Yesterday was just another day, nothing exciting to report. Work was work. I did stop by and see Brian and Kim last night. Brian was nice enough to go and get Carvel. I haven’t had that in forever! Some vanilla soft serve with whipped cream and colored sprinkles. YUM! We are supposed get some rain today and it’s supposed to be in the 80’s. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice and that’s good because we are having a little get together at Brian and Kim’s for someone’s birthday! Wonder who it could be?!

My post for today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge from Julee Tilman…

Mojo362

I decided to use some colors that I don’t usually use together, I’m loving the Kraft Card Stock and I wanted to see how it would look with Blushing Bride. For my card base I used a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock and I adhered a piece of Kraft Card Stock to cover the entire front. I have been doing that a lot lately, i saves from having to line the inside of the card. The panel in the middle is Blushing Bride and I embossed it with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the main panel I used a piece of Basic Black and a strip of the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper. Across the top is a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon that I cut the edges off of and pulled some threads out. It’s adhered with Fast Fuze. A piece of Gold Baker’s Twine is adhered around the back with some Sticky Strip over the top of the burlap. The feathers (yes, there they are again!) are from the Four Feathers Stamp Set and are heat embossed with Blushing Bride Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum Card Stock and cut out with the Feathers Framelits. I tucked them under the greeting which is from the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I cut it and a piece of Kraft out with the Bitty Banners Framelits and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My butterfly is from Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set and is also heat embossed with Blushing Bride Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum, a glue dot holds him in place. The panel is adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals and that completes the card. I love the Kraft, Blushing Bride and Basic Black together. Along with the Burlap it gives the card a nice earthy feel. So that’s my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch., I hope that you enjoyed it and I thank you, as always, for coming by to see me. Enjoy your Thursday peeps, we are almost there! 🙂

This is just beautiful! I love the softness of it paired with the burlap ribbon, it is just perfect! I love that we have blushing bride embossing powder, and it adds so much to this card. Really great card Justin.
I think we are supposed to get rain today also. Right now, as I sit outside with my coffee, it is very overcast and gloomy.
I had my daughter bring up my blendabilities so that can play around with some stamped images that I had pre stamped. I need to have that creative outlet, I have been going stir crazy this past week!
Mmmmmmm, who’s birthday could be coming up? Hehehe! I can’t imagine who?
I hope your day before the big day is a great one!

    • Hey Donna,
Thanks very much! If I want to use pink I always choose Blushing Bride, it a more muted one and I love it with the Kraft and Black! I always want use the Burlap Ribbon but I finds it very big, until you start removing some of it! We were supposed to get rain but didn’t, I’m good with that!
I would need the creative outlet too! I do so love coloring, I find it quite therapeutic, just like fussy cutting! LOL! Yes, I wonder who’s birthday it could be?! I had a good day and a great evening and hope that your road to recovery continues! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin, again your combination of different elements just works! I really like the stamped and embossed vellum. This card is so pleasing as well as interesting. I have yet to master the fast fuse…already ruined two of them. Who knew there would be such as learning curve for adhesive..or must just be me! Have a wonderful day.

    • Hello Roseanne!
Thanks very much! I love sitting down and picking my starting point and seeing the card “grow”. The creative process is definitely my favorite thing in the whole world! The Fast Fuse is tricky but if you remember to “check” at the end it is usually ok! Hope your day was a good one! 🙂

  8. Hi Justin. You always find such a great way to use the feathers. You have inspired me to emboss on some vellum today too. Another wonderful, artfully done card.
I am listening to some Sam Smith today-wow he is talented!
We had a 100 year flood here in Phoenix on Monday-it was unbelievable. The water has finally receded from my yard and I was able to get out and do some clean up.
Hoping for great weather for your big day!

I saw all of the flooding that you are having there. It’s terrible. Mother nature has not been very nice lately has she?! I hope that you had a nice day and got all of your stuff done and squeezed in some crafty time! 🙂

Fall is defintely here in the burbs of the Windy city, 48 as I was driving to work. Beats the humidity but I DREAD winter. Enjoy your weather while you can

    Enjoy your big day!
