SplitCoast Creative Crew

So after all of that rain that we had yesterday, and I think they said that we got around 6 inches, the sun came out around noon and it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon! We got up to 68 degrees, made the rain yesterday sort of worth it. It was so nice to go outside and feel the warm sun and not have to wear a jacket! And today is Friday! What could be better than that! I don’t have anything specific planned for the weekend with the exception of some projects to make. It should be a great weekend too because I get my Catalog pre-order today, yes I overnighted it! The addiction continues! LOL!

My post for today is a big one. I have been asked to join the SplitCoast Creative Crew again! I had so much fun making the projects when I was on last year I was happy to join the talented group of 24 people this time around! I have four projects for you today, three cards and a mini album. Lets get to them!

My first card is for the DSP/Color Focus: Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Gumball Green, Smoky Slate. We are asked to use a technique of our choosing that imitates our watercolor wonder designer papers. I love the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper so here is my take. The base of the card is Island Indigo Card Stock. I used a piece of Gumball Green and Daffodil Delight to create the mat for my piece of Watercolor Card Stock. Using the Flower Shop Stamp Set I inked the stamp in Island Indigo, Gumball Green and Daffodil Delight. I spritzed them each time with water from my Stampin’ Spritzer and stamped each one three times to create the background. I stamped them again in the same colors on some Whisper White and punched them out with the Pansy Punch. My leaves are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are stamped in Basic Gray and cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits. The leaves are adhered to the background with Multi-Purpose Glue and the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Quite the Pair Stamp Set and is stamped in Smoky Slate and cut out with my Paper Snips. I really do love the effect that spritzing water on the stamp gives the image and the colors are nice and bright!

My next card is for the Catalog Focus: scoring tools. We are asked to use all or one of these scoring tools-Simply Scored Tool, Simply Scored Borders Plate and/or Simply Scored Diagonal Plate to add interest to a gatefold card. My card base is Daffodil Delight Card Stock cut so it’s a gatefold card. The two Whisper White panels on the front are created using the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate. It gives it a lattice like look. The flowers and butterfly are from the Polka-Dot Pieces Stamp Set and are stamped in Melon Mambo, Island Indigo and Night of Navy. I used the 1 3/4″ and 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punches and the Elegant Butterfly Punch to punch them out. I created a belly band from a piece of Pear Pizzaz and adhered all of my stamped images to it with SNAIL and Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the A Round Array Stamp Set and is stamped in Night of Navy and punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. I love the lattice look behind the flowers and the colors are inspired by the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper. A fun simple card, don’t you think?!

My third card is for the Holiday Focus: National Photograph Month. We are asked to create a card that looks like a photograph by putting a border around our image and making the image glossy. You may use On Film Framelits or make your own, you may use Window Sheets for glossiness or Crystal Effects. My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Soft Suede that I stamped in Soft Suede with the Hardwood Background Stamp. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and is heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The stamped images are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set, the flowers are stamped in Elegant Eggplant and the leaves in Garden Green. I masked them off to give it a more realistic look. A piece of Whisper White is cut out with the On Film Framelits. I adhered it and a piece of Window Sheet to the Soft Sky stamped piece and the to the card. Very clever the way the Window Sheet does really make it look like a glossy photo, I’ll definitely do that again!

The final project is for the Scrapbook and More Focus: Mini Books. I used the new Project Life by Stampin’ Up! Cards, Stamps and Framelits to create my mini book. The cover and back are Bermuda Bay and Pear Pizzaz that I cut out with the Project Life Cars & Labels Framelits Dies. On the cover I cut the speech bubble out with the Word Bubbles Framelits and stamped the stars from the Project Life Point & Click Photopolymer Stamp Set in Basic Black. The NYC is from the Sans & Stripes Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also stamped in Basic Black. All of the pages in the middle are the cards from the Everyday Adventure Project Life Cards Collection and I rounded the corners using the Project Life Corner Rounder. I used the Washi tape from the Everyday Adventure Project Life Accessory Pack to “hold” the photos in place and some Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon to hold the cards together. I love the way you can see the photo on the first page through the Word Bubble! A fun simple mini book using the new Project Life by Stampin’ Up! line. Pretty neat huh?!

Oh, I LOVED everyone of these projects. Beautiful cards and a perfect selfies album! You are very funny over–nighting your first order. Can’t wait to see what comes of that. Looking forward to it. Have a great weekend, should be sunny. 🙂

    • Yeah! Thank you Nancy! The selfies album is my fave! So quick and easy! I honestly don’t remember selection overnight but I’m kind of glad that I did! LOL! Now I can play this weekend! I hope you have a sunny fun weekend too! 🙂

  2. WOW! All of your projects are over the moon and back. I can’t begin to say which one I like best because they are all great. The mini album is especially cute. Sure do wish we would get some of your rain in Texas because we are in drought conditions here. Really enjoy your posts and photos. Have a great Friday!

