Fab Friday 49

Posted on

Hi everyone! It’s Friday!! You know how I feel about my Friday! I get to run some errands at work today too! It’s going to be a great Friday! Yesterday was as good as I made it! LOL! I came home and saw little Daniel for a bit. He just wants to go go go! I think that he will be walking in no time. He is so cute I can’t stand it! Last night was very good, it was Hunger Games – Catching Fire movie night with Andrew. I knew that he wouldn’t like the ending, it kind of leaves you hanging and he likes to have closure. But he had to see the movie and he did really like it! I told him only a few months until part one of the third book comes out. I will have to make sure that if we watch a series they are all available on iTunes from now on! I said it’s something to look forward to and now I’m guaranteed that we will see that one in the theater! :-)

Good news! It’s a Fab Friday challenge day too! This time around we have a sketch for you…

Fab Fri 49 8-29-2014

Fun and simple, I stayed really true to the sketch too! My card base for today’s card is Sahara Sand Card Stock and across the bottom is a strip of Crushed Curry that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two flagged strips are Basic Black and Tangerine Tango. I wrapped a piece of Basic Black Baker’s Twine around the card and tied it in a bow on the left side. The main panel is a piece of the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Basic Gray. My three happy little pumpkins are from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Tangerine Tango and Memento Tuxedo Black. The Fun Fall Framelits cut them out and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. After I put the card together I realized that I forgot a greeting! Thankfully the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set made it easy for me to stamp the greeting on the panel even though it was already adhered to the card! A fun fall card and the pumpkins are just the cutest aren’t they?! There is my Design Team card for this week’s Fab Friday sketch challenge and I hope that you enjoyed it! Head on over to the blog and see what my talented teammates have come up with to inspire you! Make sure that you take a little time and add your card to the gallery so we can see what you do! Thank you so much for coming by to visit with me today! I hope that your Friday is a very good one! :-)

Mojo 360 & Bonus!

Posted on

A very happy Thursday to all of my faithful blog readers! We are almost at the end of another week! I made yesterday a better day all around and it was made even better when I got home, I’ll get to that in a minute! I got what I wanted to get accomplished at work and smiled my way through the day. I took my own advice, it helped that I got to run a little errand and enjoy the convertible too! When I got home last night I sat down to go through Pinterest and guess what?! Stampin’ Up! repined my Mojo Monday card from last week! That put a smile on my face. You can see the Pin HERE and the post HERE. I also got my Control Freaks swaps back and that means that I get to share my card for that with you today! I absolutely love the cards today! I don’t usually say that but I think they are both neat! Another thing that should put a smile on all of your faces is that the 2014 Holiday Catalog is live today! Gather up your wish lists and go forth and order! One more thing, if you subscribe to a monthly Paper Pumpkin subscription by September 10th you will get 50% off your first two months! All you have to do is visit the Paper Pumpkin site by clicking HERE and enter in promo code HALFOFF2. As an added bonus I have an extra August Paper Pumpkin kit. If you subscribe by September 10th I’ll pick a name from the list of new subscribers on September 11th at random and ship you the kit that I have for FREE! The kits keep getting better and better, don’t miss out on this special offer to give them a try!

Let’s start today’s post off with my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

Mojo360

Tall and Skinny, we know how I love those! I wanted a clean but fun card so this is what I came up with. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. My background consists of a piece of Smoky Slate on the left and Lost Lagoon on the right. The panel in the middle begins with a piece of Soft Sky that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered to the card with SNAIL. On top of that is a piece of Whisper White with some All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper. I used the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut out the center and adhered it to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The “snow” and the snowflake are cut out in Silver Foil Sheet and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper using the Snowflake Card Thinlits. I mounted the silver “snow” to the woodgrain with itty bitty pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals and then used some Multi-Purpose Glue to adhere the Dazzling Diamonds on top but slightly lower. A strip of Silver Foil Sheet with a thin strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper goes across the lower portion and the snowflakes are adhered on top of one another to that. A few of the snowflakes from the Frosted Sequins are randomly adhered to the woodgrain and three of the silver ones in the lower right corner. I really love all of the sparkle with the blues and how the center panel just comes alive! The card has a lot of detail but I think was well worth it! I hope that you agree and that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge!

