Yesterday turned out just as planned! I went into Manhattan to take my friend Kim home and my friend Andrew (the one that made the card) came along. We had some lunch at the diner. After lunch we left Kim and headed Downtown. We made stops at the Apple Store 5th Avenue (The Cube) and then headed over to Park Avenue to walk over to Grand Central Terminal. The middle island in the street on Park Avenue has been host to some really great art. The following are pictures of two of the metal sculptures that are currently on display by artist Albert Paley. You can read more about him here.
The first one looks like a tree to me and the second one looks a little like a caterpillar. After that we stopped by the Apple Store in Grand Central and then took the subway down to Chinatown and wandered around there for a while. I was home by 8:00 and Taylor and I watched Now you See Me which was pretty good. Definitely a very good day!
My post for today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. This time we have a sketch from the MDS wonder Nicole Watt…
I love it! Nice and simple. I just got some new goodies so I decided to use them on my card. The base of the card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. The next layer is a piece of Brushed Silver Metallic Card Stock. The top panel is another piece of Midnight Muse and I used the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set and some Encore Metallic Silver ink to stamp the snowflakes. To give them a frosty look I heat embossed them with some Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The greeting is stamped in Midnight Muse on Sahara Sand and I flagged the right side. I really like the way the Encore Metallic Silver Ink looks with the Clear Embossing Powder over the top. Thank you for coming by today to see my Manhattan pictures and my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. I love to have you stop by and I hope you have a lovely Sunday! 🙂

I like this a lot Justin! Love the new stamp set, and the colors and layout are perfect.
Thank you Sandy! Nice and simple for a change! Have a great day! 🙂
HI Justin-great card. Love the simplicity! Thanks for the pics…the colors in the first sculpture would be great card colors…espresso, curry and pop of either pacific or indigo. Thanks for sharing, enjoy your day!
Hi Karen,
Thank you! Yes, I agree with you about the colors! You have a great day too! 🙂
Justin, love the card. The Encore makes it so festive!! Take a closer look at the second sculpture. The one you think looks like a caterpillar. To me, it looks like scraps of whisper white cardstock left in the trash can next to my Big Shot, after I’ve been on a die cutting kick!! LOL
Thanks Jeanne! Yes! I see it too and that’s because right after you said that I looked in my trash and there it was! 🙂
Justin, this is such a classy card!! Great design!
Loved the pics of New York. I live in Jersey. You made me remember that I need to plan a trip to the city before the holiday craziness
Thank you Gerri! You should definitely come into the city after they set up the shops in Bryant Park! 🙂
I love your card. The script on those sentiments is so cute! I wish I could write like that! Thanks for sharing your pics, too. You are lucky to be so close to NYC!
Thanks Patti! Me too! I love being able to hop into the city! Have a great week! 🙂
Love the card, clean and simple but very wintery, and as I look outside I see SNOW! yuk!! I really like the sculptures, great inspiration of colour in the first. I agree with Jeanne, the second looks like my recycle box after I have been using punches or dies, perhaps the artist is a stamper?
Thanks Lynne! I don’t mind snow on a card but I don’t like it out of my window! Yes, maybe the artists is a stamper or his trash looks similar! 🙂
Very lovely simple card. Makes me reconsider those stamps too.
It’s funny last night at dinner with friends we were talking about planning a trip to NYC! Her daughter lives in Boston now so we could stop there then head on to NY and walk our little dogs in Central Park…. But you are right about waiting till decorations are set up!
Thanks Louise! I do love this set, I think it’s my favorite so far! Yes, the city is so nice, but there is nothing like after they set up the decorations! 🙂
Very pretty, Justin! And definitely no “blue” Christmas here!
Thanks Crystal! That’s good to hear! 🙂
Sometimes you can’t beat simple and beautiful. This is gorgeous, Justing.
Thanks Brian! 🙂
