Mojo 355 & Pals Paper Arts 212

Posted on

Yesterday was definitely a long day but not bad at all. The weather was nice, a little humid compared to what I’m used to in Salt Lake City, but nice. It wasn’t a bad day to be outside and later on in the evening there was a nice breeze. The golf event ended earlier that I thought, 9:00PM, so that was good. I came home and Heather stopped by for a bit and then I made my two cards for today. I was up much later than I had planned to be, but that is usually the case with me! Someone said that maybe I was still on Utah time and then someone else mentioned that maybe I was on Sydney time. Come to think of it after the flights on the way out last week I felt like I should have been in Australia! LOL! Yes, today I have two cards for you again, I wanted to get my Pals Paper Arts card in before the deadline! Plus, I always feel better after a little crafty time!

Before we got to the post here are Stampin’ Up! Weekly Deals…

Today’s post contains my cards for both Mojo Monday and Pals Paper Arts, We’ll take card of the Mojo Monday card first which is based on this sketch…

Mojo355

The card contains some more sneak peeks from the new Holiday Catalog! I know it’s a bit early to be thinking of the fall and Christmas but I love to play with some new goodies! To begin my card I used a base of Soft Suede Card Stock. My background is made up of a piece of Sahara Sand, I cut the right side with the Finishing Touches Edgelits,  then I embossed it with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and tucked a piece of Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper* underneath it on the right. The leaves and the greeting are from the For All Things Stamp Set* and are stamped in Old Olive, Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry for the leaves and Blackberry Bliss for the greeting. I cut it out with the Circles Collection Framelits and backed it with a piece of Blackberry Bliss cut out with the Starburst Framelits. The two flags are Mossy Meadow and Crushed Curry and a strip of adhesive cork takes the place of a piece of ribbon. The three acorns are also from the For All Things Stamp Set*. I stamped them in Soft Suede and cut them out with my Paper Snips. A few Stampin’ Dimensional pieces hold them in place. Like I said, I know it’s early but the stamps and DSP are just too much fun!

Mojo 355-WM

My second card for today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 212

A nice simple sketch which is handy when you are making a card at midnight! Crumb Cake Card Stock is the base for the card and the background is a piece of Typeset Designer Series Paper backed by a piece of Cherry Cobbler. A strip of Brushed Gold Card Stock is punched with the Hearts Border Punch and backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler and adhered across the top. The images and greeting are from the Groovy Love Stamp Set and are stamped in Cherry Cobbler, then punched out with the Sweetheart Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Definitely a nice simple card but fun none the less! I hope that you enjoyed my late night cards for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch and Pals Paper Arts sketch challenges. I always love spending a little time with you, thank you for stopping by and have a great Tuesday! :-)

Paper Players 205 & Freshly Made Sketches 145, Oh and more Pics!

Hello my friends! I am back home! My flight from Salt Lake City was uneventful, a welcome change from going out there! LOL! First, I apologize for not getting back to your comments in a timely manner, I did finish replying last night! Today is going to be a long one, we have our golf event at work and I’ll be there from 8:00am until 11:00pm. Kind of kills the week off! So, the last day of Convention was definitely the best day! I was randomly selected for a VIP Backstage Tour for me and three friends!! It was at 11:00am on Saturday and much to my delight Donna Griffith was our lovely tour guide! I took Wendy, Maggie and Brian with me. We got to see all of the goings on behind the scenes. Sterling and Sarah were in the green room so we got to say a quick hello to them. We also got to see Shelli who I have to say is one of the most genuine and sweetest people I have ever met. She chatted with us for a bit and then patiently posed with us through four mobile phones for pictures! We also had the pleasure of meeting the make-up artist, who’s name escapes me at the moment. She was great, very funny and beautiful! Here are a few pictures from out little adventure…

Shelli & the Gang

That’s the four of us with Shelli and the Production Manager.

JK Makeup

Me getting beatified! LOL!

