Happy Thursday! It rained a lot here on Tuesday night, some places got 13 inches in a few hours. There was a lot of flooding, I had a little puddle in front of my door inside but our poor friend Fred had a full 2 inches of water in his apartment. So many of the roads were flooded that some of my co-workers sat in their cars for over 3 hours waiting for them to get things moving. The news said that it was worse than Hurricane Sandy as far as the rain went. Weather is just really odd around here lately. Around 1:00PM the skies cleared up and the sun was out for the rest of the day. Hopefully it helped dry up some of the harder hit areas.
Now as for Andrew’s little post yesterday, I knew which one of the choices would be the most popular! LOL! I will tell you that the knee feels much better today, I can actually touch it. But if it’s not much better by Friday you may get your wish! LOL! Stay tuned!
I got a nice surprise in the mail today! When I was at Convention I went to Starbucks with my friend Eva and while we were there I bought a Salt Lake City mug. She asked if I collected them and I said yes. Well guess what my surprise was?! Here it is…
How cool is that?!?! Thank you so much Eva!! That was so sweet of you! I’ll bet that my coffee will taste much better tomorrow morning having it from my new Starbucks mug!! I just noticed that the hands on the Catalog look like they are holding the mug! Pretty neat! 🙂
Now off we go to today’s card which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch from the lovely Julee Tilman…
I don’t know what it is with me and shaker cards lately! I hadn’t made one in forever and now I have made about five! LOL! I did use some new goodies from the Holiday Catalog too, loving all of it! The base for today’s card is Smoky Slate Card Stock. For my background I used a piece of paper from the All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper* Pack along the bottom and across the seam is a piece of the All is Calm Designer Washi Tape*. They are adhered to a piece of Lost Lagoon and that is adhered to the base with SNAIL. The frame is cut out from a piece of Smoky Slate, the window with the Squares Collection Framelits. I adhered a piece of Window Sheet behind the square and behind that is another piece of paper from the All is Calm DSP Pack. Before I put the shaker together I added some of the snowflakes from the Frosted Sequins*. The snowflake on the window, the smaller one and the snow are all cut out with the Snowflake Card Thinlits* from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. A piece of Lost Lagoon is flagged on both ends and serves as the backdrop for the small snowflake and snow. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the shaker. I really love Lost Lagoon, I think it is my favorite blue ever and what better paper for snow that the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer?! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch and that you are not sick of the shaker cards just yet! Thank you so much for sharing in my day today! I love having you visit and your comments are always a highlight of my day! I wish you all a happy Thursday! 🙂

Wow! I really love this card! I bought the other flip card framelits and haven’t used them, but now I think I need this one! We need some of that rain you got! I haven’t been able to get into my mom cave all week..working double shifts to cover for someone on vacation..I’m so tired everyday!
Thank you very much Stephanie! I love the flip card Thinlits! I’m looking forward to making a card with actual snowflake card Thinlit! I would have been happy to send you the rain as would everyone else here! I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t had any crafty time! They should give you extra time off when the person comes back! 🙂
Good morning Justin, I heard about all the rain you received on the news….glad you were not too terribly affected. Your card is super. I am so looking forward to the new catalog so I can finally see all the “teasers” you’ve been showing. Hope you have a dry and sunny day!
Hello Roseanne!
Yes, we had a lot of rain, not as much here as they did further east on the island. Thank you! You are going to love the new Catalog!! I had a lovely day and hope that you did too! 🙂
I actually said “wow” out loud when I scrolled down and saw this card… It’s beautiful!
Woo hoo! That’s excellent Julene! Tank you so much! 🙂
Glad to hear that you did not have any water in your place. When I heard about the flooding on Long Island I thought of you. I love the colors on your card! You have convinced me that I need some more of the new items from the Holiday Catalog! Great Job!
Yes Kathy, I was very happy that there was only a little water by the front door. Thanks for thinking of me! I’m so happy that you like the card too! The Holiday Catalog is just awesome! 🙂
How cool, Justin, I’m a mug collector too! I was recently in NYC visiting (I know I should have looked you up!) and bought the neatest mug at Starbucks in Times Square of the city.
