Hello there and welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour! This time around the theme is simple and elegant! If you are following along on the tour that means that you have arrived here from the fabulous Debbie Henderson’s blog! Always a treat to see what she has for us! I have two cards for you both of which you would have no trouble mailing! Let’s get to them shall we?!
Up first is a simple card that uses a fun color combo. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock, cut to 3 3/4″ wide, and I used the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set to stamp three of the butterflies, two in Pistachio Pudding and one in Wisteria Wonder at the bottom. A strip of Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper goes across the lower half and is flagged on the right. A strip of Back to Black Designer Series Paper goes on top of that to the left. Three more butterflies are stamped, two in Wisteria Wonder and one in Pistachio Pudding. They are punched out with Elegant Butterfly Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the And Many More Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black just under the banner. A simple elegant card that would make a nice sympathy or encouragement card.
The second card uses one of my favorite embossing folders but on a color I don’t think I have used it on before. My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to cover the whole card front. I took a piece of Sahara Sand and stamped the flower from the Bloom With Hope Host Stamp Set in Sahara Sand randomly to create a subtle background. Next I stamped the same flower in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it in with my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. Some Paper Snips cut it and the stem out which is colored in with my Old Olive Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. The stem is adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue and the flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Next up I tied a piece of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine in a bow around the background and over the stem. My greeting is from the Something to Say Stamp Set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce the circle and them mounted it to the background with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the base to the card with some more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the depth that the Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers give the flower, it almost looks 3D, and the wood embossed Cherry Cobbler is pretty neat!
And there my two simple and elegant card for this month’s Control Freaks Tour! I really hope that you enjoyed and are inspired by them! Next up for your viewing pleasure is Dawn Olchefske! Enjoy the rest of the tour and if you started here with me make sure that you go all the way around! Thank you so much for coming by and enjoy the rest of your day! 🙂

Hi Justin:
My, my – what have we done to deserve 3 amazing cards all in the same day! You sure are one busy young man!
The first card is just amazing. It looks like those butterflies are in flight with shadows behind them. Perfect for sympathy cards (which I never make because I never feel like what I’m doing is good enough for that particular type of card), wonderful as an a wedding card, anniversary card, birthday card, get well card, I care card – you name it. The colors are warm and soft and beautiful and the white space is just the perfect amount so that the card is elegant yet not overdone.
The rose card really jumps out at you. Popping the rose with dimensionals made it truly come alive. Absolutely fabulous.
I hope you had a terrific Tuesday. The weather here was picture perfect and a great day to sit on the porch with friends and relax, which is exactly what I did. A rare thing for me. I felt a bit guilty not doing the things I was supposed to do but, what the heck – we all need some “do nothing” time to enjoy without feeling guilty. 🙂
Hello Grace!
I would give you 10 cards a day if I could! It’s Control Freaks Tour day so my post goes up the night before! Yes, very busy, but I love it!
Thank you! I do love butterflies as they are my mum’s favorite! None of us like to make sympathy cards but we do need them and this one doesn’t feel sad. I thought it would work well for a lot of other things too. I do love a card with lots of white space, they are more fun to make!
I love the Blendabilities, so much fun to use. I’m glad I never knew what Copics were, I may have gone broke! LOL!
I am so glad that you enjoyed the two cards. Your descriptions make them so much better! I had a good Tuesday and a great Wednesday! It was a nice day to sit and do nothing, I’m glad that you got to take advantage of that! I need a do nothing day really soon! I’m sitting outside on my laptop doing my comments this evening, it’s a nice change! Enjoy your evening my friend! 🙂
LOVE the Basic Black with the soft colors on the first card- very elegant! Especially love the homemade DSP and gorgeous coloring on the second card!
Thank you Melissa! Enjoy the rest of your week we’re almost done! 🙂
two beautiful cards – you did it again!
Thank you Jodi! Happy you enjoyed them! Hope that you had a good day! 🙂
I don;t know where you ever find time to be so creative
I love the elegance of the first card, simple but elegant, and the second card is perfect. I love your colors and layout. awesome job!
I need to be creative, I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t make things! Thank you! So glad that you like the cards! Enjoy your evening! 🙂
I really love both cards, but the second one is to die for! It is just soooo put together. I especially love your stamped Sahara Sand piece for the background. I have got to use that idea. It is also so much fun to see another flower using the Blendabilities. That’s a nice one.
Thank you very much Mary Alice! I am partial to the second card too! I don’t use Cherry Cobbler a lot except for Holiday stuff but it makes a neat backdrop for the flower. I try to make my own backgrounds when I can, random stamping is so much fun! I needed to try another flower besides the Blended Bloom! The ones in that set are great! 🙂
Wow Justin, both cards are very nice! I love those little butterflies….sort of fluttering by so softly. But that Cherry Cobbler with the wood grain EF is gorgeous! I love how you stamped on the Sahara Sand…it makes such a soft and subtle background for that pop of color on the main flower. I think sometimes I tend to neglect Sahara Sand; I really don’t know why, it always looks great when I do use it. I’ll have to pull it out more often. Thanks for sharing and giving us such beautiful cards today! Hugs! 🙂
Thank you so much Bobbi! The first card is nice and soft. Quiet but not boring. I have been using a lot of Sahara Sand, it makes a great change from White and Vanilla. We need to mix it up right?! Thanks again! Big Hugs to you! 🙂
Great job for the blog hop this month. Both cards are gorgeous and I love the color combo on both!
Thank you Debbie! I had fun making them! 🙂
Beautiful cards!
Thank you Heidi! 🙂
Hi Justin! Great, wonderful, beautiful cards! Love the both of them! Your coloring is as awesome as your fussy-cutting! 🙂 Love the paper-piercing, that really makes it all pop! Beautiful color combos too! Have a fantastic day!
Hello Karen! Thank you! I love the markers and you know how I feel about my Paper Snips! LOL! I forget about the Paper-Piercing, it does add a lot, need to pull them out more often! I hope that you had a good day! 🙂
Like your cards ! Your coloring is a special treat and the piercing adds a lot ! Well done !
Thank you Sonny! I’m loving the markers! What did we do before! LOL! 🙂
I love both cards, but the cherry cobbler rose pops right at you, love!! BTW, week is half gone!!
Thank you Lynne! I’m partial to the second one too! Yes, the week is almost over!! 🙂
