Fab Friday 51

Posted on

Woo hoo! It’s Friday peeps and I had a great day yesterday! Work was not too bad again, and I got a lot done! After work Andrew and I headed to the Apple Store in Manhasset because it said online that still had some iPhones in stock. We got there around 6:20 and by 7:00 I had a brand new iPhone 6 Space Gray in my hands! Woo hoo! I was looking at the 6 Plus but it’s just way too big. I would like to put it in my pocket and the Plus just won’t fit! LOL! After Apple we went to Friday’s for dinner, I know, I was just there but it’s close and the food is pretty good! I spent the rest of the evening playing with my new toy! I’m really loving it! A nice upgrade and I can’t wait until they enable the Apple Pay System next month!

As chance would have it it’s also a Fab Friday and this week we have a neat little sketch for you…

Fab Fri 51 9-12-2014

I actually made this card two weeks ago by accident. I did the wrong week for the challenge! LOL! Like I said, such a dunce sometimes! Anyway, my card today starts with a base of Very Vanilla Card Stock and I adhered a piece of Kraft Card Stock to the entire card front. The circle is another piece of Very Vanilla that I punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and then ran it through the Big Shot with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I sponged on some Crumb Cake Ink to bring out the grain and then adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My flower is from the Bloom with Hope Host Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum Card Stock and cut it out with my Paper Snips. I used my Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color in the back side and then adhered it to the circle with Multi-Purpose Glue. The bird is from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede and cut out with my Paper Snips too. I stamped my greeting from the And Many More Stamp Set in Soft Suede on an Essentials Wooden Element. The heart is also one and is colored in with my Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker. Under the circle is a piece of 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon. On top of that I stamped one of the feathers from the Four Feathers Stamp Set in Lost Lagoon on a piece of Pool Party and cut it out with the Feathers Framelits. Finally a piece of Gold Sequin Trim is tucked under the circle and completes the card. I love the eclectic mix of colors and elements and I’m also really liking the vellum flower colored in on the back with the Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. So there is my Design Team card for the Fab Friday sketch challenge. Don’t forget to take a minute to stop by the blog and see this week’s other projects and put one of yours in the gallery so we can take a peek! I hope that you enjoyed the card and that you Friday is truly fabulous!! 🙂

  3. Hey Justin . . . great card. Love all the textures. I think the heart is my favorite. It is there, but not hitting you in the face like a Valentine’s heart.
Funny that you did this card two weeks ago.

You are very funny with your iPhone6! I just updated my 4S to the IOS8 and now there is already an update for that! (I do have to say the battery dies about twice a day now.)

    • Hello Nancy!
Thank you! Yes, I like the subtlety of the heart too! I wash;t paying close attention when I looked at the sketch date! LOL!
I do love to be up on the technology!! They have updates often when they first release a new OS. My battery dies twice a day too! 🙂

  4. Hi Justin:
I’m so far out of touch that I still have my original flip phone. I looked at iPhones and couldn’t even figure out how to turn them on. I hate that everything is in icons instead of words because they don’t make sense to me. Aging in this electronics decade isn’t easy! LOL If some symbol shows up on my dashboard I have to pull over and take out the car manual.
Thankfully, I don’t need a manual to enjoy looking at your creations. You have really managed to find amazing ways to feature the gold sequins. The only place I ever used them before was on dance costumes! 🙂
    Have yourself a fabulous Friday!

    • Hi Grace,
You are not the only person that still had a flip phone that I know. My parents however both have iPhone and both text and email, I’m pretty impressed that they do! Not all of us are electronically inclined and that’s fine!
I’m so happy that my creations are nice and easy to enjoy! Thank you! I do enjoy those sequins! I’ll bet they looked great on your dance costumes though! I had a great and as you can see by my reply, late Friday. I hope that you had a good Friday! 🙂

  7. Hi Justin, a fab card for a fab friday. I really love the feather in between the cotton ribbon and gold sequin trim, always room for a bit of bling. LOL!
I’m glad to hear that you got your new iPhone and love it. I saw them both the other day and thought wow! I still have the iPhone 3, don’t laugh! Now I am thinking about getting the iPhone 6 and probably about time too! Have you had a look at the watch? Sounds very 007.
Have a fun weekend and take care.

Thanks! I really love the simplicity of the sketch, left it open to so much! Everything is better with bling! I am really enjoying the new iPhone! The plus was just way too big! I don’t have pockets that big! LOL! I think it’s great that you still have an iPhone 3, shows how well made they are! You will enjoy the 6, it’s a huge upgrade from why you have now! I can’t wait for the watch! I am thinking 007 too!
You enjoy your weekend as well!