    • Thank you so much Brenda! The mini album is my fave! I will see if I can send some of the rain that we had to you. It’s lovely and sunny here today! Top down weather! I’m so happy that you enjoy my blog, I enjoy your visits! Enjoy the rest of your Friday! 🙂

  3. Hey there Justin! Best day of the week! You have over-done it with your awesome-ness today–love all your projects! 🙂 The mini-album is great and would make a nice little gift for anyone! The use of the window sheet on your card is so clever…gonna have try that one. The gate fold card is so pretty, it really looks like a trellis. Your interpretation of the watercolor dsp card is beautiful as well! Hope you have a fabulous day today!

    • Hello Karen!
Definitely the best day of the week! Thanks so much! I had fun making them and figured I’d save the post for a Friday! I will make more of the mini albums, it was easy and fun! I will also use the Window Sheet technique again, such a cool effect. I hope that you are having a great Friday, mine has been really good! 🙂

  4. Fun post today, Justin! Lots of goodies to share. Congrats on joining the SplitCoast Creative Crew again – I can’t wait to see what you come up with! And I can’t believe you overnighted your new catalog order, though secretly I’m almost jealous that I didn’t think of doing that with mine!! I know you’ll have a blast this weekend!

    • Thanks Crystal! I had such fun the last time I was on with them, I was quite happy to come back! I swear I don’t remember overnighting the order! I am glad that I did, it came today at 1:00! I can’t wait to play! Enjoy your weekend! 🙂

Holy Hannah! You are really going to town now. These cards/project are incredible. I especially love the New York effects of the mini album cover — it looks so New York. The Eggplant and Green are great together and your folds and punches/dies are works of art. I can’t wait to see all your new stuff and challenge crew things you got yourself into. Have the best time playing with all your new “toys” this weekend! Nancy B

    • LOL! Thank you Nancy! I said that I had a lot of projects to do last weekend! The mini album is my favorite too! The Project Life stuff is really fun! I have gotten myself into too much I think, we’ll see what happens! I will have fun and hopefully have some stuff for you to see tomorrow! 🙂

  6. Oh my goodness Justin!
These are all so good! I really like the technique with the window sheet…I will be trying that out! That is if I ever get to my desk again! UGH! With all of the construction going on, my place looks like a disaster area!
Hopefully by time I get my products, lucky you!, they will be done and I can get my space back!
The weather yesterday was just beautiful! It got up to 79 here! Today is a little cooler but still beautiful!
I am going to the Phillies game tonight, my first! Can’t wait, I am still a loyal Cleveland fan but when in Rome…
Hope your weekend is good and have fun with all of your goodies! Can’t wait to see what you create!

    • Hello Donna!
Woo hoo! So happy you enjoyed the post today! I don’t know what I would do if I could’t get to my craft supplies! I wish you a speedy end to your construction! Yes, it was beautiful here yesterday and today too! The top was down in the car today! Have fun at the game! I do enjoy a baseball game at the stadium. My favorite was the Red Sox vs. the Mets at Fenway Park, a great ball field! I will be crafting the weekend away for sure! Hopefully I will have some goodies tomorrow! Have a great time tonight! 🙂

  7. What’s there to say but…..WOWZER’S JUSTIN! They all are simply beautiful. Your mini book, well it’s over the moon also. Packed with wonderful pictures of good times with friends. Can’t ask for much more. Got my preorder in yesterday but didn’t have it shipped overnight. It’s called ‘torchering myself’. UGH. Can’t wait to get my hands on the blendabilities. I’m hoping my coloring and shading will vastly improve working with these.

    • Yeah! Thank you very much Lisa! I did have fun with the Mini Book, it was fun and easy! I love the selfies, I am taking one with all of my friends, it’s a little project just for fun! I really am glad that I did overnight, I usually do 2 day and that is even too long! LOL! I used the Blendabilities at Leadership and they were great! 🙂

  8. Congratulations for getting back on the SCS team Justin. Lovely to see so many great projects in one post! I especially love the mini book. I haven’t seen you do one before, and this one is super cute using the PL cards. Looking forward to our preorder period!!

  10. Wooo hooo, AMAZINGLY AWESOME projects Justin, especially for a Friday!!! I also preordered yesterday, but will be sitting in my hands for a week, as I did not overnight my goodies, but did consider it, LOL!!! 😉 Thankfully those beautiful pansies are carrying over!! 🙂 I agree with you, my favorite of your fabulous four is the mini-album, what a fun “selfies” display of friendship and love!!! Have a super-creative and wonderful weekend!!

    • Thank you so much Laurie! I can’t wait the week! It stresses me out! LOL! I usually do two day, never next day but I was sleepy and I guess I chose the wring thing, oops! I can’t say that I’m upset that I did! Love the selfies album of peeps too, makes me smile every time I look at it! Have a great weekend! 🙂