Now on to my card for the Control Freaks 2014 Holiday Catalog swap. I was siting in the Stampin’ Galley trying to think what I was going to make for my swap card. I was doing my usual taking out and putting back of goodies when I came across the Mustache Framelit. As I looked at it I started to see a mask. I then tried a few different ways to cut out the eye holes and settled on the tiny oval that comes with the Chalk Talk Framelits. The base of the card is Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of Tangelo Twist. I used the Confetti Stars Border Punch along the top edge before adhering it to the base. The mask is the Mustache Framelit. I stamped one of the feathers from the Four Feathers Stamp Set in Versa-Mark on Vellum Card Stock and heat embossed it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The Feathers Framelits are used to cut it and a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper out and a Glue Dot holds them to the back of the mask. I adhered the mask with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the greeting is from the Holiday Invitation Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I love the colors and the “mask” is just really neat! I think it would make a pretty cool Halloween party invite!

Control Freaks 2014 Holiday Catalog Swap-WM

I really hope that you enjoyed my swap card, I think it’s a fun card and I love that the mustache makes such a neat little mask! There is your double dose of cards for today! Thank you so much for coming by to see them! Have a thoroughly terrific Thursday! :-)

Paper Craft Crew 107 & The Puppies

Posted on

Mid week, yes, it’s nice to be here again. My day was all sorts of fun! LOL! Not really but what can ya do?! I found that rolling with it is a much better way to go than, well, all of the other ways one could go. I try to apply that to everything in my life, but sometimes it just doesn’t work. Life is all about experiences and learning and growing from them. I am successful most of the time but there is always one that I get caught up on. I’m getting better, but there is still work that needs to be done. Sorry about that, just a little stream of consciousness that slipped out! On a happier and lighter note here is that picture of Kim with all of the puppies!

Kim & The Wuppies

Aren’t they just adorable! Yes, Kim too! LOL! Daisy is the mom and then the dad is there and the two sons. One big happy family! They do so love Kim, their favorite thing to do is sit on her!

Hmm… let’s see… Wednesday… ahh yes, it Paper Craft Crew sketch time! Here is this week’s inspiration for you…

PCCCS107 8-27-2014

I didn’t follow it exactly but I did stay pretty true to it. For my base I used a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is two different pieces of paper from the Gold Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack. I used the Striped Scallop Thinlit to cut out some Gold Foil Sheet and adhered it to the background with some Multi-Purpose Glue. A strip of Calypso Coral with a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe Thick Baker’s Twine covers up the seam and top of the scallop. My greeting is from the Chalk Talk Stamp Set and is stamped in Garden Green and Calypso Coral. I used the Chalk Talk Framelits and the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch to cut them out. A piece of Pistachio Pudding cut out with the Oval Collection Framelits goes behind it and all of the layers are adhered to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the way the scallop pattern in the DSP mimics the Striped Scallop and is seen again in the DSP on the top half. I hope that you enjoyed my eclectic Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Make sure that you stop by the BLOG to see more inspiration and enter your card in the gallery so I can see your take! Thank you for coming by to see what’s going on in my little corner of the world, I love having you spend some time with me! Have a wonderful Wednesday peeps! :-)

SUO Challenges 104

So yes, that was definitely a Monday! Work was silly busy and I didn’t get all that I wanted to get accomplished done. Days like that happen and you just have to roll with them! I did go over and see the girls last night. Heather, Kim and I hung out on the bed and chatted and watched TV, I felt like a kid again! LOL! The little ones were we’ll behaved being entertained by their iPad. It really is amazing at how well little children use technology, it second nature to them! It never ceases to amaze me!

