Hello Moonlight Feathers

Posted on

Well, we finally did get the rain last night and some really strong wind to go along with it. I would say that it really rained good from about 8:00PM until 2:00AM. Again, I’ll take the rain over snow any day thank you! And it’s beautiful and sunny out this morning! Other than that my Friday was a good one. Work was good. I did get a new 36″ HP DesignJet printer so I can print posters. It is quite large and sort of looks like a piano! I came home and crafted for a bit and watched some TV, relaxing is always a good thing. I have a ton of projects to make today, it will be a happy crafty day for me. No Manhattan this weekend, maybe next weekend?! What are all of you up to?

I didn’t have any particular challenge to post for today so I made a just for fun card. I wasn’t really loving the Tangelo Twist* but I think I may be warming up to it! My card base is Soft Sky Card Stock and the background is a piece of Tangelo Twist* that I embossed with the Modern Mosaic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It’s cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″ to let more of the base show. The greeting is from the Hello Love Host(ess)* Stamp Set and is stamped in Lost Lagoon* and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits. My two “feathers” are created with some Moonlight Designer Series Paper* and the Ovals Collection Framelits. A few Mini Glue Dots hold them in place behind the rest of the greeting which is also stamped in Lost Lagoon*. A Subtles Designer Button with a piece of Lost Lagoon* and a Basic Jewel Rhinestone that I colored with the Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers goes on the banner over the bottom of the feathers to complete the card. I think the Soft Sky, Tangelo Twist* and Lost Lagoon* make quite a bright and fun color combination don’t you?! So there is my just for fun card for today. I hope that you enjoyed it and getting a good look at the new In-Colors. I like them more and more each time I use them! Thank you for taking some time out of your day to come by and visit, it makes my day! Enjoy your Saturday! 🙂

I like this card very much. The say is cute and the feathers are a surprise, you would have expected a bird. DSP is nice too. Lost Lagoon is my favorite new color. Enjoy your weekend. 🙂

    • Thank you Nancy! I was going to use the bird from the set but then I thought I haven’t done the feathers in a while and you know how I love feathers! I’m with you on the Lost Lagoon! You enjoy your weekend too! 🙂

  2. Hi Justin! Great card…my eye went right to the button and I was thinking…how did he do that? So clever. I’ll definitely need to case that. I think I neglect my buttons because all I can think of to do is thread some ribbon or twine thru them. Thanks for the idea! I love that new hostess set also! I think the colors you chose look great together! Have a fun day crafting today!

    • Hello karen!
Thank you! I like to use the buttons but as you say most of the time we put some Bakers Twine in them. Covering up the holes gives a nice new look! The stamp set is cool, I just got it yesterday. I hope you have a nice Saturday! 🙂

  3. So tell me Justin, did I miss a post that taught how to make those feathers out of ovals? Are you keeping secrets from us? LOL Now is the time to share the secret! I think it was really neat that you used feathers instead of a bird. That way the little sucker that squealed on the person this card is for got away so fast it lost some feathers. Very cool card for sure!

We are having the heavy rain and wind that you had yesterday. It’s a good day to stay in and bake cookies instead of doing the housework that should be getting done but, I know the consequences of avoiding the housework so I’ll be good and do what is supposed to be done so this afternoon I can either make some cards or work on a quilt. That way I can watch the race tonight without feeling guilty.

Enjoy your weekend – it will go by way too quickly.

    • Hey Grace!
LOL! It’s very easy to make the feathers. Fold the Designer Series Paper in half and put the Oval Framelit over the unfolded side and run thought the Big Shot. Very easy! I would never keep a secret from you Grace! LOL! Ha ha! I love your reasoning why the bird isn’t there. One day I hope yo be as witty as you!
It’s actually lovely here today, sunny and cool. Perfect actually. I will be crafting most of the day, too much stuff to get done. Oh well. I’ll sneak out for a bit. i hope you have fun baking and either with your cards or quilt! Oh, and as always enjoy your race! 🙂

  5. Clever way yo make feathers. I never would have thought of that, thanks for sharing. I loce the idea of covering he button holes with paper. i’m big o flowers to cover or twine. Yep the Tangelo is my least favorite color, I’m not a big fan of orange in general, but I think it will be awesome for fall projects

    • Thank you Linda! I thought the DSP worked pretty well with the pattern. I like the holes covered with the paper and a rhinestone or pearl, we have to mix it up right?! Nope, I’m with you on the oranges. 🙂

  6. Hi Justin,
I love the color combo you chose! I did not get that stamp set, may need to make one more pre order! Oh who I am kidding! There is no may need about it, I will!! I have ordered something from the pre order every week so far!! Anyway, I do like this card, I like the “feathers” made with the oval framelits, they look really striking against the Tangelo Twist.
I had a pretty busy weekend, it was good, just busy! So you will see that I am posting for the last 3 days!
