Well, I’m glad that Wednesday is behind us! That was a long day indeed! I got home around 10:15, way too long of a day. For as long as it was it wasn’t too bad of a day. It was really windy here yesterday again and didn’t feel very spring like and today promises more of the same. One day Spring will finally get here and stay, I hope! Today will be a good day and tomorrow will be even better, hopeful I will get to sneak out a little early. I didn’t get to go the airport yesterday to set up the TV, they need to get some kind of variance for the space so we have to wait for that first. Always something to cause a delay, but that’s just the way it goes! How are things by you? Hopefully all is well! :-)

Today my post is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge from Julee Tilman…

Mojo342

For some reason, I had an inner need to use the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper on today’s card. The base of my card is Basic Black Card Stock and my background and strip of paper down the middle (which is backed with a piece of Strawberry Slush) are both from the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper Pack. Next up is a strip of Basic Gray that I cut along the bottom edge with the Finishing Touches Edgelits. My square is a piece of Crushed Curry backed with a piece of Basic Black and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Starburst Sayings Stamp Set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut out with the Starburst Framelits and that, too, is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The arrow is a piece of Strawberry Slush that I cut out with one of the elements from the Label Card Thinlits and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals as well. I’m a big fan of all of the geometric patterns in the Kaleidoscope DSP as well as the colors, they are nice and bright and who doesn’t need a little brightness in their day? I hope you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I always appreciate your visits and I hope your Thursday is a good one!

How are you all doing today? Midweek is always a good thing and I’m always much better by this point. Work, busy as always. I did have a nice evening. A little computer reformatting, some Friday’s with Andrew, not bad for a Tuesday. Tomorrow promises to be a long day. At some point during the day, I have to run out to MacArthur Airport and set up a television because we’re having an art exhibit there. And then tomorrow tonight is the dinner dance. 8 AM to around 10 PM, F-U-N! My boss Nancy knows of my crafty ways and shared a picture of the Easter table that her and her husband created for their niece and nephew for Easter. Nancy is a very nice person, and I’m not just saying that because she’s my boss, she really is a nice person. She loves those two little kids so much and I think by looking at the picture, you can see just how much she loves them by how much effort her and her husband put in to this project. Have a look for yourself…

photo

Those kids are going to have quite the sugar rush, huh?! LOL! That is A LOT of Peeps! Pretty impressive display though, don’t you think? I thought you would all enjoy that. And Nancy was quite proud of it, as she should be!

Today I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

PCCCS090 Sketch 4-23-2014

My card starts off with a base of Coastal Cabana Card Stock. For my background I used a piece of Soft Suede that I punched on the left side with the Chevron Border Punch and I slipped some Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper behind it before I adhered it to the card. My oval, greeting and flower with the stem all come from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set. The oval is stamped in Coastal Cabana and is cut out with the Ovals Collections Framelits (a little piece is hacked off the left side). I stamped the “Oh, Hello” on the oval in Soft Suede and mounted it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the flower, I used Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the stamp and cut it out with my Paper Snips. The flagged piece of Pear Pizzazz is stamped with a greeting from the Hip Notes Stamp Set in Soft Suede. The flower on the left is from the Petite Petals Stamp Set, stamped in Wisteria Wonder and punched out with the Petite Petals Punch. Finally, my arrow is from the Label Card Thinlits Dies and is cut out from a piece of Pear Pizzazz. I’m loving the funky mix of colors and I like the way that the Afternoon Picnic DSP peeks through the punched chevrons. There you have it, my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge! I hope you enjoyed it. Now take a minute to stop by the blog and see what the rest of the Design Team has done with the sketch. Don’t forget to participate so we can see what you do, too! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and I hope you have a happy Hump Day! :-)

Yesterday was a definitely a Monday! Work was busy and I had to go back after I left to set up one of the forums. So I left work, stopped by my parents, came home and let the dog out, Pinterested, went and set up for the forum and stopped at BJ’s on the way home. All of that was after 5 o’clock! What a day! I did manage to squeeze a card in last night because Wednesday, I’ll be at work from 8 AM until 10 PM. You’ve heard of the best week ever? This is definitely not it! LOL! I hope your Monday was much better than mine. Okay, enough whining. I did get a little present last night from Andrew…

