Paper Craft Crew 105 & Bonus!

Posted on

Ahh yes… another fun filled day here on Long Island! Work was just the way I imagined it, nuts! Last minute event planning is always my favorite! NOT! It wasn’t a bad day weather wise, overcast and a bit windy but it didn’t rain until late last night and boy did it rain! I ran out to do a few errands and guess what I saw…

Rainbow

A perfect little rainbow! Well, if I could crop out the power lines and the building it would be perfect! LOL! So neat though! That brightened up my evening a bit! Before I get started with today’s post, Andrew stopped by and has a quick word for you all…

Hi there JK Cards readers! I was over at Justin’s house last night and he was telling me about how he hit his knee again. Of course, he then told me how you were all concerned about him and were badgering him to get to a doctor. I gave him two choices:

1) He can continue to not go to the doctor. If he does this and ends up hurting his knee further, I told him I will visit him in the hospital with chocolates, flowers, and balloons. Right after I give him all his sentiments, I’ll look him in the eyes and say, “I told you so!” (Don’t worry, I’ll mention that you all told him as well. LOL!)

2) If by the next time I come over he hasn’t gone to the doctor, I’m gonna slip a fun little pill into a cup of his coffee, throw him over my shoulder, carry him to the car, take him to the doctor for an evaluation, and get him back home before he’ll even remember what happened!

Let Justin know in the comments which option you think is better. Have a great day everyone! ๐Ÿ™‚

He’s the best friend anyone could ever want, isn’t he?!

I didn’t get to post Stampin’ Up!’s weekly deals yesterday so here they are…

Weekly Deals 8-12-2014 1

Weekly Deals 8-12-2014 2

Middle of the week, yes, it’s time for some Paper Craft Crew Design Team sketch goodness! Here is this week’s…

PCCCS105 8-13-2014

I stayed very true to the sketch and my inspiration was the cover of the annual catalog! The base of the card is Pistachio Pudding Card Stock. My background is a piece of Whisper White and I punched the bottom edge with the Confetti Stars Border Punch*. A strip of Maritime Designer Series Paper comes across from the left. The panel in the middle is a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe that I embossed with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder*. My two stars are cut out with the Stars Framelits. The back one is a piece of Vellum Card Stock that I bordered with a piece of Pistachio Pudding, the one in front is a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. They are both adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the And Many More Stamp Set and is stamped in Pistachio Pudding, I flagged the end and tucked it under the top star. Over in the upper right corner are three star sequins from the 2013-2015 In-Color Sequin Assortment. They each have a Basic Jewel Rhinestone in the middle. I love the soft colors and abundance of star goodness on the card and hope that you do too! And there you have my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Head on over to the BLOG and see what the other DT members have done for the sketch and get out your crafty tools and make one for us to see by entering it in the gallery! Thank you for coming by to see what I’ve been doing, I hope that you have a good Wednesday! Oh, you thought I forgot about the birthday card?!?! Nope, its at the end of the post, supplies and all! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Go. To. The. Doctor. Amen. That’s my final answer. No, you can’t phone a friend. Unless it’s Andrew.

  5. Hi Justin! Listen to your friends and go to the doc!! Love your cards for today—all those stars–Love those! And the color combo is delightful as well! I see you snuck in the vellum too. And the birthday day card is nice…love the gold touches! Have a good day—been hearing about the rain the LI is having–stay safe! Have a great day!

    • Hello Karen!
Yes, I know, I need to listen. Thank you very much! I had a lot of fun with the card and I love the soft colors! The stars, well they are just FUN! Glad you liked Erika’s card too! There was a lot of rain here, lots of flooding. I had a little water by the door and my card was a bit wet inside. I got off easy. I hoe that you had a nice day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Andrew – you are one terrific friend and I definitely vote for #2 because otherwise the stubborn one (can’t mention any names) will buck and holler and in general be whiney . This way you sneak in and get out and the problem is solved and the stubborn one (can’t mention any names) won’t even know it’s happened.

Justin – Isn’t it a lovely day? Aren’t you glad your friends never plot together? And oh, by the way, loved both cards!