Before we get to today’s post I wanted to let you in on the Tuesday Specials from Stampin’ Up!…

Weekly Deals 8-26-2014 1

Weekly Deals 8-26-2014 2

Today my post is for the SUO Challenges Design Team and this time we have a Clean & Simple theme. I kept my card very clean and simple. The base of my card is Pistachio Pudding Card Stock. I took a piece of Whisper White and stamped two of the tree steps of the wreath from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* in Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding. The leaves that I stamped in Pistachio over the Cantaloupe turned a slightly darker shade of Cantaloupe. I fought that was sort of a neat effect. My greeting is from the Christmas Bliss Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also stamped in Pistachio Pudding. I adhered the stamped panel to the base and added a few Pistachio sequins from the 2013-2015 In-Color Sequin Assortment. Sometime you just need a quick, simple, mailable card and this one definitely fits the bill. I think I will make some more of these in different colors for some of my holiday cards! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the SUO Challenges Clean & Simple theme! Take a minute to go to the blog and see what the rest of the design team has for inspiration and enter your card in the gallery so we can see yours! As always, thank you for coming by to see me today! I hope that you all have a very nice Tuesday! :-)

Paper Players 210 & More Pics!

Posted on

I’m always so bummed when the weekend is over. They really do fly by when you are having a good time and I definitely had that! Yesterday I got some serious crafting time in which I always love! I ran some errands and relaxed a bit. Andrew came over last night and we had Five Guys Burgers for dinner and the watched the first Hunger Games. He hasn’t see them so we are going to watch the second one sometime this week. I knew that if he enjoyed Divergent he would like the Hunger Games and I was right! LOL! We have a nice long list of movies to get through, looking forward to it! I forgot to tell you yesterday that I would have some more pictures from my little trip into Manhattan for you today. The first two are from our lunch. We went to a new fast food place called Clark’s Standard. It was very yummy indeed! Here is a picture of the vanilla milkshake that I had a and the burger and onion rings that Kim had…

Clarks Milkshake

Clarks Burger and Rings

Let me tell you that milk shake was so thick you needed a vacuum to get it out, but it was delicious none the less! The last two pictures are of little miss Daisy and my best furry friend Hamlet…

Daisy

Hamlet

Daisy is a cute little Chihuahua and Hamlet is just a big furry ball of love! Doesn’t he look completely disinterested in having his picture taken?! He’s like “what do you think you are doing?!” I have one more of Kim and the four dogs but I’ll save that for later in the week.

So it’s Monday and the one good thing about that is that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week Jaydee has given us a sketch…

Paper Players #210

This was one of those that when I looked at sketch I knew just what I was going to do! My card base is a simple piece of Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Flower Pot Designer Series Paper. The circle in the middle is a piece of Whisper White and the frame is a piece of Blushing Bride that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. All of the stamped images are from the Garden Party Stamp Set. Some are stamped on the White in Lost Lagoon and Garden Green and some more are stamped in Blushing Bride and Garden Green, two are heat embossed on Tangerine Tango with Crushed Curry Stampin’ Emboss Powder and they are all cut out with my Paper Snips. For the flowers that I cut out I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them inside the circle. My greeting is from the same set and is also heat embossed on Lost Lagoon in Crushed Curry. Another flower is added to the greeting with a Stampin’ Dimensional and that’s my card! Even though the background is very busy I still really like it with the circle in the middle. I think that it helps brake it up somewhat. When I finished the card I realized that I only used one stamp set! That hardly ever happens! LOL! Oh, are you sick of the frames yet?! I think I have a few more to go! LOL! I really do hope that you like my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge. Thank you for stopping by to share in my day! I hope that we all have a good Monday! :-)

Wonderful Wisteria Lagoon Wreath and Manhattan!

Posted on

Well the rain held out all day yesterday and I had a lovely day in Manhattan! I got in around 8:10am and parked on 90th. For my walk over to the West Side through Central Park I popped in my headphones, it makes me walk faster which if you know anyone that has walked with me in the city is way too fast! LOL! I stopped along the Reservoir and snapped a few pictures. You can see how overcast it was but the sun did peek out a few times. You also don’t realize how big the Reservoir is until you walk around it! It looks more like a lake!

