Catherine & Cathy Create 19

Happy Saturday! Yesterday it was a battle between my dislike of snow and the fact that I got the day off because of it! Yes, I hate snow and cold and all of the other winter stuff but a three day week with a surprise Friday off, that pretty awesome! There wasn’t much else to do besides craft so that exactly what I did! I also spoke to my cousin in England for an hour, that was nice, I miss her! Oh, and I watched Oblivion with Tom Cruise, pretty good. I wanted to share this picture that was taken from my window to show you how lovely a morning it was! There are many more houses in the distance but the snow caused white-out conditions!

Enough about the weather! I’m over on the Catherine & Cathy Create blog for this month’s card challenge. All we ask is for a little doodle on your project! I wanted to keep my card simple so this is what I came up with. The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Marina Mist (very neglected color) with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for my background and then took my Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker and “doodled”! As you can see I’m not a very good doodler! The fun circles are from the Spiral Spins Stamp Set and are stamped in Calypso Coral and Marina Mist and punched out with the 1 3/8″ and 1/2″ Circle Punches. For the greeting I used the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set, stamped it in Calypso Coral and punched it out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch. All of the pieces are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I had to have the Spiral Spins Set because it reminds me of Spirograph and I thought the color combo was different! I appreciate you dropping by to see my card for the Catherine & Cathy Create cards challenge. Click on over to the blog and see what the rest of the Design Team have done and do a little doodle on a card and enter it in the gallery! Have a fun and frost free Saturday! 🙂

  1. Love those spiral spins! They can be elegant, silly, flowery, whatever. Neat, neat card Justin and yes, I bet it was nice to have a snow day to just craft and hang out. I’d like to commiserate with you about the weather but frankly, compared to us here in Maine with the snow AND the ice, your place doesn’t look so bad! LOL I absolutely LOVE winter and snow but now that I’m older I don’t travel in it. I think the warm colors for your card today should have taken the chill off somewhat eh?

    • Thanks Grace! They are very “Spirograph” like! LOL! No, you definitely have it worse up there! I am just not a fan of winter at all. Tes, the colors did help a bit. Enjoy your day! 🙂

  2. This definitely reminds me of my youth from the Spirograph style stamps and the Alphabet embossing folder! Thanks for taking me back 50 plus years!

  3. Love this card! Marina Mist is a color that reminds me of the warm beach when it’s not too hot. I still have a Spirograph set! I love the new stamps. I can’t wait to see you emboss the spirals in metallics. Stay warm and dry! Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Nancy B

    • Thanks Nancy! That’s a great way to describe Marina Mist! I wish I still had my old Spirograph, I would have used it for my doodles! Thanks for the metallics idea! Have a great evening! 🙂

  4. Just a fun fun card! Beth has the same thoughts as I do. Spirograpgh flashbacks with the stamp set. Oh, that dates my age doesn’t it. I’ll never tell. Love the Calypso Coral squiggly lines framing your card. Snowy pictures look pretty even though winter is not my favorite season. Fall get top billing for me. We are latching down the hatches for the winter storm that is to hit us starting late tonight through Sunday. Sub zero temps with wind gusts up to 40 mph and wind chill -40 and to make it even better predictions of 10-12 inches of blowing snow. Oh goody I can’t wait! LOL This is suppose to be record breaking for northwest Ohio. I feel for the people on the East coast with all their terrible weather. I never got my second pre order placed so what better time to get my wish list together and order it.

    • Thanks Lisa! Yes, definitely flashbacks! LOL! You are only as old as you feel! Yes, the snow is pretty to look at but I would be fine looking at on TV! I would say that Spring is my favorite. I feel bad, but better you than me, I’ve had enough snow! That’s a good idea, that way you can really think about what you want. I try to but I usually end up getting most of it! LOL! 🙂

  5. Ha! Spirograph memories for sure, although I didn’t see it when I saw this set in the catalog. I passed it right by…. it’s your fault…now I have to spend more money…darn it! 🙂 Love this card Justin…. I also love the Perfect Pennants…passed that one too. What’s wrong with me? Hugs! Stay WARM…. I used to live in Chicago, and they are getting snow AGAIN and frigid temps tonight. Brrrr…. so glad I live in Arizona now. It was 79 yesterday! YAY me! 🙂

    • LOL! Right Bobbi?! Ha ha! I’m happy to be the one that you blame! Thanks very much, glad you like the card! Perfect Pennants is pretty neat, all of the stamps are nice and different! It will be warmer today and rainy, but I’m good with that! Ahh… 79 degrees sounds lovely! 🙂

  6. I Love the Spirals on the Card. Oh how I wish I could come to your House and play in the Snow. It is Beauitful. I know It really causes problems. We hardly ever get in in Seattle WA.
