Mojo 349 & More Pics!

Posted on

Well, it was a true Monday yesterday. It pretty much rained all day and is supposed to for the rest of the week. After the beautiful weekend that we had there really is no reason to complain though! Work was work, not much exciting to report there. After work I had some dinner and then came home and made my card for today. I went to Sandy’s for her new catalog launch. It’s always fun to see everyone and catch up. The rest of the evening was uneventful, which can also be a good thing! As promised I have some more of the pictures from Sunday to share with you today!

Before we left Brooklyn we found this large area where you could play basketball and all kinds of other sports. As we walked through we found one of my favorite things in the world, a swing set! The best part was it was big enough for adults!

So there I am being a kid on the swing set! I love the fact that all of buildings are behind me too!

Here is a little selfie of Kim and I when we got on the boat, a little windy but it felt nice!

A view from the back of the boat looking downtown. That’s the Manhattan Bridge and then the Brooklyn Bridge.

A little further up and you can see the Freedom Tower.

The two tall buildings are on left, the Empire State Building and to the right the Chrysler Building.

Thats the UN Building and the tall black one is where a friend of mine lives. To the left is the Chrysler Building again.

It really was a fun day and I hope that you enjoyed all of the pictures. I’ll see if I can sneak in some more later in the week, I did take a lot of pictures!

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to let you know this week’s specials from Stampin’ Up!

Now on to the business at hand, my card today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

I used a lot of different colors, all of which are in the new All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack. My card begins with a base of Mossy Meadow Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Pistachio Pudding with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder using the Texture Boutique. The strip of paper across the bottom is a piece from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack. Following the sketch there are two diagonal strips of Daffodil Delight and a strip of Mossy Meadow on the left. My flower and leaves are from the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set. The flower is stamped in Blushing Bride for the base, Strawberry Slush for the next layer and finally Daffodil Delight for the center. The leaves are stamped in Mossy Meadow and they are all cut out using the Flower Fair Framelits. My greeting comes from the Let Your Hair Down Host(ess) Stamp Set and is also stamped in Mossy Meadow. To finish off the card I glued three of the 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins on the left. I’m loving the colors and the Flower Patch stamps give such nice crisp images and the Framelits make them super easy to cut out. I also like the layering! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I’m so happy that you stopped by and I hope that you have a nice Tuesday! 🙂

What a beautiful day you had in Manhattan on SUNday! You were able to release your inner child at the covered playground!! The New York skyline is striking against the blue sky! Love the garden theme of your card today! The two greens go wonderful together. The yellow stripes across the All Abloom DSP stack pull one’s eyes across the paper. And sequins!! Love it all! Have a great Tuesday.

    • It was a lovely day in Manhattan! Couldn’t have asked for better weather! I do love a swing!! I just can’t help myself! I was on there for a good 15 minutes! LOL! Manhattan is just a really neat city! I finally remembered to use the sequins! LOL! I hope you are having a good day! 🙂

  3. I see a whimsical card and I love it. When I saw the Flower Patch set for the first time, I knew I just had to have it. I thought why couldn’t it be one we could preorder. Anyway I have it coming this week with a large order. Can’t wait. All abloom paper stack has great colors and I like how you have them all incorporated. Especially like the angles of daffodil delight. Your pictures are always so refreshing. It’s been quite some time since I’ve been to New York and your pics bring back good memories. The swinging pic is my fav. We never lose our inner little kid. Thank you Justin.

    • Thank you Lisa! A little whimsical for sure! I also think the Flower Patch Set is a must have. I see you that you are a little impatient like me! 8. I really love the Pistachio Pudding against the Mossy Meadow. It looks like they were made for each other! Those diagonal Daffodil Delight strips really grab your eye. Love the card, Great job.

You really got some great shots over the weekend and the selfie of you and Kim is just too sweet. I never saw a covered playground before and, as many times as I’ve been to Manhattan I’ve never gone to Brooklyn. I need to do that especially because I’d like to see where a lot of old movies were filmed. Great photos all and I love the fact that you share them with us all. A great big Thank You Justin!

    • Hi Grace!
They work pretty well together! Thank you!
That iPhone camera really is awesome! I love that it takes such good pictures, I always have it with me! You definitely need to take a walk over to Brooklyn, especially DUMBO. It’s such a nice area! It makes me very happy that you enjoy seeing my pictures so thank you again! 🙂

  10. I love all the colors you pulled from the DSP. Gotta love those DSP stacks! Blushing Bride is becoming my go-with-all color lately and it was never one I would think about. Love the two In Color greens together. The diagonal strips of Daffodil add such a happy touch. Your photos are superb! Thank you so much for sharing those. I am so homesick…Nancy B

    • Hey Nancy,
Thank you! I think the DSP Stacks are the best! If I have to have a favorite pink, Blushing Bride would be it! Happy you liked seeing the pictures! 🙂

  13. Justin, Great photos!! I remember swinging like that…. many, many years ago. I lived in Bayonne till I was 14 and we had a playground across the street (under the Bayonne Bridge). Great times were had back then.

    • Thank you Gerri! I feel you are never too old to swing! It’s a good ab, leg and back workout too! We had a seingset in the backyard growing up and I can remember spending hours on it! 🙂

  14. Thank you for the photos ! What a delight and what a hoot to have a grown up swing !! I am doing this sketch and I am enjoying seeing everyone`s version of it . As I told Brian those strips stumped me ,but both of you came up with great solutions . Pretty and playful card !

    • Thank you Sonny! I’m happy that you came along for my little journey! I would like a grown up swing in my yard! It’s a good sketch and I too was looking at what everyone else did with it. Brian’s card was pretty neat too! 🙂

  15. Thank you for the delightful tour-what a sweety you are to take us along! I think the Brooklyn Bridge is beautiful. I had to smile at the first shot though, because I love to swing, too. We’re all really 5 years old, aren’t we?
Oh, and the card was great, also.😉 Flower Patch is on my wish list.

    • Welcome Georgie and thank you for coming along! I agree with you that the Brooklyn Bridge is beautiful! Yes, we are all definitely 5 inside! Glad you enjoyed the card too! 🙂
