Paper Craft Crew 106

Posted on

Hey there readers! It’s Thursday and I’m hoping that my happy Wednesday carries over! LOL! I had a nice day at work yesterday because I got to run errands in the morning! I went to the Apple Store to pick up a MacBook that was dropped off for repairs, then off to Michaels to get some poster frames, I had to stop at the post office to mail out my Control Freaks swaps and see my friend. I’m glad that you enjoyed the Control Freaks Tour yesterday. I always have a lot of fun making my projects and then like I always say the best part is reading your comments! It really does make all of the effort well worth it! I’m going to sneak into the city on Saturday morning to see my friend Kim and pay a little visit to Sam Flax. I am feeling to need to use my Filofax Organiser again! Ahh… the good old days of my trusty paper organizer! I guess my addiction to paper is getting worse! LOL!

I’m a day late with my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch, I was a kind of tired Tuesday night that I haven’t felt before! I guess 8 hours of sleep in three days will do that! LOL! But I have it for you today and here is the sketch…

PCCCS106 Sketch 8-20-2014

I played around with some more new Holiday Catalog goodies! You only have one more week to wait to get your new stuff! My card uses a piece of Mossy Meadow Card Stock for the base. The background is a piece of Whisper White that I embossed with the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder*. My main panel is stamped with the tree and garland from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set*, the tree is stamped in Mossy Meadow and the garland is heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I backed it with Mossy Meadow. The panel behind it is a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. The panels are adhered to each other with SNAIL and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used the Star Framelits to cut out a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper and adhered that to the bottom right of the panels. My greeting is also from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set* and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a strip of Cherry Cobbler. Three enamel dots to the left of the panels completes the card. A simple fun traditional Christmas card with a little sparkle from the star and garland! There is my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Stop by the blog and take a look at what the rest of the design team has done for the sketch and enter your card in the gallery so we can see what you come up with! Thank you for taking some time out of your day to spend with me! I appreciate it! Have a super Thursday peeps! 🙂

  2. Oh so, so,so,so,so pretty Justin! It’s so nice to actually see a Christmas card in traditional colors. I love the silver garland and the paper coordination is A-1 perfect! The On Point EF really lets you showcase the beauty in the rest of this card. Absolutely fantastic job! Hope you get to Manhattan this weekend, it’s been a while. Thanks for this fabulous design Justin.

    • Thank you very much Grace! I don’t often do Christmas card in traditional colors, so it’s a rarity! Love that On Point folder on the white, just give it a little texture and lets the centerpiece shine through! I will get into the city and have some pics for you! Hopefully the weather cooperates! 🙂

  3. Hi Justin! Another great card! I’m kind of in a christmas/holiday mode so I was happy to see your card today! I’m loving that Festival of Trees stamp set….there are so many things you can do with it!! Love how you tied in the new embossing folder as it mimics the shape of the trees a bit. Glad that you were able to sneak out of work for a bit yesterday. Those little “field trips” are fun, aren’t they? Have a great day…one day closer to the weekend! 🙂

    • Hello Karen!
Thank you! I think that starting on Holiday cards early is a good idea! We won’t make it come any quicker by doing so! LOL! The Festival of Trees is a nice set, it has a wide choice of designs from traditional to more modern for the trees! The EF is just perfect! The work field trips are definitely the best! I had a nice day and hope that you did too! 🙂

    • Hello Marty!
Thank you! I do love the Mossy Meadow, nice and rich, like it was made for Cherry Cobbler! The earlier we start, the less stressed we will be! 🙂

  6. A beautiful card…. I just love the colors. And that tree is so lush and full and the pop of the silver embossed garland is great! CASE-ing this one too. At this rate, I won’t have to design anything of my own anymore! LOL 🙂 Have an awesome day, Justin and thanks for sharing this gorgeous card.

  9. Oh now you’ve gone and done it……..I have to start thinking about my Christmas cards. LOL Mossy Meadow is such a deep rich color for the holidays. It pairs so nicely with Cherry Cobbler. I agree 100% with Brian’s comment.

  11. Awesome cards, love those deep rich Christmas colors, although I do not want Christmas yet. I really like that on point embossing folder, in the catty I wasn’t impressed but nw I’m having second thoughts. The embossed garland is a WOW! on your second card.

I’m off f work tomorrow, YES!!! Going to a scrapbook/stamping expo, celebrating my new freedom since all three sons are off to college.

    take care

    • Thank you Linda! None of us want Christmas yet, but it’s coming no matter what we do! The EF is pretty cool, I can see using it for other things too. I hate that you can’t see the silver so well in the pictures, I need to work on my photo skills!
Oooh! Lucky you! That sounds like a great time!! I’m jealous! I hope you had an awesome time!! 🙂

  12. Hi Justin,
This is such a pretty Christmas Card! I even like it in the traditional colors. I really like the embossing folder with it, it really adds a lot to the card. You always do such a great job with having everything have its perfect place on the card, you really know how to add that visual interest. I actually have started to think, just think, about my cards for this year…I thought I had a plan but I keep changing my mind every time I look at the holiday catalog!

8 hours of sleep in three days! Oh my! Just reading that makes me tired! You needed your sleep, I am glad you were able to catch up a bit. I find the older I get, the less sleep I require. I still like to sleep in, but I can function with a lot less sleep now. I see more of the sunrise than I care to some days!

I hope your Friday is a good one, after all it is FRIDAY! how can it not be?!

    • Hello Donna!
Thank you! I’m not a red and green guy but I am loving the Mossy Meadow! I do try to take the time to make sure that I think everything goes where it should, I’m glad that you feel I’m successful! Your reasoning is why I thought why not get started early?! That way I have a variety!
Yeah, the lack of sleep is a bad idea! I usually only get around 5 a night but apparently 4 just isn’t enough! I too find that I need less, but I have never been a big sleeper, it seems a waste of time to me.
Friday is always a good day because I know that at 4:30 I’m done for two days! 🙂

  14. Just a little note, Justin—when I click on your name on the Paper Craft Crew, it takes me to your January 16th, 2013 post which is also Paper Craft Crew but the wrong challenge. Nevertheless, I found your current post.

I love your card! That Festival of Trees stamp set and punch are great, aren’t they? I think what I like best about your card is the strong, vivid colours—and also the background embossing. TFS

    • Thank you Heidi, I’ll let the appropriate person know to fix it! I’m so glad that you like the card! The festival of tress is great, I’m loving the photopolymer! The Mossy Meadow works really well with the Cherry Cobbler, like they were meant for each other! Have a wonderful day! 🙂

  15. Justin, Great card! I have this set and have been itching to start playing with it. My niece is getting married in Nov and I’ve been so busy making shower favors, shower invitations, wedding invitations and OMG I just remembered I have to make a set of thank you’s for her by next week. You can see why I haven’t been able to play with my Christmas stuff. But soon……..
    Thanks for sharing!