Makeup Artist

The lovely master of making people look better than they really are!

Donna & I

The wonderful Donna, isn’t she a cutie?!

I really did have the best time at Convention. I will miss everyone but we’ll keep in touch and I can’t wait to see them all again!

Today I also have a double post! I needed to get my Freshly Made Sketches card in before the deadline and I also have my Monday mainstay, the Paper Players! First up is the Paper Players, they have a CAS Monochromatic challenge this week…

Paper Players #205

Did I need to see the feathers or the blues, nope! LOL! I started my card off with a base of Soft Sky Card Stock. The background is a piece of Whisper White and I stamped the leaves from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set in Soft Sky, Pool Party and Lost Lagoon. I spritzed it with some Lost Lagoon and Soft Sky before adhering it to the base. The tag is a piece of Coastal Cabana that I punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and stamped the burst, also from the Kinda Eclectic Set, in Coastal Cabana. To create the feathers I stamped the Love Who You Are Stamp in Soft Sky, Pool Party and Lost Lagoon on the same color card stock and cut them out with the leaf from the Flower Fair Framelits. A quick score down the middle and some notches created with the star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and they are done. The feathers were on one of Shelli’s cards during her presentation. They will have to do until I can get the new set from the Holiday Catalog! A pice of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon that I dyed with Bermuda Bay Ink is adhered across the bottom of the tag. A few scattered 2013-2015 In-Color Designer Sequins complete my card. I love the Kind of Eclectic Set and am so happy to have it now and the feathers are fun and simple to make!

Paper Players 205-WM

Next up is my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches #145

As soon as I saw the sketch I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to show you some goodies from the new Holiday Catalog! The base of this card is also Soft Sky and I used the Dotty Angles Photopolymer Stamp Set to stamp the dots in Soft Sky right on the base. The middle Panel is a piece of paper from the All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper* Pack backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. The wreath is from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* and is stamped in Pear Pizzaz, Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler. I cut out the wreath, bow (a piece of Red Glimmer Paper) and greeting (a piece of Gold Foil Sheet) using the Wonderful Wreath Framelits*. I assembled the wreath and then adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two more pieces of Red Glimmer Paper are flagged and adhered under the right side of the wreath. I LOVE the new wreath and Framelits, so cool! The photopolymer makes it so easy to line up the elements and blues are my favorite colors for Christmas! I really hope that you enjoyed the pictures and double dose of cards today for the Paper Players and Freshly Made Sketches! Thank you very much for checking in to see what I’m up to and enjoy your Monday! :-)

Control Freaks Convention Swap Blog Tour

Posted on

freakwelcome2013

Welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour Featuring our Convention swaps! I had the best time at Convention and it was amazing to see everyone in person for the swap!! If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the clever Mary Brown’s blog, now those were some great cards and that cute memo pad, WOW! This month I have two fun cards for you so let’s get to them!

My first card starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. For the background I used the Zig Zag Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on a piece of Real Red. A strip of Flashback Designer Series Paper goes down the left side. I used the On Film Framelits to cut out a piece of Pool Party and adhered a piece of Vellum to the back side. The greeting is from the Be the Star Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and punched out with the What’s Up Punch. Finally I stamped the Snapshot Stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black on Smoky Slate and used my Paper Snips to cut it out. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. A fun bright card that would make a great birthday or just because card for anyone!

CF Conv Swap 1-WM

My second card uses the fun Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Flower Fair Framelits. Isn’t it great when you have a matching Stamp Set and Framelits?! I started my card off with a base of Bermuda Bay Card Stock and for the background I used a piece of Pistachio Pudding that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is a piece of the Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper. The flower is stamped in Tangelo Twist and cut out with the Framelits, a Stampin’ Dimensional holds it in place. The greeting is also from the Flower Fair Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Crushed Curry. I used the Banner Punch to create my flag on the right. I love the fun colors in the Confetti Celebration DSP and like I said the Stamp Set and Framelits together make everything better!

