Freshly Made Sketches 147

Posted on

Yup, it’s Saturday and I’m headed into Manhattan to spend some quality time with Kim and her brother and sister! We are going to get some Diner breakfast and wait for them to arrive. They should be in around 12:00PM. I thinking that we will wander around for a bit, something that I love to do as you know! Yesterday was my boss’ birthday so we had lunch together which is always nice. The day was busy but I got a lot done. Next week promises to be busy too but busy makes the day go by. Last night I relaxed for a bit, crafted for a bit and even got in a little TV time. A nice quiet evening is just what you need sometimes!

Now on to the card that I have for you today and it’s for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. This week our sketch is provided by Jen T….

Freshly Made Sketches #147

Love it! As soon as I saw the stripes I knew exactly what I wanted to do. My card base is a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock. I covered the entire front with a piece of Brushed Gold Metallic Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Basic Black and some Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape strips go down the right side. Around the lower part I wrapped some Linen Thread and tied one of the new Gold Basic Metal Buttons* to the card. Quite a few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the background to the base. My fun mustache is form the Well Worded Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Basic Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on another piece of Brushed Gold. I used the Mustache Framelit to cut it out and Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it in place. I love the simplicity of the Black and Gold together and the Linen Thread gives it a little bit of a rustic feel. I hope that you like my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. As always, I appreciate you stopping by and I hope that you all enjoy your Saturday! 🙂

    Hi Justin!
I love how you used the washi tape on this card. I have several tapes and they feel so awkward to use other than taping an envelope shut (or the battery cover on the remote-it looks pretty!) I’m going to case this!!! Have fun in the city… We will be headed out to the country today!

  4. A day late . . . Hi Justin. I like this masculine card very much and I like yesterdays stars and cloud card too. This mustache is the perfect touch. Hope your Manhattan plans didn’t get too rained on.

  5. Hi Justin! Great card! Love that mustache framelit! I tend to stay away from washi tape too but I need to bring that out more. I love how yours looks on this card! I really like the black and gold combo with the linen thread. Have fun in the city, can’t wait to see the pics!

    • Hello Karen!
Thank you! I love the mustache, I had to have it, it goes with mine! LOL! I find that if I leave things that have been neglected within reach they get used! I was going to use Baker’s Twine but I thought the Linen Thread would change up the look a bit. The day is off to good start, yummy breakfast! I hope that you enjoy your Saturday too! 🙂

Hi Justin, this is a perfect “man” card…not too fussy but still very creative. Have a fun day in the city. I wish I got up there more. My daughter lives on the Upper East side and we always have such a good time when I do make the trip (just from PA…not that far!) BTW…Joann Fabrics has the OTT lights on sale for 50% off with free shipping. Enjoy your Day!

    • Hello Roseanne!
Thank you very much! I love the mustache and there is some interest with the button and the gold, not as plain as your usual man card! I am on the Upper East side at 94th and 2nd, that’s where my friend lives. My parents are in PA today visiting my grandmother. Two things that we have in common! Thanks for the tip about the Ott lights! You have a wonderful day! 🙂

  12. Washi tape is perfect for this sketch! I love how you’ve kept this card so clean, as it allows one to focus on the sentiment on the mustache (which I’ve never noticed before). Good to see you at Freshly Made Sketches again!
