grille out in the yard and you can’t find it. LOL You were smart to not even attempt to get into the office today. Stay home, stay warm and make cards. I love this card and am going to print it out and put it in my favorites album.

    • Thank you Grace! Yes, the butterflies made me think spring, I think that’s why they made it on there! Gasp! -35, no thanks! I did make 3 cards today to post while I’m at Leadership. I’m so happy that you like the card!! 🙂

  6. Hi Justin,
This is a beautiful card! I love the Gold embossing and the use of the gold foil paper!
We are having a snow day here in Philly…It looks like we got about 8-10 inches…now it is just blowing and cold! My daughter and son in law did not attempt going out to work today so that means I get to have a snow day also! I babysit their two year old daughter.
We just moved into the Philly area on Dec. 31st. So I am in the process of trying to get my boxes unpacked…did get enough of my stamping supplies unpacked to be able to play around today!
    Stay safe and warm,
    Donna

    • Hello Donna,
Thanks! I do love the gold, so glad we have it now! Yeah, I’ve had enough of the snow. It should be reserved for ski areas only! LOL! Glad you had some time to play today, I did too! You stay safe and warm too! 🙂

  7. Hi Justin! Sorry you have so much snow! We had about 2+ inches with ice. My husband has been out salting and plowing our 900 foot (?) drive, all downhill, before, after, and during. Sunday is another bad storm. Nevertheless, I keep stoking the fire and loading more wood. I love your card. I can’t wait for SAB to see this stamp (and Punch?). All the gold that SU offers us does glitter! The good old products you used are among my favorites. Thanks for sharing! Stay home and stay safe. I hope your daughter is okay too. Nancy B