CF Conv Swap 2-WM

So, what did you think of my Control Freaks Convention 2014 Swaps?! I hope that you enjoyed them! Now you are off to see what the clever Heidi Boos has in store for you! Enjoy the rest of the tour and thanks for stopping by! :-)

Framed Hello from the Heart

Day two of Convention is behind us and what a great day it was! The morning session was fun and informative. After that we kind of did what we wanted, nothing scheduled. I had lunch with Mary, Brian, Maggie, Nicole and her her husband Brian at Blue Lemon. After, I went to the Convention Store and got my new goodies from the Holiday Catalog, and then met up with the Control Freaks for our Convention Swap. I was lucky enough to be chosen to get a VIP Backstage tour today for me and three friends. Brian, Maggie and Wendy will be joining me! I’m excited for that and can’t wait! Last night was awards night and it was great to see everyone be recognized for their achievements. I even got to go up on stage and help with the reveal for the incentive trip for next year! Brian made Founders Circe, the first male demo ever to do that! The after party was great, it had a western theme and there was even a mechanical bull! I got to see Shelli and Sterling, such nice people. I also got to see Sarah and her husband Sean, we had a nice long chat and watched some people on the mechanical bull. Here are some more pictures tom yesterday!

Becky & Me

The lovely Beck Roberts and I after the Control Freaks swap!

Green Ball

There I am on stage for the incentive trip reveal, I’m the green ball on the right!

Brian P. & Me

Brian Pilling is quite the line dancer and a good sport. He helped me play a little joke on Maggie!

Shelli, Sterling & Me

Two of the nicest people that you could ever want to meet!

Sarah, Scott & Me

Sarah and her husband Scott are just awesome!

I say it all the time but the best part of Convention is seeing everyone!! It really is an amazing time!!

Today happens to be one of those days where I have a “just because” card. No challenge, no sketch, just for you! Today’s card uses the Groovy  Love Stamp Set. The card begins with a base of Crumb Cake Card Stock. My background is a piece of Blushing Bride that I stamped with the Dictionary Background Stamp in Crumb Cake, I really do love that stamp. It works for so many different things. My frame is a piece of Early Espresso Card Stock. I created the frame by cutting out a piece of paper and using the Squares Collection Framelits in the middle. Next up I used the Little Letters Thinlits to cut out the word “hello”. I popped it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it to the card. The three hearts and greeting are from the Groovy Love Stamp Set and are stamped in Cherry Cobbler. The hearts are punched out with the Sweetheart Punch and the greeting is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. They too are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really love the negative space created by the letter dies. More so than the letters themselves! LOL! I think it gives a fun dimension to the card. So there you have my “just because” card, just for you! I thank you for coming by and seeing what I’m up to! I hope that you are enjoying the pictures!! :-)

Happy Friday!! First day of Convention is done! I had an excellent day! I got to meet so many people and see lots of friends! I think that is definitely the best pat of convention! The opening session was great, Shelli was fantastic as always. Pam Morgan walked us through the new Holiday Catalog, we got out copy and you are going to love it! There are new feathers and framelits, more sequins and even some enamel dots!! LOL! I had a wonderful dinner with my friend Maggie at the Cheesecake Factory. After we had a great conversation with Robynn from the events department, such a fun lady! Here are some pictures for you…

How can Friday get any better?! Not only am I at Convention but it’s also time for the Fab Friday challenge. This time around, we have a color challenge for you…

