Well at least it’s Thursday! My week is still crawling along. My day was nice, the weather was pretty good again although tonight is supposed to start our five day stretch of rain. I have a little rant to share with you today. I’m really enjoying this new artist called Sam Smith. He has released a bunch of songs and I love every single one of them. His album comes out soon and I can’t wait. So I saw Tuesday that he is having a concert at the Apollo Theater in NYC and tickets went on sale yesterday morning. I was on TicketMaster at exactly 10:00am and all of the tickets were sold out. Really?! Around 12:00 I went on StubHub and sure enough there are all of these tickets available for three and four times the price. Call me crazy but I thought ticket scalping was illegal? If I was the artist I would be really annoyed that people that actually wanted to see me couldn’t now because TicketMaster is a scam. Sorry, just had to share, now back to our regularly scheduled levity! 🙂

So much going on the blog this week that I’m just getting to post my Mojo Monday card today! Our sketch this week is provided by Julee Tilman…

Fun, simple and it was one of those where I created the card in my little brain when I saw the sketch. My card base is Very Vanilla Card Stock. For my background I stamped the Hardwood Background Stamp on a piece of Very Vanilla in Baked Brown Sugar and backed it with a piece of Coastal Cabana. A strip of Bermuda Bay goes down the left side and also makes the two flagged strips under the circle. Speaking of the circle it is a piece of Coastal Cabana that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits and pierced around the edge with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack. The shell is from the By the Seashore Stamp Set and is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar on Baked Brown Sugar and cut out with my Paper Snips. My greeting is from the Express Yourself Host(ess) Stamp Set and is also stamped in Baked Brown Sugar. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the shell and circle to the card. Lastly I put some Basic Jewels Pearls on the strip down the left and the two flagged strips. I really love that Hardwood Background Stamp, the best wood stamp we have ever had, I think! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Your visits are always one of the best parts of my day, I thank you for stopping by and hope that you have a good Thursday! 🙂

Wow!! Love everything about your card! The colors, the stamp sets and the layout. The touches of Bermuda Bay and the pearls are the highlights! Bring on the breach and boardwalk season!! (Maybe ticket master and other companies that sell tickets should establish a “4 tickets only” policy. Give the true fan a chance at getting to see their favorites.)

    • Thank you Beth! Yes, it’s a very beachy card. Believe it or not there was a 2 ticket max! I don’t know how they do it. I remember when you actually could get tickets through TicketMaster. 😦

  3. I love this stamp too! Thanks for the inspiration! Reminds me of the boardwalks at the Jersey Shore….so many possibilities with this one.

  4. The Hardwood stamp has become one of my “go to” stamps of all time. It’s probably one of the most versatile stamps I’ve ever owned. When I saw the sketch my mind kind of went blank for a second but then I saw your card and it was the PERFECT take for that sketch. Another fabulous card Justin.

There has been a lot of talk about sites buying bulk tickets to events lately. All of it negative. I think that if TicketMaster keeps up this “bulk” selling thing the FCC may come down on them. At least I hope they do. That is one thing I do like about the shows at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. Yes, they do sell bulk but, before they do they sell direct from the casino.

    • I agree with you about the Hardwood Stamp, I use it all the time. Thank you Grace!
It’s just very frustrating that you can’t get tickets for anything anymore around here. I hope that the FCC or someone does come after them. I love seeing concerts at Mohegan, I saw Keith Urban there a few years ago and it was great! Enjoy your day my friend! 🙂

  5. Hello Justin—remember me??? 😉 Had computer problems these last couple of days..thought I was gonna die not getting to check on my favorite artist! Love all your creations from the last few days…my goodness you are talented! Love this card with the hardwood background stamp…one of my favorites of all time! That seems so unfair about the tickets you tried to get. Unfair to the artist as well. Hope your day is going well!

    • Karen, hmm… yes, I do remember! LOL!
Thanks very much! You were missed! I hate it when technology gets in the way of our visits! You are way too kind, but I really appreciate it! I too love that Hardwood Stamp. Yes, I was very disappointed, music is so important to me and I think Sam Smith has an amazing voice and his lyrics really speak to me. I may have to break down and spend the money. I had a good day and hope that you did too! Glad to have you back! 🙂

  7. Beautiful, beautiful card Justin. But of course, I love all of your cards. I’m sorry to hear that about the tickets. Can you report Ticket Master? We have a TV station here in Spokane that one of the newscasters will check on things that are problems or issues to the general public. You email him telling him what the problem is and he gets to work by going to the source to get it resolved. Do you have anything like that in your area. This really does need to be reported. Well, enough of my rant, once again, I love your card(s).

    • Thank you so much Sandy! I wish you could report TicketMaster! We have one of those here, but I guess they are just allowed to get away with it. I appreciate your rant, it’s really not fair. I am very happy that you enjoy my cards, makes my day a little better! 🙂
