Pals Paper Arts 175

Posted on

It was a pretty good Friday yesterday. Work was crazy busy but I did go to dinner with Danielle and Anthony last night. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings and had some fried pickles which are quite yummy. It has been overcast here for the past couple of days but it hasn’t rained yet which is ok by me. I think we are actually supposed to see the sun later on today which will be nice. I’ll be going to Manhattan at some point this weekend, just not sure just when. I’ll also be working on a bunch of projects today which always makes me happy! What are you all doing this weekend?

Today’s card is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. Thanks to Kerry for choosing my card for her pick for last week’s color challenge. You can see my original post here and the Pals post here. This week we have another color challenge…

A nice subtle fall combination. The base of my card is Always Artichoke Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack. I stamped the greeting from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set in Cajun Craze right on the background. A square of Cajun Craze that I embossed with the Petals a Plenty Textured Impressions Embossing Folder creates the backdrop for the stamped image. Both of the images are form the Best of Flowers Stamp Set, the silhouette image is stamped in Always Artichoke and backed with the same color. I stamped the flower in Cajun Craze on So Saffron and punched it out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. A Subtles Designer Button adhered with a Mini Glue Dot completes the card. I love the patterns in the new DSP Stacks and having just the edges peek out from behind the background is a nice change. Thanks for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. I hope that you all have a productively fun Saturday! 🙂

  2. I love how you did the flowers and the how you used the colors! I also think I am going to use your layout its just fabulous!!! I took my sons out to lunch the other day and the place had deep fried Pickles and I asked my sons about them and they freaked out… so we did not get any, it does sound kind of weird but I was willing to try. I am glad to hear they are good so maybe I will try them next time. A while back I did try deep fried Oreo Cookies, they were kind of gross. Have you tried them? I don’t think the place I had them at cooked them right.

    • Thanks Shirley! Yes, the fries pickles were delish! I have had fries Oreos and I didn’t care for them either. I think the cream melts too much and just makes the inside mushy. Have a great day! 😉

  3. Fabulous card Justin. There is the perfect amount of Cajun Craze. Really, it makes the entire card Pop! I love that color combo, it reminds me of “happy”. Enjoy the city this weekend. I’m staying home and will prepare for my trip to CT next weekend to participate in the Walk for The Cure (for breast cancer) in Hartford on Sunday. I’m hoping to stay for a few days and maybe sneak into the city and catch a show while I’m there. Any recommendations?

    • Thank you Grace! There are so many good shows out right now. I would say that if you do come in maybe try the TKTS booth and see what’s available. Let me know if you come, I usually in the city on the weekend. 🙂

  10. Love this card, Justin! The button is perfect on your flower! I am so happy you used the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder. It has been my favorite for years but I don’t use it as often as I would like for fear it has a Christmas look; you have clearly demonstrated here that it has year round versatility! Thank you for playing at Pals Paper Arts this week.
PS This Saturday I have re-organized my craft space, but last Saturday I was in NY to see Phantom!