Fab Fri 46 Colors 7-18-2014

The base of my card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock and the background is a piece of Whisper White that I offset in the lower left hand corner of the card. I rounded the top right corner with the Project Life Corner Rounder. A piece of Retro Fresh Washi Tape goes across the lower part of the card. My greeting is from the Hi There Stamp Set and is stamped in Strawberry Slush. My three feathers are from one of my favorite stamp sets, the A Happy Hooray Stamp Set. I heat embossed each one with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Daffodil Delight, Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana. They are cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A nice, simple, bright and cheery card using my favorite… feathers! I hope you enjoyed the card for today’s Fab Friday color challenge. Don’t forget to stop by the blog and see what my other talented Design Team-mates have come up and I think you should make a project and enter it in the gallery so we can see your take on it! Yesterday was a day that I won’t soon forget! LOL! After almost 24v hours of travel I finally arrived in Salt Lake City at 5:30 and my wonderful friend Wendy picked me up from the airport. How awesome to see a friendly face right away! I have to say that even though it was a long process it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. I met a very nice young man named Peter on the flight from NY to Austin and we chatted the entire flight. When we landed in Austin we got a cab and went to What a Burger to get some food. Went back to the airport and slept a little. He was on my flight to Long Beach too so it was great to have a friend to travel with. He headed off to LA from Long Beach but he said that he will come to NY one day and I’ll take him around and show him the town. Everything happens for a reason right?! Yes, it was a very long night/day but in the end it was all worth it! I have some pictures that I took from the plane to share with you…

These are the mountains that we flew over on the way into Long Beach…

And here is a shot of Long Beach on final approach…

This was my view when I was having Lunch…

Pretty neat huh?! I think that I will have to go back to Long Beach, it seemed like a very nice place to visit!

Now on to my card for today which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo354

Today’s card starts off with a base of Tangelo Twist Card Stock and the background is a piece of Pistachio Pudding that I embossed with the Tiny Triangles Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with the “Vintage” Film Strip Stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black. The panel on top of that is a piece of Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. I stamped the Snapshot Stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black on Smoky Slate Card Stock and backed it with a piece of Silver Foil Sheet that I cut out with the Starburst Framelits. My greeting is from the Hip Notes Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a piece of Strawberry Slush that I cut out with the File Tab Edgelits. I am loving the funky colors in the Confetti Celebration DSP and the pop of silver behind the camera is fun.

So where do I begin? Well, lets start with where I currently am, I’m in Austin, TX. I know you thought I was going to Salt Lake City, me too. Everything went rapidly downhill around 5:15 yesterday when I got the notification that my flight from New York to Salt Lake City had been cancelled. I immediately called JetBlue to see what I could do about rescheduling. Andrew called from his phone and I tried other things on mine. We were on hold for and hour before I got to speak to anyone. When I finally got through I was told that all flights for Wednesday and Thursday were full and they could refund my money for my outbound flight. Umm… nope! I asked to speak to a supervisor and explained that it was very important that I got to Salt Lake City the latest Wednesday afternoon. She tried about 20 different scenarios of me leaving from various cities and connecting through all different ones. We finally settled on NY to Austin, 6 hour layover, Austin to Long Beach, CA, 6 hour layover and finally Long Beach, CA to Salt Lake City arriving at 4:30PM. Yes, it’s the longest trip ever to get from NY to Salt Lake City but I will get there. I have had about an hour of sleep, if you notice any errors in my post let me know! LOL!

It’s Wednesday so that means I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch…

PCCCS102 7-16-2014

My card begins with a base of Basic Black Card Stock and the background consists of two sections. The one on the right is a piece of Crushed Curry Card Stock that I stamped with the Alphabet from the Tap Tap Tap Stamp Set in Crushed Curry. On the left is a piece of Flashback Designer Series Paper. The rest of the stamped images are also from the Tap Tap Tap Stamp Set. The notebook paper is stamped in Pool Party, the note flag is stamped in Real Red and for the typewriter I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black along with the greeting and colored it in using the Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. I really like the vintage feel of the stamp set and I think it pairs quite nicely with the Flashback DSP. I hope you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Please take a minute to go over to the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take on the sketch. I’ll hopefully have a much better rest of my day today, only a few more hours and I’ll be In Salt Lake City!! Thanks for coming along on this journey! LOL! Have great day and may all of your travels be direct and quick! :-)
