Catherine & Cathy Create Monthly Challenge 28

Posted on

Ok, so yesterday morning around 6:30 it started snowing, and I mean blizzard! We got three inches in about 3 hours! No, it was not in the forecast… I know what you are thinking, the weatherman wrong?! No, that can’t be! LOL! After the snow ended the sun came out and it went up to 56 degrees. Are you as confused as I am?! Someone is!! Other than that it was a Monday, work, not my favorite. I did come home and manage to make my Mojo card in 20 minutes! That never happens but I do love when it does! You will have to wait until Thursday to see it though! How was your Monday? 🙂

Before we got to today’s post here are the weekly deals from Stampin’ Up!

Today I’m over on the Catherine & Cathy Create Blog for this month’s challenge. We have a lovely inspiration picture for you too…

Fresh Beginings Color 4-01-2014

There are some lovely colors in there aren’t there? I started off with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock, a color that I haven’t used in quite a while. Next up is a panel of Whisper White that I adhered to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I cut out some Garden Green with the Little Leaves Sizzlit and adhered them to the panel with 2-Way Glue. The large flowers are from the Flower Shop Stamp Set and are stamped in Strawberry Slush and punched out with the Pansy Punch. The smaller flowers are from the Petite Petals Stamp Set and are stamped in Daffodil Delight and punched out with the Petite Petals Punch. Some Mini Glue Dots adhere all of the flowers to the panel. My tag is a piece of Vellum Card Stock and I punched the top with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch. The greeting is from the Hip Notes Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A piece of twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack is tied in a bow at the top and the tag is adhered with a few more Mini Glue Dots. I love the way that you can see the flowers behind the tag but the greeting is still nice and bold. Now that you have seen my card head on over to the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has come up with and enter your card in the gallery for a chance to win this month’s prize! I hope you enjoyed my take on the inspiration photo and I thank you for coming by to see me today! Have a great Tuesday! 🙂

Yes, this is a great card. I love these flowers and punch sets. The colors are very nice and the velum tag looks great! 🙂

  2. Such a happy, happy card! I’ve been using the Flower Shop and Petite Petals set quite a bit lately. Can’t seem to get enough of them. Plus they have their coordinating punches. I must try embossing on vellum. Seems like everyone is using this technique lately.

    • Thanks Lisa! I do love a stamp and a punch! Embossing on Vellum is not as bad as most people think. If you heat it for too long it will curl jet like paper! Hope you will give it a try! Have a wonderful day! 🙂

  3. Very pretty! I like all the white space.

  4. Hi Justin! Such a pretty card! Love the vellum! I do love the coordinating stamps and punches…it makes things so much easier! I thought you were playing an April Fools joke on us with the mention of snow at first. Hopefully it’s all gone. I almost hate to tell you this but we had a beautiful day yesterday. The temps changed overnight and we are back to the 30’s. Enjoy your day!

    • Hello Karen!
Thank you! Yes, the vellum adds a little something extra! I think I prefer a stamp/punch to a stamp/framelits combo. I wish it was an April fools joke, but no three inches of snow in three hours! It’s all gone though. I’m happy that you had a beautiful day yesterday, it’s pretty nice here today! Have a great day! 🙂

  5. Great card Justin – I must say that putting the panel off to the side instead of centering it was the perfect touch for this one. Almost anytime there is a punch to match a stamp set I’m a happy camper. The cutting machines are fine but the punches just seem so much easier and faster to me. Your flowers look fab and the little piece of twine was the perfect way to get that little extra “wow” into the card. Nice job. Wishing you a Terrific Tuesday!

    • Thank you Grace! Sometimes a little off is good, like me LOL! I completely agree with you on the punch front, they are definitely quicker! I like that the twine doesn’t match anything but coordinates instead. I hope your Tuesday is terrific too! 🙂

  6. Love the card, CAS, my favourite style. I ordered the petite petals bundle last order but the punch is backordered, bummer!! but when it comes I will definitely case your card, too pretty not to but I will give proper credit to you. hoping spring blows your way soon, our snow is melting slowly.

    • Thank you Lynne! I too am becoming more a CAS fan. Another backordered item! We’ll, I guess that’s good, it means they are selling well! I appreciate the CASE and the credit! It’s pretty nice here today! Enjoy the rest of your day! 🙂

  7. Wow I really like your vellum tag with the greeting. Beautiful card