Pretty neat huh?! If you would like one of your own you can get them HERE. They also have a Geeky Girl one! :-)

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for their “Featuring Flowers” challenge…

Roses_Bunch_Of_Flowers

I sat and looked at all of the flower stamp sets that I have (there are quite a few of them) and I settled on one that I haven’t used in a while. My card base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and my background consists of a piece of Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper on the left and a simple of Panel of Whisper White on the right. The white panel in the center has the greeting from the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set, stamped in Smoky Slate and my “stitching” is done with a Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker. The white background panel and the center panel are both adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flower and leaves are from the Stippled Blossoms Stamp Set, the flower is stamped in Crushed Curry and Smoky Slate, the leaves in Pear Pizzazz and Smoky Slate. They are cut out with my Paper Snips and also adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A relatively simple card but I think it has lots of impact. I also really like the subtle shadowing effect on the flower and the leaves with the Smoky Slate. I hope you enjoyed my card for the SUO Challenges “Featuring Flowers” challenge. Take some time to stop by the blog and see what the other designers have come up with and make a flowery card of your own for us to see! As always, your visit is greatly appreciated. I hope your Tuesday is terrific! :-)

I had a very relaxing Easter and hope that you had a nice one too! I spent the morning making some cards, did laundry and watched some movies. I got to FaceTime with my cousin Tracey in England and then spoke to my parents who are over there too. Boy do I wish I was over there! The last time I went was 2007, it has been far too long. I had a bad dinner last night, popcorn and jellybeans, it went with the movie! LOL! Saturday night I went to dinner with a group of friends and we had a great time. We haven’t all gotten together in a while so we had a lot to catch up on. All in all a very good weekend!

Today is Monday, back to work, but it’s also time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week we have a CAS Washi themed challenge for the lovely Nance…

Paper Players #192

I love the Washi tape that we have but I definitely don’t use it enough so I was happy to see this challenge. My card base is a simple piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock and I stamped the greeting from the A Dozen Thoughts right on the base in Baked Brown Sugar. The three pieces of Washi tape are from the Retro Fresh This & That Designer Washi Tape Collection. I used the Little Leaves Sizzlit to cut out some Coastal Cabana for my leaves and the flowers are form the Petite Petals Stamp Set. They are stamped in So Saffron and Tangerine Tango and punched out with the Petite Petals Punch. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them to the card and some Subtles and Brights Collection Candy Dots are in the middles. I love the colors in the Retro Fresh Collection and the Washi tape really does help to make a nice CAS card. Thank you for coming by to see my Paper Players CAS Washi challenge card for this week. Don’t forget about the Retired List and FREE Shipping Promotions! Have a great Monday! :-)

Control Freaks April Blog Tour

freakwelcome2013

It’s that time again! Welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour! This month our theme is Masculine/Gender Neutral. If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the talented Barb Mulikin’s blog, great projects right?! This month I have two cards and one fun project inspired by a video that I saw on YouTube for a box with a little twist!

My first card is a birthday card. For the base I used a piece of Soft Suede Card Stock. My background is a piece of Sahara Sand that I heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder using the World Map Background Stamp. To color in the land and sea I used my Sponge Daubers and Island Indigo and Gumball Green Ink. Before adhering it to the card I backed it with a piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock. All of the stamped images are from the Postage Collection Host(ess) Stamp Set and are stamped in Island Indigo, Gumball Green and Soft Suede. They are punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the way the background came out with the gold heat embossing and the sponged ink. I will definitely be doing that again!

CF April Blog Tour Global B'day-WM

CF April Blog Tour Global B'day Close-WM

For my second card I did a simple nautical themed one. The base is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I stamped the World Map Background Stamp in Basic Black on a piece of white cotton fabric and then cut it out with the Banners Framelits Dies. It’s adhered to the card with Sticky Strip. My ship is from The Open Sea Stamp Set and is also stamped in Basic Black on Soft Sky and cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. I slipped a piece of So Saffron behind it that I flagged on both ends before adhering it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Loving Thoughts Stamp Set. I really do enjoy using different things like fabric on a card, it adds so much with not much effort at all.

