Pals Paper Arts 192

Posted on

A very good Saturday to you! Work was nice and busy yesterday but I got a lot accomplished so that was good. Last night I ran some errands with Heather and then we went over to Kim and Brian’s. Brian was going out with the guys from the Fire House so we decided that last night would be a wine night! We just sat and talked and laughed. A very nice Friday night indeed. I do so love time with my friends, they make everything better! It was really foggy here yesterday, so much so that you really couldn’t see very far. I took the picture below from the entrance to work. There is a lot more down the street but you just couldn’t see. I think fog is sort of neat, it gives everything a little bit of a contained feeling if that makes any sense!

Today I have my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts and they have given us a sketch challenge…

PPA 192

When I saw the sketch I decided that I needed to use some of my favorite but very neglected supplies. The card starts off with a base of Summer Starfruit Card Stock and my background is a piece of Early Espresso that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is a piece of Soho Subway Designer Series Paper that I flagged the bottom of. The main panel is another piece of the Soho Subway DSP backed with Island Indigo. My stamped images are all from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set. The greeting is stamped in Island Indigo and backed with a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe and the squares are stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe, they are all adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A relatively simple card to put together but the embossing and DSP give it a little oomph! I think this would make a great masculine thinking of you card or even be good for a birthday! And there is my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. I hope that your weekend is off to a great start and that you enjoyed today’s card. Thanks for visiting! 🙂

Layers of happiness Justin!!! You used some of my favorite elements to complete this sketch challenge and it is awesome, especially with the Early Expresso embossed with the Alphabet Press TIEF, the Soho Subway DSP, and Hello Lovely!!!
Fog seems to “eat” snow, so let’s hope that this is a sign that Spring and warmer temps are both on their way!! Friends make everything better too!! Have a fabulous weekend!!!

    • Thank you Laurie! I love the Alphabet Press Folder and the Soho Subway is my favorite out of the Annual Catalog! Hello, Lovely was one of the sets that I got to use for my display stamper gig last year at Convention. Ha! That a great way to look at the fog! It really does seem to eat the snow! It’s actually quite nice here today. We are to have more snow next week but hopefully that will be the last of it. I would be nothing without my friends! I hope that you have a great weekend too! 🙂

  2. You make me happy….hope you’re talking about Spring. Do you have a hidden message with Winter and Spring popping out above Island Indigo. Just my odd sort of thinking. The piece of dsp behind the sentiment reminds me of an old piece of barn siding. Looks like a rustic frame. I agree, it is a very appropriate masculine card.

    • I certainly am Lisa! It’s nice here today too! That is so awesome that you noticed the Winter/Spring!! I didn’t think anyone would! We have the same odd thought process then! Yes, the Soho Subway DSP has some great paper in it! So glad that you enjoyed the card! Have a great day! 🙂

  3. Great use of the sketch, and I love all the layers. The Summer Starfruit and Crisp Cantaloupe provide great contrasting color. Thanks for joining the Pals Paper Arts.

  4. Hi there Justin! Hope your weekend is off to a great start! This is such a nice card—love the texture of it! The colors look great together and not ones that I would think to use. I agree with you, this would make a nice masculine card. Enjoy your day! 🙂

  5. Good morning, Justin! You have my favorite, Summer Starfruit on here, with the great Hello Lovely set teamed with some deep, rich espresso, all making for a striking card! Thanks for getting up so early and putting this together!! Have a fun weekend. Let’s not think about Monday. Will you send us some cool pictures if you go into the city?

    • Good morning Georgie! I too love Summer Starfruit! I will miss it in a few months when it goes Vintage! Hearing form you makes the getting up early all worth it! It really is a nice day, I should take a ride into the city. I will definitely post some pictures tomorrow if I do. I won’t think about Monday until it actually arrives! Have a great weekend! 🙂

  6. Hi Justin,
Nice card, very manly indeed! I too noticed the winter and spring popping from above. Shouldn’t it say “spring and summer, you make me happy? ” LOL. As always you do such an amazing job, thanks for sharing.
By the way, I got the results back, as it turns out I have broken the shin in two places. Very painful, must stay off it completely for the next 4 weeks.
Keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you. Have a great day! Take care 🙂 ♡ Donna

    • Hello Donna!
Wow! You guys are great! I really didn’t think anyone would notice it! Yes, it should say Spring/Summer!! Thank you for taking the time to “chat”! Ouch! That sounds very painful! I will keep you in my thoughts and hope for your speedy recovery! Thanks you of keeping me updated! Have a lovely day! 🙂

  7. The first thing I noticed was the Winter/Spring at the top! Very eye catching. The Soho Subway DSP is my favorite paper too. What great images! I want to wallpaper a wall in my stamping room with it. I like your interpretation of the sketch — great color combination. Your photo looks almost like you viewed the scene through vellum. Go snow — away! It’s a sunny day again here, and yes, our steaks, prime NY strip, thick cut, were so tender and delicious! Have a great weekend and have a piece of authentic NY pizza for me! Nancy B

    • Yeah! Thanks Nancy and good on you for noticing! There really are some great images in that DSP. LOL! That would probably look really cool but it may be a tad expensive! Yes, the fog was quite cool! Mmm, those steaks sound delicious! I think I will have some pizza for lunch tomorrow! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! 🙂