CP Resivoir 1

CP Resivoir 2

Pretty huge huh?! Much to Kim’s dismay I got to her around 8:45 instead of my estimated 10:00! LOL! I’m early for everything and she knows this but still doesn’t appreciate it! We had some coffee and then I realized that I forgot my wallet in my car. I have an aversion to wallets for some unknown reason and I tend to leave it in my backpack or car. I used to leave it at home but Andrew fixed that for me! Kim suggested that we walk back over and have breakfast at the diner that way I could get my wallet, sounded great to me so we did just that! After breakfast we wandered around and passed by this new cupcake shop called Sprinkles. From across the street we noticed that they had a Cupcake ATM!! WHAT!! Needless to say we ran over to it and I had to give it a try! You can see from the pictures my silly excitement at the prospect of a little door opening and revealing a delicious treat!!

Sprinkles ATM 1

Sprinkles ATM 2

Sprinkles ATM 3

Sprinkles Cupcake

It was Red Velvet and it was DELICIOUS! I split it with Kim and she agreed that it was quite tasty! We will be visiting the Cupcake ATM again don’t worry about that! LOL!

Now on to the crafty part of the post. I was running through card ideas in my head on the way home and I thought that Wisteria Wonder and Lost Lagoon might look nice together so I gave it a try! My card base for today is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Lost Lagoon and I heat embossed the sentiment from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My smoky Slate piece is cut on the bottom with the Ovals Collection Framelits for an interesting curve. The wreath is also from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* and is stamped in Wisteria Wonder and Lost Lagoon. I heat embossed the bow with more Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and used the Wonderful Wreath Framelits* to cut them out. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them to the card and a few of the Frosted Sequins* are adhered around the wreath with Multi-Purpose Glue. I actually really love the colors together and as many of you know I’m not a red and green holiday type of guy! I also like using the Oval to cut away part of the panel, odd but sort of cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for today along with my silly pictures from Manhattan! Thank you for checking in to see what I’ve been up to and have yourselves a super Sunday! :-)

Pals Paper Arts 216

Posted on

That was a nice Friday. Work was manageable and after I came home and crafted for a bit and then watched a little TV. I needed to unwind a bit. The week was a busy one but always worth it. This morning I’m off to see my friend Kim in Manhattan, hopefully the weather with hold out. It was supposed to rain here yesterday but it was just really cloudy. They say that it should clear up around mid-day if it does rain so that’s not too bad. Kim is puppy sitting at a friends on the west side so I’m hoping that I will be able to walk across Central Park. The last time I did that was with Andrew and it was dark and a little on the creepy side! What kinds of things do you all have going on this weekend?!

I decided that today would be Pals Paper Arts day. This week they have cooked up a fun sketch…

PPA 216

Pretty simple but I had some fun with it! The card base for today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Kraft Card Stock that I covered the entire card front with. The two panels are Whisper White on top and a piece of paper from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack on the bottom. I ran a piece of Hello Honey through the Big Shot with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit and used my Paper Snips to trim away some of it to make the strip. The flower is from the Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set and is stamped in Blushing Bride on Blushing Bride, I stamped it one last time in Hello Honey on Hello Honey for the center that I cut out with my Paper Snips. I punched both of the flowers out with the Fun Flower Punch and stacked them on top of one another with Stampin’ Dimensionals.Behind the flower is a piece of Mossy Meadow that I cut out with the Flower Frenzy Bigz L Die. Finally, my greeting is from the Honeycomb Hello Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on a piece of Whisper White that was left over from a previous Hexagon Hive. I love that just making the center of the flower a different color makes it look much more realistic and the way that Kraft somewhat grounds everything. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge! I love having you stop by and I hope that you have a Sumptuous Saturday! (Thanks Grace, LOL!) :-)