CF April Blog Tour Nautical B'day-WM

My final project is a fun box that has a little surprise inside. The box itself is created with a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock and my Envelope Punch Board. Like I said I watched a video on YouTube to get the dimensions. There is a piece of Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon that acts as a pull for the box. The sleeve is made from a piece of Early Espresso Core’dinations with a piece of Soho Subway Designer Series Paper on top. The greeting is from the Label Love Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and punched out with the Artisan Label Punch. I cut out a piece of Summer Starfruit with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits and embossed it with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Behind it is a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon that is flagged on the bottom. Sticky Strip and Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the pieces in place. Inside the box, with one on the front, are tickets from the You’re Amazing Stamp Set that are stamped in Island Indigo, Summer Starfruit and Crisp Cantaloupe. I used the Ticket Duo Builder Punch to punch them out and they are randomly adhered to each other and to the props with SNAIL. Sort of a neat box isn’t it with plenty of room for a gift card or a little special present.

Feather Grid Woodcut

Posted on

Yesterday was supposed to be the last chilly day for a while, today we are supposed to get into the lower 60s! Umm… it is spring right?! Work was pretty good today, I did get out a whole hour early! I stopped home and started a project and then Anthony and Bill came and picked me up to take me to dinner. We did end up going to Friday’s and had a different dessert, Salted Caramel Cake. It was quite delicious, not as sweet as the Tennessee Whiskey Cake but just as good. Anytime something comes with ice cream it has to be good right?! After dinner I stopped home and then went over to see Brian & Kim for a while. I finished off the evening by making a card, the best way to end the day!

My card for today is the card that I made last night. When I used my E-Cutter to cut out the Feathered Woodcuts I cut a bunch of them out so I have them ready to use on a project. The base of today’s card is Sahara Sand Card Stock. My background is a piece of Bermuda Bay and I wrapped a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape around the lower half and stamped the greeting from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set in Basic Black before adhering it to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I stamped the feather with Versa-Mark and heat embossed it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A piece of Linen Thread holds a Brights Designer Button to the feather and some more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. Not overly complicated but I love the gold embossing on the feather and the button is the perfect finishing touch! I hope that you enjoyed my card for today and that you have a fun Saturday. Thanks so much for checking in! :-)

Pals Paper Arts 200

Posted on

I know I say it every week, but boy am I happy that it’s Friday! There are rumors that we may get out of work early today. Let’s hope that holds true! It was cold and windy here again yesterday, I’d like to know where spring has gone. Tonight I’m supposed to go out to dinner with Anthony and Bill, we’ll probably do Friday’s because I have about 386 points on my Stripes card, which I think equates to all of us eating for free. LOL! I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s snippet of Satellite Lane. As soon as they get the edited video back from the videographer, I will post the link to that. What kind of plans do you all have to get your weekend started? Today’s post is a special one. It is the 200th Pals Paper Arts challenge! Woo-hoo! This week, the Pals have given us a sketch with a twist…

PPA 200

I got my April Paper Pumpkin Kit in the mail yesterday which I’m sure you have all seen since Stampin’ Up! posted the early video of it. That’s what I used for my greeting on today’s card. The base of the card is Real Red Card Stock and my two panels are both pieces of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack and both of them are backed with Whisper White. The top panel is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the bottom panel is adhered with SNAIL. Like I said, my greeting comes from this month’s Paper Pumpkin and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I cut it out with the Circles Collection Framelits and that too is adhered to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It needed a little something more, so I used the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and some Whisper White to punch out some flowers and gave them a little extra pop by sticking a rhinestone in the center of each one. I used the Stampin’ Pierce Mat and the Paper-Piercing Tool to shape the flowers and give them a nice three-dimensional look. As you can see, I’ve accepted both the sketch and the monochromatic challenge, which by the way, was the twist! I’ve been on a bit of a heat embossing kick lately, I’m just really liking the way it looks. The Photopolymer Stamps make a nice, crisp image, too. I hope you enjoyed my card for this week’s special 200th Pals Paper Arts challenge. Your visit, as always, is much appreciated! I hope your weekend gets off to a fantastic start to your weekend! :-)
