Pals Paper Arts 194

Posted on

What day is today?! That’s right, kids, it’s FRIDAY!!!! 🙂 Let’s see, I taught myself some new things on the computer at work yesterday which is always a good way to add things to your resume. LOL! Last night, I installed Andrew’s brand new car stereo for him. This will insure that he can text using Siri via Bluetooth instead of his hands while he’s driving. Safety first! Tonight is the Satellite Lane concert at the Long Island Children’s Museum! Andrew has assured me that he will remind me to take pictures to show you! A very good way to start the weekend :-).

Before I get to today’s post for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge, I want to thank them for choosing my card from last week’s challenge as one of their picks. You can see my original post HERE and the winner’s post HERE

PPA 194

My card starts off with a base of Wisteria Wonder Card Stock and I covered the entire front with a piece of paper from the Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper Pack. Next, I stamped a piece of Smoky Slate with the Dictionary Background Stamp in Smoky Slate and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. Before adhering it to the card, I pierced a circle around it using the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack. A piece of paper from the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper Pack goes down the left side of the card. Before adhering it to the card, I wrapped some “Vintage” Wisteria Wonder Baker’s Twine around it and attached a Subtles Collection Designer Button to it. Three feathers from the Fine Feathers Stamp Set, two stamped in Wisteria Wonder and one stamped in Night of Navy, are cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered underneath the button. My greeting is from the Simply Celebrate Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of flagged Night of Navy. I like the contrasting look of the two DSP’s, the background being very graphic and precise while the panel is soft and random. Sometimes things that are complete opposites end up working really well together! I appreciate you stopping by today to see my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. I hope you have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful start to your weekend!

  3. Oh my, so soft and delicate yet bold also. Like how the feathers mimic the lightness of the Wisteria Wonder, Smoky Gray with the pop of Night of Navy. Combo of DSP and Dictionary background work well too. Love the boldness of the white embossed thank you. It balances everything out and ties it all together. Sounds like another busy and fun filled weekend for you. Have fun. Oh and no more texting while driving Andrew.

Great Card! Love everything about it. I have not seen two of those stamp sets, Feathers and Dictionary Background. Also the Afternoon Picnic DSP is new too. You really used these colors very nicely. 🙂

  8. I love the soft feel you created with the design team’s colors. Everything about this card has favorites of mine. I like how you did not let the Night of Navy control the other colors; yet it is the focal point and all the colors blend well. Looking forward to more photos. Tell Andrew you may have saved his life, and there really is nothing so important that it can’t wait until he gets there. Have a most glorious weekend! Grilling steaks again tonight — it’s Friday! Stay safe, my friends. Nancy B

    • Thank you Nancy! When there is a strong color like Night of Navy paired with two soft one I think it’s best to keep it to a minimum. Andrew knows, but it’s definitely safer and he won’t be tempted anymore. Mmm, I want some of your steaks, they sound so good! Enjoy!! See you tomorrow! 🙂

  11. Justin,
Another fabulous card! I love how you used the circle framelit to cut out the dictionary background stamp (a favorite of mine!). I really like the addition of the feathers, I do not have that set, I need to add it to my next order! I like that you used products that are in the main catalog, I feel sometimes that when the new mini catalogs come out, we tend to only see those products being used. So thank you for bringing out the ones in the main catalog!
I wasn’t too sure about this color combo, but you did a great job balancing everything.
    Enjoy your concert tonight!
Thank you for sharing your talent with us!

    • Hey Donna!
Thank you so much! I too love the Dictionary Stamp! I love the feathers too! They are fun with the E-Cutter as well. I sometimes forget that there is a main catalog, I get wrapped in the new stuff. Eventually I remember! I was a little hesitant about the colors, but turns they were pretty fun to work with. I am looking very forward to the concert! I hope that you have a lovely evening too! 🙂

Wonderful card! Love how the long feathers fall perpendicular to the banner. The variety of circles are what really caught my eye! From the Smoky Slate stamped and pierced circle to the watercolor drops on the DSP to the button anchoring the feathers!! Have an enjoyable evening and I look forward to pictures tomorrow. (As a former wildlife biologist I have a liking for feathers too!!)
