Paper Players 185

Posted on

Monday, why must you come so quickly when I was having such a nice weekend?! Yesterday was a very nice day. I crafted in the morning and then went over to Heather’s house to watch the Bethpage St. Patrick’s Day Parade (I know, I thought it was a bit early too!) and after we headed over to Headquarters for some food and fun. It was nice to see so many people that I haven’t seen in a while. I left around 5:00 to go and meet Sandy for dinner. We went to the Pastrami King in Merrick. WOW! It was absolutely delicious! We talked and caught up, I don’t get to see Sandy as much as I would like to but we are going to work on changing that! I came home and spent the rest of the evening getting caught up. How was your weekend?

Monday, you know what that means?! It’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. For this week Ann has give us a “Thankful for Spring” challenge…

Paper Players #185

I tried something different on my card today but we’ll get to that in a minute. For my base I used a piece of Real Red Card Stock. The background on the right is a piece of the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper and the left is a piece of Soft Sky. Here is my something different, I took a piece of the Naturals 7/8″ Ribbon and used a Stampin’ Spritzer and some Coastal Cabana ink mixed with alcohol to dye the ribbon. On top of that is another piece of the Fresh Prints DSP and a combination of Mini Glue Dots and Sticky Strip hold it all in place. I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and the 3/16″ Corner Rounder to make my tag. The leaves are from the Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set and are stamped in Crumb Cake. The flowers; stamped in Soft Sky, Coastal Cabana and Real Red; are from the Petite Petals Stamp Set and are punched out with the Petite Petals Punch. My greeting is from the Another Thank You Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Coastal Cabana. A piece of Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon tied with some Crumb Cake Bakers Twine finishes off the tag. I love the way the Natural 7/8″ Ribbon looks dyed and I really love the way the tag came out! And there you have my card for this week’s Paper Players Theme challenge from Ann. I really hope that you enjoyed the card and I tank you for visiting with me! Have a great Monday! 🙂

  1. Hi Justin and Happy Monday! They do come around fast, don’t they? 😉 Had a nice weekend (they’re all good, aren’t they???) and sounds like you had a nice one as well, catching up with friends and eating some good food! The place you went to yesterday is making me hungry for a good pastrami sandwich!! We did go out to eat a few times and I had an awesome cheeseburger! I did a lot of prepping for an upcoming workshop. I just love being in my stamp room, it makes me happy! LOVE your card! Gosh…so pretty. That is a cool technique of dying the ribbon…I need to try that! Anything with a tag I love. I’ll never tire of using those. I may have to CASE this card for a future workshop, I think the ladies will love it. I try to do cards that aren’t too putsy so things keep moving as I have a pretty large group that stamps each month, around 28 or 30 gals. This would be a perfect card! Thanks for sharing! Have a great day!

    • Hello Karen and happy Monday to you too! Indeed they do, unfortunately! I’m happy to hear that you had a nice weekend and yes, mine was busy but great! I do love a good cheeseburger! I am so impressed that you have so many people come to your workshop!! I’m jealous! Good for you! Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful day! 🙂

  2. OOOH! What a pretty card! I love the layered ribbons and how you dyed the natural one. I still love your descriptions and the way you post the photos of the elements that you use. I hope you have as good a week as you had this weekend. (Yes, we had lots more snow overnight. I remember snow in NJ in April, just in time for Easter Sunday — way before you were born. Enough snow already!) Take care! Nancy B

    • Thank you Nancy! I do love layers and a tag! Love the tags! Wouldn’t that be great if my week was as awesome as my weekend?! I’m completely over the snow! I don’t want any more ever again!!Have a lovely day! 🙂

  3. Hi Justin – sorry your weekend went so quickly but glad to hear it was busy with friends. That always makes for a wonderful time.

I love the way you stacked the punched flowers. I don’t know why I never do that. Usually I will use dimensionals to have them “pop” but dang, they really look great layered on a flat layer of flowers first. Also, don’t you just love the photopolymer stamps? I hope SU begins offering more and more of them with the new catalog. They give the most crisp image and are the easiest to clean of any stamps I’ve tried. Have a great Monday.

    • Hello Grace!
I think the reason it went so quickly was because I was so busy. But it was a good busy!
Thank you! I do enjoy layering stuff! The Photopolymer stamps are great, love the transparency! They said at Leadership that they would have more! I hope that your Monday is great too! 🙂

  4. Cool technique with the ribbon one way to increase the inventory of colors without actually increasing your inventory and taking up more space. Great card.

  7. Great card Justin! It gives all you “northerners” a reminder that spring is truly on it’s way! After 55 years in Michigan, I do know what winter’s all about up there. The pictures on the news make me shiver…brrrrrr!

I am jazzed by this card Justin!! 🙂 It is so balanced with colors, textures, and techniques!! And what a great tip to corner-round the tag, I am totally going to try that!!! My Monday flew by and I hope the rest if the week does too!! At least until Friday comes, LOL!! My weekends always feel super short!!!

    • Thank you Laurie!! I think rounding the corners makes the tag look a little more uniform. My Monday was ok, I’m glad that yours went quick! We need to find a way to make the weekend last longer, I agree! Let switch the week with the weekend!! 🙂
