Paper Players 176 & Peeks

Posted on

Now that was a fun and busy weekend! I spent most of the day yesterday catching up on projects and I’m much further along than I thought I would be but I still have much to do! It was a pretty nice day here, the sun even peeked out for a little while. First today, I want to wish my friend Brian King a very Happy Birthday today!! 🙂

On another note, I was outside last night and I took the picture below. It looks a little creepy no?!

Creepy 12-15-2013

For as good as the iPhone 5 camera is, night shots is not one of it’s strong suits! Kind of eerie though!

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week the super talented Sandy has given us a WOW (White on White) challenge…

Paper Players #176

I can’t remember the last time, if ever, I did a white on white card. The only card stock that I used on the card is Whisper White. I did emboss a piece with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder ** for the layer in between my base and front panel. Speaking of the front panel all of the stamped images and greeting are from the Happy Congratulations Stamp Set* and are stamped in Encore Gold Metallic except for the lanterns. The lanterns are heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum Card Stock and punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. I hid some Stampin’ Dimensionals behind them to adhere them to the card and give it a little more depth. I had a lot of fun making my White on White card for the challenge. The picture doesn’t really show how nice and shiny the lanterns are and how pretty the gold ink looks. Thank you for coming by to see me and my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. I hope you enjoyed my take on the challenge and that you have a very great Monday! 🙂

  2. Hi Justin! This is a very pretty card! I do love the white on white look. The lanterns are so pretty with the embossing! Your picture does look a little eery….It was a gorgeous night last night here with the full moon and not a cloud in the sky. Terribly cold, but pretty just the same. Have a great Monday! Best get on to the birthday boy’s blog and send him some bday greetings!

    • Hello Karen!
Thanks! I really did enjoy the white on white challenge! I had to take the picture because it was a little like a halloween scene! It’s very cold here too, but that’s the winter I guess! I hope that you have a great day too! 🙂

  4. On a warm summer night I can see these beauties swaying with the slightest breeze. This card makes for a magical setting for a wedding. White and gold simply beautiful. Like that you embossed the lanterns. This is a winner.

  6. I have never had success embossing vellum paper. There must be a trick to it. This is a very clever and beautiful card Justin and making lanterns out of the circle punch really emphasizes your creativity. I really love this card.

I think the photo actually came out great considering it was taken with an iPhone. I don’t know if the same photo taken with my digital camera would have come out any better. I like it because what is really outstanding is exactly what you were trying to capture, the moonlight coming through the clouds.

    Have a super day.

    • LOL! It is tricky to emboss on vellum, it does curl a little. Quickly removing the heat as soon as it’s set is helpful. Glad you like the card, thanks!
I thought the graininess of the picture added to it’s creepiness! Glad you like the picture too! Have an awesome day! 🙂
