Pals Paper Arts 218

Posted on

Happy Friday my friends! TGIF for sure! It was another extremely busy day at work yesterday but I did manage to get all the things done that I wanted to. After work I had some dinner with my parents and then came home and sat outside and went though my comments and email just enjoying the nice evening. Around 7:30 I got a text from my friend Chantal asking if I was up for a rescue mission. I said sure why not. Apparently the trains were all delayed and some cancelled so she got on a train the let her off at the station by my house. I went over and picked her up and she asked if she could see my apartment and I said of course! We came back to my house and I gave her the “grand tour”, LOL! I haven’t see Chantal in a while so we spent some much needed time catching up. I showed her some pictures of Daniel and she some of her granddaughter Chloe. I drove her home around 10:00 and played some Sam Smith for her, she hadn’t heard him! When we got to her house she said that she would be going inside and downloading his album immediately. She also said that she hasn’t had any new music in a while and that was because she hadn’t seen me! It was such a nice surprise to get to rescue her and spend some time together. Love when things like that happen!

Speaking of Daniel, my brother took this super cute picture of him the other day, I just love the cap and his amazing little smile!

After I got back from dropping off Chantal I decided that I needed to make my Pals Paper Arts card for this week’s color challenge…

PPA 218

I had an idea in my head as to what I wanted to do so I set out to see if I could make it happen! My card today is a bit longer than usual, it measures 6″ by 4 1/4″. The base is Crumb Caked Card Stock and so is the background that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I decide that I wanted to make a dreamcatcher. I used my Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Coaster Board and a piece of Hello Honey. Some Linen Thread is looped around the Coaster Board randomly, I wanted it have a simple handmade look, I used the piece of Hello Honey to cover the top. My feathers are from the Four Feathers Stamp Set and are heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Blackberry Bliss. I also cut some out of Brushed Gold and adhered them off to the side behind the Blackberry Bliss ones. Some more Linen Thread ties them to the hoop. The greeting is from the “Vintage” Loving Thoughts Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. Stampin’ Dimensional pieces adhere it to the hoop. A few sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim are adhered to the Linen Thread in the hoop and a piece of Post-It Tape holds the string around the back of the card just in case the recipient wants to take it off and hang it. I just can’t stop heat embossing lately can I?! I’m loving the texture that it gives to images and greetings! So there is my late night card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. I had fun making the card and I hope that you enjoy it! Thank you for sharing my day with me and I hope you enjoy your Friday! 🙂

  4. You’ll be able to catch some mighty fine dreams in your card. Like the gold embossed dream. The natural/rustic star (that’s what I see) is so so clever. Also adding the sequins will most definitely help catch your dreams. Your unexpected surprise with Chantal, well what better way to end your day. That little man Daniel, he is quite the charmer! Watch out ladies! Looks like he’ll be a ‘hat’ man, he wears it well. Have a super weekend Justin.

Love when stuff like that happens! I just want to squeeze little Daniel! He does wear that hat quite well! You have a fantastic weekend too my friend! 🙂

  7. Hi Justin and Happy Friday! Sounds like a fun evening catching up with a friend. And oh my—that pic of little Daniel is soooo cute! Love the hat! This is an awesome card! You are so clever! It looks like it took a lot of time to put together. Great colors (my favorite combo of late) and I see that same star that Lisa does with your thread. Such a great card! Hope your day isn’t as busy as the rest of them were this week. Yay for the weekend! Have a fabulous day!

    • Hello Karen!
Yes, I had a great time with Chantal! I thought that Daniel’s hat was great but the wagon was just too cute! It did take a bit of time and I don’t love the center but it’s a first run! You are very kind! Today was a killer! But tomorrow will be loads of fun! Hope you had a nice Friday! 🙂

  9. OMG! A Dream Catcher! Wow! Only you would be able to see this in your mind and put it together. I haven’t seen a dream catcher in quite a long time. My son used to make them when he was young. This is a most beautiful card. Thank you once again for sharing. Have a most terrific Friday! That little Daniel is a doll. Nancy B

Could this whole post get any cuter! The little man steals the show of course… what a cutie. And he will be able to catch all his dreams with that very clever dream catcher. Mom very often had one hanging in the front window. Your card is quite pretty…. but Daniel is just so adorable and what a great smile. Happy little guy. Have yourself a great Friday!

  17. First of all, if they ever want to leave Daniel for a week so they can go on vacation – bring him to Maine and we will take excellent care of him and have so much fun doing it! LOL He is just a charmer from the git’ go as they say here.

Love the card and the fact that you made your own dream catcher. AND to top that off you made it by going through those itsy bitsy holes on the sequins. Wowzer! You have the patience of a saint, I swear. How long did it take you to make this particular card start to finish? And boy, aren’t those feathers just the cat’s meow (rhetorical)! Can you guess that I loved this card?

What a great friend you are Justin and that is why you have such great friends. I think it’s fabulous that everyone in your circle helps each other whether they are asked to or not. This is just wonderful. By the way,,,,,,,,a little birdie told me someone special is having a birthday next Friday…….who could it be? Who could it be?

    • Ha ha! I will be sure and tell them Grace! He is such a good little bit too, you might have a hard time giving him back! He has such an expressive little face! I know I’m biased, but I just think he’s the best!
The card took about an hour to make. I need to make another one and try for a more uniform center! I’m so happy that you love the card! That makes me very happy!
I love my friends! They are always there for me so I am always there for them! I’m very lucky to have the people that I have and wouldn’t trade them for anything! He he! Yes, someone is having a birthday, I think I may know him! LOL!
I hope that you enjoyed your day my friend! 🙂

  19. Hi Justin, what a great idea for a card design and it worked! I love dream catchers and to see one on a card is really special. Speaking of special, Daniel is just adorable. I, too am a Sam Smith fan and have been listening to his album almost every day….when I find music I like, I tend to really exhaust it. Hope he comes out with another soon. Have a good night.

  25. Love Daniel’s blue eyes. Wow! And this is the 1st dream catcher card I have ever seen. It’s the bomb. Now I have something special to tell you: I saw Sam Smith on SNL, and I was dumbfounded listening to him and I realized I was crying because his voice is so amazing. Silly, I know, but it was in your blog that I first heard of him, so thank you.

    • Thanks Georgie, he’s a cutie pie! Thanks, I had fun making the dream catcher and will try another one with a more structured center in the future. YEAH!!!! I’m so happy to hear that you loved him!! I think he is one of the most talented people I have ever heard in my life! You can feel the emotion when he sings! And crying is not silly, it means that it struck chord with you. His album is my life in 43 minutes, I have cried at some of his songs. I’m really happy to hear that you like him!! 🙂
