Feathered Gold Love You

Posted on

I will give you fair warning that this post is very photo heavy! LOL! I decided that yesterday was going to be a relaxing day so I ended up not going to Manhattan. However, my friend Kim did take a walk through Central Park and was kind enough to send me some pictures! We’ll get to those in a minute. Yesterday morning I got up and did some crafty things. I had a project sitting on my desk that I wanted to finish, it’s my card for today and I LOVE it! I ran some errands with Andrew and we had some Sonic for lunch. After I came home and finished some more projects. The rest of the day was quiet except for some car trouble for Andrew which hopefully turns out to be covered by a recall. Oh, remember that wine that I told you about the other day? Well, I went back to Stew Leonard’s and I remembered to take a picture of the sign:

Layer Cake Malbec

Doesn’t that sound delicious?!?! Believe me it was! I tend to prefer a Pinot Noir but I really like this one too!

Now for some Manhattan pictures. The first one is a wide shot of the Conservatory Garden. In the warmer weather they are filled with flowers. I’ll make sure and go in the spring to show you the difference.

In the center you can see the Untermyer Fountain. Walter Schott’s Three Dancing Maidens depicts a circle of three young women whose dresses cling to their wet bodies as if they were perpetually in the fountain’s spray. Here is a close up of the fountain:

Pretty neat isn’t it? You can go HERE to read a little more about the three ladies.

Ok, now on to my card for today. I was inspired by a card that I saw on Pinterest and I needed to make a card with lots of goodies on it and this definitely has a lot of stuff! I also made an exception to a rule I try to never break; I used glitter! I’ll be cleaning that up for a while! My card base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. Across the top is a piece of paper from the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. The top right and lower left corners are rounded. The next thing I did was stamp the arrows from the Peachy Keen Stamp Set in Encore Gold Metallic Ink. I used a piece of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum for my “background” and stamped the love from the Best of Love Stamp Set in Basic Black. My arrow is one of the pieces from the Essentials Wooden Elements and the XOXO is from the Quite the Pair Stamp Set and is stamped also in Basic Black. Three stars are cut out from Gold Foil Sheet, one using an element from the Circle Card Thinlits and two with the Merry Minis Punch Pack. In the upper right is one of the mini clothespins from the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit with a piece of Gold Bakers Twine tied in a bow. In the clip are two feathers that I cut out with my e-cutter and the Feathered Woodcuts Digital Kit. I then heat embossed them with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A small piece of Basic Black that I flagged is on top. Finally I used my e-cutter to cut out the you, it’s the American Typewriter Font and is covered in Gold Stampin’ Glitter. I love this card! The colors and all of the elements work well together and are fun! I’m really having a good time with my e-cutter too. The Feathered Woodcuts is definitely my favorite MDS file so far! I really hope that you enjoyed my card for today. Special thanks to Kim for the pictures and I thank you very much for coming by to see it all and hope that you have a great Sunday everyone! 🙂

    • Woo hoo! Thanks so much Marty! We all do much more than make cards right?! I’m so happy that I get to share some of the other things I do too! The card was a lot of work but I love it! I use a Silhouette Portrait. I believe that they are on sale for $129 at amazon. I didn’t need the big and this one works great! Happy Sunday! 🙂

  7. Good morning Justin! How nice of you to share photos with us all the time. Because I hadn’t seen this statue I did click on “here” to check it out and there was a photo with the flowers in bloom as well as the history. Just amazing. Battery Park also has the most amazing statues. I love the one that sits in the water with men trying to help other men out of the water. As the tide goes out you get to see more of it. Anywhoooooooo – Gold and glitter are my favorites and you sure did make them shine in today’s card. I’m pretty much a CAS card maker but that is only because I don’t have the “eye” you have. With all that is on this card not one things takes away from the whole. Just amazing. Have a Super Sunday.

    • Hello Grace!
I love that you guys like to see what else I ‘m up to besides crafting! I always like to include the rest of the info on what I take a picture of if there is more. I always look it up myself. I will have to go and see the one in Battery Park, that sounds really cool! I loved making this card! I’m happy you enjoyed the card too! Have an amazing day! 🙂

  8. Love this card Justin! I kept scrolling up, down, up, down, down down 🙂 Trying to read the description, find the detail, then look at the list of materials to see which part you’d used. Fun fun fun. I really enjoyed the link to The Official Website of Central Park as well. I will be spending some time reading that today. Thanks for sharing! Have a great Sunday!

  10. I don’t know which took more work, the layer cake or your card. The list of ingredients for each is about the same length and they are both very yummy! Thanks for all the photos again (and thank you to Kim too). I see on my weather chart that you are 10 degrees warmer than we are here. Have a great week! Nancy B

  12. Black, white and gold with feathers?! This card will go in your Top 10 Hit Parade, Justin. Every bit as delightful as a glass of Pinot Noir (or should I say ‘a bottle’)! Ha! Thank you for the sweet fountain pictures, but don’t you have to dress up like a bear to take a walk in this weather? It snowed AGAIN here today-this just blows my mind! Happy rest of the weekend. 🙂

    • Thank you Georgie! Yes, I really do like this one! LOL! Yes! I do love some Pinot! My friend took the pictures but it was in the 50’s here yesterday and today, I had the top down in the car! It’s supposed to snow on Tuesday. Just a little reprieve. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! 🙂
