Pals Paper Arts 200

Posted on

I know I say it every week, but boy am I happy that it’s Friday! There are rumors that we may get out of work early today. Let’s hope that holds true! It was cold and windy here again yesterday, I’d like to know where spring has gone. Tonight I’m supposed to go out to dinner with Anthony and Bill, we’ll probably do Friday’s because I have about 386 points on my Stripes card, which I think equates to all of us eating for free. LOL! I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s snippet of Satellite Lane. As soon as they get the edited video back from the videographer, I will post the link to that. What kind of plans do you all have to get your weekend started? Today’s post is a special one. It is the 200th Pals Paper Arts challenge! Woo-hoo! This week, the Pals have given us a sketch with a twist…

I got my April Paper Pumpkin Kit in the mail yesterday which I’m sure you have all seen since Stampin’ Up! posted the early video of it. That’s what I used for my greeting on today’s card. The base of the card is Real Red Card Stock and my two panels are both pieces of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack and both of them are backed with Whisper White. The top panel is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the bottom panel is adhered with SNAIL. Like I said, my greeting comes from this month’s Paper Pumpkin and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I cut it out with the Circles Collection Framelits and that too is adhered to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It needed a little something more, so I used the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and some Whisper White to punch out some flowers and gave them a little extra pop by sticking a rhinestone in the center of each one. I used the Stampin’ Pierce Mat and the Paper-Piercing Tool to shape the flowers and give them a nice three-dimensional look. As you can see, I’ve accepted both the sketch and the monochromatic challenge, which by the way, was the twist! I’ve been on a bit of a heat embossing kick lately, I’m just really liking the way it looks. The Photopolymer Stamps make a nice, crisp image, too. I hope you enjoyed my card for this week’s special 200th Pals Paper Arts challenge. Your visit, as always, is much appreciated! I hope your weekend gets off to a fantastic start to your weekend! 🙂

  2. Well, what Mother wouldn’t love this bright cheery card! Looks like you snipped the petals on the Itty Bitty flowers. Love it! So much dimension. That Fresh Prints paper stack is wonderful. All the prints in it are great. Really liking the sentiment, nice and bold. I’m the same way with doing a technique I haven’t done in a while. I do it until I tire of it and put it away for another time. I don’t do a lot of embossing, but I do like the look it gives a card. Happy Easter Justin.

    • Yeah! Thank you Lisa! I just pushed the Itty Bitty punched pieces into the Stampin’ Pierce Mat with the dull end of the Paper-Piercing Tool, I love the way it pops them up! The sentiment is great! I really do love the stamps that you get with the Paper Pumpkin kits! Embossing is definitely on my list of faves for now. I left the Heat Tool on the desk and look what happens! LOL! Happy Easter to you too! 🙂

  3. Wonderful layout and layers. Love the monochromatic look since it challenges you to focus on textures. And you pulled it off beautifully between the DSP, the embossing and the little curled flowers!! Hopefully my Paper Pumpkin will come today!
Enjoyed your pics on NY and the needle and button statue. Would definitely buy an album from Satellite Lane! Love listening to Andrew and the group. Have a relaxing Easter weekend!

  4. Hi Justin and happy Friday to you! Love your card! I’m so glad you used that new stamp from the Paper Pumpkin…I haven’t received mine yet and in the video it was kind of hard to see it. This is such a pretty card! I love the red and white together. And this would be a great way to use up some DSP for a workshop. You sound like me with your Stripes points….mine are up there as well. Seems like we go there often and then tire of it and don’t go for months. Have a good time tonight!