Yes, the mug is great! It’s nice to know there are more of us mug collectors out there! Gasp! You were in NYC and didn’t tell me?! Next you have to let me know! Yes, the Starbucks mug that you speak of is really neat! 🙂
Wow Justin!! I LOVE your card for today!!! I love shaker cards and they are easier to make than they look. Love the glimmer paper, the snowflakes, the colors you used…everything!! Just gorgeous! Fun mug you received as a gift, how nice of her. It does look like the hands are holding it. Glad you made it thru all that rain with very little damage. A little puddle is easy to clean up! Have a great day…gonna go back and stare at your card just a little bit longer! 😉
Thank you very much Karen! I am really loving the shaker cards too, I had to stop myself from making another one tonight! LOL! Love the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper for the snow! The mug was greatly appreciated and it was super nice of Eva! The puddle was no big deal! You are too cute! I hope that your day was nice too! 🙂
Just a gorgeous card! I agree that Lost Lagoon is a fantastic color and looks good with almost anything.
I did think of you last night when I saw the flooding on Long Island- glad you did OK.
Still no doctor visit huh? Hopefully you made the right decision and that you are really on the mend. Thanks Justin.
Thank you so much Marty! Lost Lagood is one of the best colors we have in my opinion! I am going to have to start hoarding it! LOL! Thanks for thinking of me, everything was ok around here. No, still no Dr. visit but it really does feel better. I hope I am making the right decision too! 🙂
Justin, such a pretty card! I’m sitting here thinking “how did this thinlit get past me in the new catalog?” I just looked it up. I hadn’t noticed all the cool smaller dies that came with it. I may have to put this on my list …. groan. I think I’ve ordered almost everything in this catalog. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you Gerri! It is not very big in the catalog, I missed it the first time through. I love the smaller dies with it especially the words! We need more of them! LOL! It was already on my list! I feel your pain and I’m right there with you! I hope you had a nice day! 🙂
Hi Justin:
At first I was going to scold you for using the “S” word already. Then I saw the card and went a little bonkers over it. I love that you put snowflakes from the Frosted Sequins inside and added the glimmer paper ones to it for the absolutely perfect combo. How much longer must we wait to get our copies of the new Holiday catalog? No need to answer, that was rhetorical LOL! There really aren’t enough adjectives to describe how much I love this card.
I think we got the storm you guys had last night. According to our rain gauge, we got almost 4 full inches of rain in a very short 2 hour period. The lightning was amazing and, if I weren’t such a coward, I would have gone outside and tried to get some photos.
So, you think your knee is better or are you still trying to avoid the doctor? I understand as I hate going to the doctor also but alas, we have Andrew and can count on him to save you from yourself (thank you Andrew from each and every one of Justin’s loyal followers).
Have yourself a Tremendous Thursday. So glad you didn’t get flooded out especially after only just moving in. Since you already brought up the “S” word, I hope you don’t have trouble with your entry door being snowed in come “wintah”. LOL
Hello Grace!
LOL! I’m glad that you checked out the card before you yelled! I am so happy that you enjoyed the card and I promise that I’ll lay off the shaker/winter cards for a while! LOL! You don’t have a catalog yet?! That’s just not right!!
Yes, I think that we sent the rain up to you, sorry about that! We thankfully didn’t have any lighting (or I just didn’t hear it!) Winston doesn’t like the thunder at all! Staying inside when it’ lightning is being a coward, it’s being smart!
No, I really think that it’s getting better! And yes, we are lucky to have Andrew, especially me!
I had a nice Thursday and hope you did too! I hope that we have a very mild winter thank you! LOL! 🙂
Okay …I got my order Friday and now I wish I had included a couple of things that you have on this great winter card ! Love your card …it is so cute !
And I am NOT going to say anything about “The Knee” !
Isn’t that the way it always goes Sonny! Thank you! So glad you like the card! I appreciate the lack of knee comments! 🙂
I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT. Did I say I LOVE IT?! 🙂
Yeah!! Thank you, thank you, thank you Kathy!! 🙂
Hey buddy old pal,
OMG!!!!! This card is absolutely stunning! 🙂 I love it! Beautifully designed, colors are awesome! I love, love, love it. Again, you just blow me away with all your creativity.
Tell Andrew l said hello, and that l’m rooting for him. Go Andrew Go!!!!
Take care and have a great evening. Tomorrow’s Friday! 🙂 Donna
Hey there my friend!
Yeah! Thank you very much Donna! I thank you 1000 times!!
I will let Andrew know that you say hello and he will be happy to hear that you are on his side! LOL!
