Geometrical Love

Happy Sunday! I hope that you are all having a good weekend! I had a very nice day in Manhattan yesterday. I took the 7:11 train in and stopped at Starbucks before I went to see my friends Jim and Diane. I always enjoy visiting them, they are such great people. I left there around 12:00 and spoke to Andrew who decided to come in and meet Kim and I for lunch. We went to our favorite diner and when we finished Andrew and I decided to wander around a bit. We went to cross 2nd Avenue and Andrew saw this sign…

JRK Zone

How neat is that, my initials! I had to take a picture, that will probably never happen again! Next up is a picture of Andrew and I that Kim took. I never remember to take any pictures of my peeps, but I did yesterday!

Andrew Justin 2nd Ave

Finally when we were headed back uptown Andrew suggested that I take a picture of the MetLife and Helmsley buildings down Park Avenue. It looked kinda neat all lit up!

Park Ave Met Life Night

So there are some little snapshots from our adventure yesterday in Manhattan! And now on to today’s post. Every once in a while I get to sit down and make a bunch of cards that have nothing to do with challenges, they’re kind of “just because” cards. Today’s card is one of those…

My card base is Smoky Slate Card Stock. I took a piece of Whisper White and stamped the triangles from the Geometrical Stamp Set in Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay and Strawberry Slush. The greeting, also from the same set, is stamped in Strawberry Slush and my Stamp-a-ma-jig helped me line all of them up. Some Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper is cut into a square, backed with some Whisper White and I used the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies to cut the heart out of the middle. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card and let the stamped images underneath peek through the heart. For a little extra pizzazz, I cut one of the arrows from the Label Card Thinlits Dies from a piece of Silver Foil Sheet and adhered that on top of the DSP with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. A relatively simple card with a modern twist. I really like the popped up DSP with the heart cut out of the middle! I hope you enjoyed my different take on a Valentine today, thank you as always for stopping by and also sharing in my adventure in Manhattan! Have a wonderful day!

  1. Great photos! Love the sign. Our road is snow covered again. Ugh! Very different card design, but I like the way the triangles peek out from under the cut outs. Have a great day. Nancy B

    • Thanks Nancy! I thought that was really neat that my initials were on there! We are to get more snow tonight. Glad you enjoyed the card and I hope that you have a great day! 🙂

  2. Enjoyed the pics of NYC! Andrew’s eye for the lights of the buildings is stunning! Interesting take on a “love” card. The bright colors and the silver arrow work wonderful. For what it’s worth, my first thought was a “love triangle”, but I’ sure I’m reading too much into it!! Happy SUNday!

  3. What a super Valentine’s card Justin. Simple yet intricate. The best word to describe this card is “unique”. I just love it and, of course, the best part is the silver arrow. What a great inspiration for a quilt pattern. Bright and beautiful.

Glad you had fun in Manhattan. When is Andrew going to make another card for us to look at? The photos are always great to see and the sign with your initials – how cool is that? By the way, did you call and let them know the W and half the O were dark? LOL

    • LOL! I know right Laurie! I didn’t know what he was talking about when he first showed me. That was definitely a once in a lifetime find! It was a wonderful day! Days like that make it all worth it! The card was just fun! It really is nice when I have time to just sit and play! I do love that DSP too! Yes, the flurries turned into three inches here so far. Ugh! 🙂

    • Hello Karen!
No worries, it took me a while to reply. LOL! Waking up late threw me off too! Andrew thought that was really neat that the sign said that, so did I! The card was just a fun experiment! I’ll let Andrew know. Enjoy your day! 🙂

VERY cool card, Justin! I *really* like your design.

You really know how to enjoy life . . . good friends, good food, taking in the sights, being creative, A Stampin’ Pretty Pal just found an Albert Einstein quote that I really like: “Creativity is intelligence having fun.” Your intelligence really loves to celebrate!

The Manhattan night lights scene is really pretty. I like the frosty tree in the median with the halo’d lights. Thanks for sharing the pix!
