It was another very nice day here again yesterday. The temperature got up into the low 60’s and the sun was out all day. After that Winter I’m really appreciating the nice weather! Work was busy but I did get to take a field trip to one of my favorite places, the Apple Store. I had to pick up an iMac for the COO. After work I went to my parents for dinner and my brother, his wife and little Daniel were there. He really is just the cutest, happiest little guy. He has a great smile and laughs all the time. Taylor was there too and she got a tattoo for her birthday of Zero from the Nightmare Before Christmas, her favorite movie. After, I came home and crafted for a bit and attempted to get my stuff together for my taxes, it just dawned on me that I only have 5 days left! LOL!

My post for today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch from Julee Tilman…

I decided that I wanted to make a card that only used Photopolymer Stamps. The new ones in the last two Paper Pumpkin kits are Photopolymer so I included them too! I also wanted to use some different colors. My card starts off with a base of Daffodil Delight Card Stock and the background is a piece of Chocolate Chip. My tilted panel is Very Vanilla and the chevron stamp is from last month’s Paper Pumpkin kit. I stamped it in Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango on opposite sides of the top and bottom. A piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is adhered around the back and then I adhered the panel to the card base with SNAIL. The three circles are from the February Paper Pumpkin kit and are also stamped in Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango. I cut the large circle out with the Circles Collection Framelits, I originally used the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch but there was a white border around the circle that just didn’t fit with the look of the card. The other two circles are punched out with the 1 3/8″ and 1″ Circle Punches. The greeting is from the Show and Tell 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip on a piece of Daffodil Delight which I flagged the right side of before adhering it and the circles to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A Brights Collection Designer Button adhered to the ribbon with a Mini Glue Dot finishes off the card. I really like the retro feel of the card which I attribute to the colors. Often times I take color inspiration from a DSP, but I was proud of myself for coming up with a funky color combination! I hope you are inspired to try some different color combinations yourself and that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I appreciate your visit and hope that you have an amazing day!

  1. This puts a big smile on my face! Such a happy card. I have yet to purchase a Paper Pumpkin Kit. Should of purchased last months. That chevron stamp is to die for. Chocolate Chip is my favorite brown and love how you paired it up with the colors. Thanks for starting my day off on the good note. Have a great day in your fish tank. LOL

    • I love to hear that I have put a smile on your face Lisa! Thank you! I always liked the Paper Pumpkin Kits, but these last two have been fantastic! I don’t use Chocolate Chip enough and it really is a nice brown. I hope the rest of your day is great! I’m thinking that some Nemo clings for my windows might be in my future! LOL! 🙂

  2. Justin,
I love the color combo you chose! It does have a funky retro feel to it. I also like the graphic feel to the card. Great choices!
We too are experiencing spring weather here in Philly. My sister and nephew are in visiting from Cleveland so today we are going into the city to show them around Philly.
Hope you have a great day today!

    • Donna,
Thank you very much! I needed a fun bright funky card and I thought this one fit the bill, glad you enjoyed it!
Yes, the weather is so nice! Have a fun day on your tour of Philly! 🙂

  3. Good Morning, My favorite thing about this card is the colors! I don’t think I have ever seen anyone use the Chocolate Brown. I love the all the stamps from Paper Pumpkin. I like how you put them together. My next order HAS to include Very Vanilla too. 🙂

    • Good morning Nancy!
Thank you! I was sitting there and I was thinking lets do something a little different! I thought of the colors that I use the least and went from there. Yes, the Paper Pumpkin stamps are fun! I like Very Vanilla, it’s nice to have a neutral that isn’t beaming white! I hope you enjoy your day! 🙂

  4. I love the color combining you did on this card. Your project caused me to be hap, hap, happy. That’s a good start for the day. 🙂

  5. Hi there Justin! Gosh I love this card! The color combo is fantastic! I had to take a look at the stamp set you used for the sentiment because it didn’t look familiar to me. I may have to put that one on my list also! (Which seems to be growing larger by the day, btw!) I have to laugh at your fishbowl comments…you definitely need to get the Nemo window clings and maybe some bubbles to go around those! Enjoy your day!

    • Hello Karen!
Thank you so much Karen! I needed to try something a little different. I do love those Paper Pumpkin stamps! The kits keep getting better! And yes, I really do feel like I work in a fish tank! I am seriously considering the Nemo clings, I don’t know how funny they will find it! LOL! I hope you are enjoying your day! 🙂

  6. Justin,
You have an amazing talent to make the unexpected work beautifully. I love this colors together and it would never have occurred to me to include them on the same project. I would love to hear more about your creative process. I would need to do a LOT of playing around to accomplish something even close to this.

    • Dana,
Thank you very much! Sometimes I just sit there at the craft desk and look at the stuff I have and something will come to me. Other times I am inspired by something I see in a magazine or while I’m out. I’m a very visual person and that helps a lot! Thanks so much for visiting and enjoy your evening! 🙂

  7. I love your card and those bright bold colors!! I’m with you, glad the sun is out and the weather has gotten warmer. I am so amazed at how much you get done. Your posts always put a smile on my face. How do you find the time to blog, work and craft? I have a blog and really should post several times a week, but am lucky if I get to it once every couple of months. And I only work part time and craft as well. You are just so energetic. Could you bottle some of that energy up and ship it to me. Thanks a bunch.

    • Thank you Sandy! I’m really happy that Winter has finally decided to go away! I’m busy, but I like it that way! I’m so happy to hear that you enjoy the posts! Your comments put a smile on my face. I manage to fit most of in all of the time, it isn’t easy but I love what I do so that makes it easier! LOL! I would love to be able to bottle some and send you some, or keep it in reserve for when I am low! LOL! Have a great day! 🙂