It’s almost Friday and it couldn’t come soon enough! Hugs! 🙂
Justin,
Wow! This is fantastic! I too love the Lost Lagoon color, it really has a lot of depth to it. And it is great on this card. I have not yet tired of your shaker cards, I really like them. I have to get the courage up to try one myself, I haven’t made one in many, many years. I love that your cut the snowflakes and snow out of the dazzling diamonds, it is perfect for snow.
I am glad your knee is better, but deep down, I really wanted the video of Andrew getting you to the doctors! hehehe!
Wow! That is a lot of rain! We got rain up until late yesterday morning but nothing like you did! Glad you weren’t too affected.
My granddaughter left this morning with her other grandparents to fo to Chicago for a week and a half. She is 34 months and she is amazing about going places with others, she never cries or carries on when she leaves…
I am going to use this time to get some cards made and maybe start another canvas, I haven’t had the time to just sit and create!
Hope your Thursday is terrific!
Donna
Donna,
Thank you so very much! Lost Lagoon is the bomb! I have had way too much fun making the skater cards!! You definitely need to make one, they are so cool! Yes, Dazzling Diamonds was made for snow!!
Ha ha! Maybe he will do the video just for fun! LOL! I’m sure that he would love it just as much as you!
Yes, too much rain too quickly. Weird weather indeed!
WOW! That’s great that she is that young and that good. Daniel is like that and he is only 9 months today actually! He is crawling and sitting up by himself! They grow up too fast!
I still want to see the canvas by the way!! 🙂
I hope that you had a great day! Hugs! 🙂
love the card, I haven’t tried a shaker card yet, must put it on the to do list. Now about the knee….just because you can touch it doesn’t mean it’s better! My friend hobbled around for a month with a sore foot on to find out a month later he had two broken bones!! oh, he could also touch it….see a doctor 🙂
Thank you Lynne! Yes, you must try one, they are great fun! I will take your example into consideration, and thanks for your concern! 🙂
Be still my little heart!!! WOW!!! Super beautiful card, Justin! I have never made a shaker card, but I’ve been saving all yours on my computer and am going to give this a go today, since it’s my day off. I love Lost Lagoon as well and it’s gorgeous with the All is Calm paper and accessories. Thanks for the inspiration and the chance to CASE yours! And, glad the knee is better, but it may be a good idea to check it out just the same, at least an x-ray. Oh and I love your new mug too (not only your face, but your coffee cup) 🙂 🙂
LOL! Thank you very much Bobbi! You need to make a shaker card, they are quite addicting as you can see! Did you end up making one? Can I see it?! I will see if I have some time this weekend to get the knee looked at. No promises, but thank for your concern! My mug is great!! I’m a lucky boy!! HA HA! That was a good one! 🙂
Pretty as a picture. Those little snowflakes are perfect for shaker cards. WOW! The last thing you need is a ton of water in your new digs. Lucky for you it was just a small puddle. With as much walking as you do, the knee needs to be in tip top shape. Hope it gets better.
Thank you Lisa! Yes, the sequins that we have do work great for shakers as do the punches! No, I need no water in the new digs and thankfully there was only a little bit! I would think that if there was something really wrong with my knee I wouldn’t be able to walk without a little bit of pain and it doesn’t hurt at all when I walk. Thanks for your concern! 🙂
WOW, I know I say that every post but honesty, this card is breathtakingly beautiful. I love shaker cards, but the is more then a shaker. i love the big snowflake which defines the card. not to mention my fav color lost lagoon. seriously, this is fantastic, I have this snowflakes thin lets , i can’t wait to play with it and of course attempt to case this. Thanks
Thank you very much Linda! I never tire of hearing that, I won’t lie! Lost Lagoon is the best and the new Thinlit is cool (no pun intended!)! Have fun with your Thinlits! 🙂
I think this is my favorite shaker card. Beautiful!
🙂
Yeah! Thank you Nancy! 🙂
Love it!! Snowflakes for me are like your feathers, now I have more Must Haves on my list… Have a fabulous Friday, and get that knee looked at!
Thank you Jeffie! Ahh… I completely understand! My Friday was good and I hope that yours was too! I know! 🙂
Love it! Resisted this set on preorder … But you’re making me want it now! Hope that knee is improving. X
Thank you very much Joanne! The knee is better, thanks for asking! 🙂
