Paper Craft Crew 100 and a Birthday!

Posted on

Today is a very special day because it’s a very special person’s birthday! Today is Andrew’s birthday! Happy birthday to one of the best friends that anyone could ever hope for! He has been the biggest help with all of my stuff going on lately and I owe him big time! LOL! So happy birthday my friend and I hope that you have a day just as awesome as you are!! I’ll post his card as soon as I get to give it to him! 🙂

Today is Wednesday which means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

PCCCS100 7-02-2014

WhenI saw the sketch I knew exactly what I wanted to do for the middle panel and then the rest of the card just fell into place! The card starts off with a base of So Saffron Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Lullaby Designer Series Paper Pack. My middle panel is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with one of the stamps from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set in Crisp Cantaloupe. I backed it with a piece of Pistachio Pudding and adhered it to the card. A strip of adhesive cork sheet goes across the middle instead of ribbon. The wood banner and bird are also from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set and are both stamped in So Saffron. The wood banner is cut out with the Banners Framelits and the bird with my Paper Snips. My greeting is from the And Many More Stamp Set and is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar on Pistachio Pudding and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. I used the fork method to tie a tidy little piece of Crisp Cantaloupe Baker’s Twine into a bow and adhered it to the banner with a Mini Glue Dot. I love the soft colors and my favorite part is the way the flower stamped background turned out! I really hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Pop by the BLOG and see the other designers creations and add yours so I can take a peek! There is also some blog candy up for grabs! Thank you so much for your visit, have a great day!! 🙂

  1. Justin,
Perfect! You are the King of collage! You never fail with it! Not that I think you could!! Too much talent!
I am on day 3 of bed rest, arghhhh! But I am catching up on some tv shows, some sleep (who I am kidding, a lot of sleep)! I did have to run out yesterday to get some lab tests done and boy am I not ready to do that anytime soon!
Happy Birthday Andrew! I hope it is a good one! Thanks for taking such good care of Justin! You really are a great friend! Do you have plans for your big day!
Justin, I hope you are taking some needed rest this week, I know you don’t like having the boxes around but they will eventually get unpacked. Just ask mine, I have lived here for 5 months, almost 6, and I still have boxes to unpack. Not a lot, but some…I will get to them soon!
    Have a great Wednesday!

    • Donna,
Thank you very much! I do love a collage, even if it’s just a little! I’m sorry to hear that you are still not 100%. Sending good thoughts your way! Andrew will be out drinking with his friends tonight, I hope that he has an awesome time! He deserves it! I am not going crazy unpacking everything. It will still be there (driving me slowly insane!) but I need to do a few minutes of nothing every now and then. I will get everything finished in time. I had a good day and hope that you are feeling even a little better! 🙂

  2. Cool card for this week’s sketch Justin. Don’t forget to wish Andrew a Happy Birthday from your Aussie connection for me. 🙂

  3. Nancy Farrell

Happy Birthday Andrew! Justin, you surprised me on two techniques on your card. The stamped flowers look just like DSP and your fussy cutting of the bird is fantastic. I also like your colors. Great card! 🙂

    • Thank you Nancy! Andrew reads the comments! I’m happy you liked the card! I really love that flower “Designer Series Paper”! Much more than I thought I would! 🙂

  4. Happy Wednesday Justin! MIddle of week, yay!! 😉 First off…a VERY Happy Birthday to Andrew!! I hope you have a nice day, Andrew! And can’t wait to see the special card Justin made for you! Love this card Justin! You do a wonderful job on these collage-y types of cards. Mine always end up looking messy! I’m lovin’ the colors you used also. I’m still in awe of your steady hand with the fussy-cutting…great job on that. Hope you have a great day!

    • Happy Wednesday Karen! It’s almost the end of the week!! Tomorrow is sort of Friday! I hope Andrew likes his card! I’ll give it to him tomorrow. Thank you! I really do like the collage cards! The Choose Happiness Set was made for them! The fussy cutting is a favorite thing of mine to do! My day was good and I hope that yours was too! 🙂

Good Morning Justin, A happy, happy birthday to Andrew!! He deserves a special celebration as he is a loyal, thoughtful and talented friend to you (and to others I bet!)!
Love so many of the elements on this card especially the stamped “DSP” that you created! The bird cutting is wonderful. You have me sold on using cork on some of my creations!! I bought a whole roll of the self adhesive cork so I better get busy!! Have an enjoyable day!

    • Good evening Beth!
Andrew is the best! He will have a great day I’m sure! A little cork goes a long way! Maybe Stampin’ Up! will carry some of their own soon?! I hope you had a nice day! 🙂

  6. Happy, happy, happy birthday Andrew! What a good friend and special talent you are. I hope you have a spectacular birthday and I’m sure your friends will treat you as well as you treat them.

Oh Justin, it’s a good thing you tell us when you use your snips because the images sure as heck look like they were cut with framelits. Great job once again. You made me laugh when you mentioned the “fork” method, it’s been a long time since I heard that phrase or knew someone who used it. I think I have something like 4 or 5 contraptions that are supposed to help me make the “perfect” bow and be my “third hand”. None of them work as well as the fork.

Have yourself a “Wicked Good” (as they say here in Maine) Wednesday and be sure to let Andrew know we are all cheering and singing Happy Birthday to him.

    • I’m sure that Andrew is having a nice time today! He does deserve it! LOL! I wish there was a Framelit for everything but then I wouldn’t get to wow you with my scissor skills! LOL! I don’t know what made me think to use the fork method! I had to watch a YouTube video to remember how it’s been that long for me too! I have the Bow Easy and it’s anything but! I like that expression Wicked Good! Andrew I’m sure has read the comments! I hope you Wednesday was awesome as they say here! 🙂

  7. Donna from PA

    Hello Justin,
Awesome! Love the card and color choices, but then again, you never cease to amaze me. I’m so glad that your move went well. The weather was perfect and your friends are wonderful. Scrap room looks great too!
Happy birthday to you, Andrew! Hope Justin takes you out for a few drinks and a delicious dinner. (HINT-HINT). Well, you guys have a fabulous Wednesday and enjoy the rest of your day 😉 .

    • Hello Donna!
Thank you! I hope never do cease to amaze you! I’m glad you like the stamp closet! LOL! It’s definitely cozy but functional! I will take Andrew out sometime over the next week, he definitely deserves it! I hope you had a great Wednesday! 🙂

  8. I like this card . I guess I will have to get this stamp set . Everybody loves it and it does have versatility. I like your cork addition !
    Happy birthday Friend Andrew !!!!

  9. Happy Birthday Andrew!!! I just know you will love the great card Justin made you. Is there a bottle of wine that goes along with the cork embellishment? Have a wonderful, relaxing, sweet day, both of you…with love, Nancy B

    • Thanks Nancy! I had the bottle of wine on Monday night! LOL! I had a good day and I’m sure that Andrew did too! Hope yours was great! 🙂
