Paper Players 188

Posted on

There is another weekend under our belt. They do go too fast, even with Friday off, but I had a nice one none the less. Yesterday I worked on some projects and organized the craft area which seems to be an ongoing loosing battle! LOL! I just need to take an entire day and go through everything (I may need more than one day!) and put it away. Do you have the same problem, just when you find a place for everything you get some more?! Sigh, there are worse problems right?!?! 🙂

Monday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my clever friend Sandy has a cool sketch for us…

Paper Players #188

Love the layout and I liked the circles too so I stuck with them! I needed a fun bright card and I think I was successful! The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock, you can just see a little bit peeking out the right side. Down the left is a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper for a little sparkle. The background is a piece of Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper that I backed with a piece of Whisper White to make it a little more stable. My greeting is from the Geometrical Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black, I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the panel to the card. The Strawberry Slush and Basic Black circle outlines are cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. My black circle has a piece of vellum behind it and in the middle is an ampersand cut out from some Bermuda Bay using the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies. The Smoky Slate circle is punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch and has some embossing paste that I tinted with some Bermuda Bay Re-Inker. Last up is one of the triangles from the Geometrical Stamp Set stamped in Crushed Curry and punched out with the Triangle Punch. So what do you think? Is the card fun and bright?! You’ll have to let me know! I do hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from Sandy. Thanks for stopping by and have a great Monday! 🙂

  1. Love this, Justin! I knew you would doing something fabulous with this layout! I like your use of vellum and the repeating dot element. {hugs}

  2. You’re right Justin – this is a really fun card! I love the fact that there is bling (the glimmer paper), softness (the vellum) dimension (the ampersand on dimensionals) and tons and tons of smiling personality! I can easily understand why your crafting area always needs a bit of straightening up as you use so many different elements in your creations. I know I make a huge mess when I’m stamping but hey, I’m one of the lucky few with a room dedicated to my crafts so when I’m in the middle of something I can just close the door and walk away. I too am subject to having everything in place and organized only to have more arrive and having to start again. LOL I like to tell everyone that I am “overly blessed”. Have yourself a marvelous Monday!

    • Thank you Grace! Every card needs a little bling and I am obsessed with Vellum lately! I am actually pretty good about putting things away after I use them, it’s the new stuff that I don’t put away! I wish I had a whole room, I have a little corner of my bedroom and I spend more time there than in bed! LOL! Yes, we are overly blessed aren’t we! I hope you are having a lovely Monday! 🙂

  3. Hello Justin and Happy Monday! They do come around fast, don’t they?? Great card…it makes me smile. The bright colors are so happy! I’m like Grace, even with a room dedicated to stamping, I could always use more space. LOL! Actually, I think I work better with the messiness around me. Thank goodness there’s a door on the room! Hope your day is off to a great start! Thanks for sharing this happy card!

    • Hello Karen, happy Monday! They come around way too fast! I love it when I make you smile!! They do say that a mess makes a person more creative! I will have to get a curtain! LOL! Enjoy the rest of your day! 🙂

  4. Yes…totally fun and bright! Love the graphic design; lots of well-thought out details, making it clean and interesting. Great card!

  5. That looks like a fun to make card! Makes me happy to see it. Downton Abbey isn’t on the telly on Sunday nights now, so it makes Sunday tedious. I have been working on my stamping room for two years now; it’s half the size of my basement room, which my son and husband confiscated from me! New stuff just keeps pouring in, but I think I have a handle on organizing in a better way now. However, I am far from finished! I’ve just taken over two more rooms upstairs so I have no guest room at this time. I have cut, stamped, layered, glued, etc. on my lap, my keyboard, the bathroom counter, and even a corner of my bed. Wish I were Mary Fish at a time like this, but I will make do with what I have. Don’t despair! Tomorrow is another cleaning out day and at least two of the rooms have doors. I am one who can’t stand the mess so this affects me greatly! Thank you for the wonderful reply yesterday! Still organizing…Nancy B

    • It was fun Nancy! But I always have fun making my cards! You will have to find something else to watch, I have been watching more movies. I am in a constant state of organizing, I doubt I will ever finish. I LOVE Mary’s stamp room, I would like to live in there, there is even a murphy bed so I could! LOL! Wouldn’t she be surprised when she saw me in there! LOL! Thank you for taking the time to chat with me, it always makes my day better! 🙂

  6. Such a fun and polka dotty card. Kinda sounds silly doesn’t it. Oh well, but it is.

  7. Your card was such an inspiration today that I just ordered the Geometrical bundle and the Kaleidoscope DSP!! I love the softness of the vellum and bright dots!! I used to think organization was one of my strengths, but I do keep ordering more “supplies” and starting new projects! I too have to step back every few weeks and rearrange my little craft space under the stairs. Hope you a storm free Tuesday!!

    • Thank you Beth! I really like the Geometrical Set and Kaleidoscope DSP! I too suffer from the same as you! I hope we don’t get the snow at all! I thought we were finished! 🙂

  8. What a bright and cheery card! Inspiration to use that set that has been sitting in a corner, somewhere, waiting to be put together and used. I have an ‘inventory’ and try to add items as they come into my room but sometimes I forget…. but right now my system is not perfected to the point where I would be able to know exactly where to find a particular stamp (and some people do…. I know one! my SIL…). I too am pretty good at putting things away once I am done with a project, it’s the “bigger” picture right now that I am struggling with. Yep, I think we all have to make a trip and take lessons and suggestions from Mary Fish. Her room is to die for! So to craft or to organize…. hum! Hopefully not storm for tomorrow but it is so so cold still. Oh and I really love how you are using (obsessed) vellum lately. Great inspiration.

    • Thank you Louise! I too am struggling with the bigger picture! I am really good at cleaning up after I finish a project but it’s the putting the new goodies away! Yes, Mary’s Stamp room is definitely to die for! I prefer to craft, I won’t lie! It’s really cold here too! The vellum obsession will continue don’t worry! LOL! 🙂

  9. Justin, this is fabulous. Really love your use of vellum and admire the way you’ve combined all these bright colors into one FUN card. This paper intimidates me but you’ve made it shine! So glad you joined us at The Paper Players!!
