Freshly Made Sketches 142

Posted on

Morning already! I feel like I just went to bed! I had to run into Manhattan last night to help a friend with some computer issues and by the time I got home it was 11:20. I still had to make a card and type my post so I sat down at the craft desk, or what’s left of it, and got to work. It’s funny how I can get home that late and still look forward to making something. There was no packing last night however, pending the weather my friend Fred from work is going to come over and we are going to start moving the furniture later on today. Andrew is supposed to help too. Fingers crossed people that it doesn’t rain until the earliest Monday!

The card that I made when I got home last night is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Jennifer B….

Freshly Made Sketches #142

Thankfully it is a nice simple sketch! I started my card with some Very Vanilla Card Stock. The panel is one of the Project Life Everyday Adventure Journaling Cards that I trimmed and rounded the corner with the Project Life Corner Rounder. A strip of Bermuda Bay is embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered across the lower half of the card. I received my new plates for the Texture Boutique yesterday and I’m happy to report that they work great! I used the Circle Card Thinlits Dies to cut out some Crushed Curry for the chevrons and Bermuda Bay for the greeting. Some slivers of Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. It needed a little something so I sprinkled some sequins around to finish off the card. I actually like the mix of different arrows/chevrons and love the colors together! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I really do appreciate you taking the time to visit with me and love reading your comments! I hope you all have a nice Thursday! 🙂

  1. Hello Justin! Are you on your second, third or fourth cup of coffee by now?? 😉 My goodness, short night for you. Thank you for having a post for us today! We appreciate that, especially with everything that you have going on right now! Cute card—love the arrows and chevrons together. I seem to use this same color combo too, love it! I think you deserve a big “YAY” for all that you’ve been doing here the last week or so! Have a great day and I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the rain stays away for you! Have an awesome day!

    • Hi Karen!
I am on my second cup of coffee, I need about 12 more! LOL! I wouldn’t miss a post! I felt much better after I sat down and made the card last night. It’s a fun and simple card. I love Bermuda Bay and haven’t been using it much, I have opted for the In-Colors lately. I need to get some more DSP! Good it will be on sale next week! I appreciate the kudos! I hope that the rain stays away too and that you have a n amazing day! 🙂

Good Morning Justin! Looks like you have everything pointing in the right direction!! On your card and with your move!! Love the color combo and the little Crushed Curry chevrons on the Bermuda Bay embossed arrows panel! The colored sequins finish it off perfectly! Hope you have a nice stretch of clear sky’s over the next few days! You always make our days brighter with your blog!

    • Good morning Beth!
Let’s hope that everything stays pointing in that direction! Thank you! You always make my days brighter too! Enjoy your Thursday! 🙂

  3. Love the card, Justin! The Project Life Cards sure come in handy! Good luck with the move…and I’ll do my best to keep the nasty weather to the west of you….till Monday. And then you can have it! 🙂

    • Thank you Melanie! The Project Life Cards are really neat. I should use them for a scrapbook page! Maybe in a few weeks when everything settles down! I appreciate your weather maintenance and I’ll be more than happy to take it after Monday! 🙂

  4. Hi Justin! What a fun card!! Love the colors. I think I need to get some of those Project Life cards! Thanks for sharing! Have a great day!

    • Hey Gerri!
Thank you! The Project Life Cards are fun! I did get them with the intention of using them for their intended purpose but they make fun additions to cards! Enjoy your day! 🙂

  5. O.K. Justin, you can laugh at me if you want when I tell you this……… immediate thought when I saw the card this morning was “look at the direction of all those arrows. Poor Justin’s been running back and forth to and from his new apartment so much that subconsciously, he doesn’t know whether he’s coming or going:!” LOL Fun card and you just know I love bright colors. I really don’t have a clue how you accomplish so much every day. Please, please share some of that energy!

    Have yourself a Wondrous Wednesday!

    • No Grace, I completely agree with your analogy! That’s exactly how I have felt for the past few weeks! I am running low on energy, I need some more coffee!! Sorry for my late reply too! 🙂

  6. Yay for todays card! I passed up Project Life since I don’t scrapbook. But……seeing people using the journaling cards, they might just end up on my next order. Nice colors and like all the arrows/chevrons. You are probably running on a ‘natural high’ with the excitement of your new digs. You’ll be able to relax once everything is in place. Won’t that be nice!

    • Thank you Lisa! I actually got the Project Life stuff with the intent of scrapbooking but it works pretty well for cards too! I am petering put a bit! LOL! Sorry for my late reply! 🙂

  7. Yay!!!! Cute card, love the color choices. I was right, you never sleep. LOL Are you running on caffeine or adrenaline? LOL

  8. Justin, your card is perfect as always!! Totaly love the arrows and the word die! The sequins are a perfect touch!!
Gosh,i wished i’de be crafting after 11pm!! hehe I used to do that as well, but now for some reason,my crafty brain only seems to function in the mornings when my girls are in school or around afternoon, when they go outside with their friends!! I’m getting old!! haha
Thank you so much for joining us at FMS!!

    • Thank you very much Cindy! I Love the word dies and wish we had lots more! I was so happy when I found those sequins, they are a pretty close match to Bermuda Bay! If I am going to be crafting that late I am thinking about what I’m going to do during the day. We are all getting old! LOL! Have a super weekend! 🙂

  9. Just catching up – Love this card Justin! PL cards make great simple cards – the added elements here really take it up a notch! Can’t believe you made this so late at night – I could not think creatively at that time of night! Praying for fine weather for you this weekend – hope the great progress with the move continues!

    • I’m catching up too Joanne! Thank you! Yes, the PL cards are a nice way to get a quick card together! LOL! I was thinking about what I was going to make when I was on the train, that’s the only reason it happened that late! So far the weather is supposed to be good so it’s working!! Things are chugging along! 🙂

  10. What a fun and trendy card! Those arrows are fabulous! Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.