    • LOLOLOLOL! You are too funny Grace!! Andrew had a feeling that #2 would be the most popular! And the best friends are the ones that plot together when its for your own good!
It was very wet here today! I so happy that you like both cards! I hope that your day was nice! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Hi Justin,
I love seeing rainbows! They always amaze me. That is a great picture! While I was traveling done to Florida, I went through a horrendous storm, the kind that you can’t see in front on your car, just as I was getting out of the storm, I looked to my left and there e was a double Rainbow. It was beautiful! I wanted so badly to pull over and take a picture but it was still raining so hard.

Andrew, I pick option 2! But we would love video of this! I am glad he has you a a great friend!

Justin, I hope your knee is feeling better today. But if it’s not, just take the drink that Andrew is offering! Lol

Now onto the cards, (now that I have almost written a book! ) You have me a all starry eyed! (I cost l couldn’t resist! Hehe!) This is over the top amazing! You definitely reached for the stars on this one! (I am on a roll now! ) I love all the detail on this card. And the colors are prefect! I love the border punched out, adds great texture. Really Justin, It is beautiful!

Now the birthday card! It is so pretty. I love the feathers over the sunburst, it is very striking. I am sure you sister-in-law loved it!

I think I am done with the novella now! I hope you have a great day today!

    • Hello Donna!
The rainbow was a nice surprise! I know the kind of rain that you are referring to, but there was a rainbow at the end so it was all good!
Andrew is the best isn’t he?! He was thinking that option 2 would be the favorite. I was thinking that a video would be requested! LOL!
The knee is actually feeling better, I honestly think that I bruised the bone. If there was something really wrong I wouldn’t be able to walk! LOL! Yeah, I may be a little leery if Andrew brings me a coffee!
LOL! I’m flattered that I made you starry eyed! LOL! You really are on a roll, but it’s great! I did enjoy putting the card together! You make it all worth it!
Erika did like her card, simple but elegant! I loved you novella! Thank you! I hope that you had a nice day my friend! ๐Ÿ™‚ XOXO

  8. Good Morning from rainy, stormy Phoenix. We had a monster monsoon storm last night and this morning we are having an extremely rare rainy day. What a nice break from our usual 100 degree plus weather! I love your rainbow- even with the wires and buildings.
Of course I am voting for option 2, I also want to see the video which should be promptly posted on UTube and will of course go viral!
I love both the cards, the stars theme is so creative. I just love the kinda ecclectic set and I can see that it has to come out of it’s box today!
Take care and looking forward to hearing about your doctor visit.

    • Hello from rainy wet Long Island Marty!
We had a lot of rain here, some places got 13 inches in a few hours. The rainbow really was a nice surprise, I had to take a picture!
Ha ha! Yup, I knew that I was done after I read what Andrew wrote! That would definitely be a funny video, almost as funny as the sneakers!
Thank you! I love the Kinda Eclectic set too, such neat stamps! Have a nice evening! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. I’m with Marty L…. we finally had a good rain here in Gilbert, AZ. All the other storms missed my neighborhood, and I missed hearing my little frogs that come out after a good rain, in the open area behind my house. So yay…. I got to sleep last night listening to them sing. OK, now on to your cards. Love them, as always. I think I’m going to have to get that star punch and the feather framelit bundle. Love it. Now let’s talk about your knee. Justin, I don’t know how old you are but…. as we get older, things happen and our bones get more brittle.. I’m with Andrew…and he’s right, (and you know he is). I broke my foot twisting my ankle just a bit, when I got off of my office chair and everyone said go to the doctor, and I didn’t because I was fine. Well it got worse and they all said it was broken, and it was. So please listen to Andrew. It takes some bones longer to heal so any time wasted is only going to prolong the injury. So, be thankful you have an awesome friend….and that he cares enough to make you go. So as much as we love you….we’re on Andrew’s side. ๐Ÿ™‚ We will all expect a full report after your visit…which I assume is this week. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Hey Bobbi!
I’m happy that you enjoyed your rain! The frogs must sound nice to fall asleep to! Thank you very much! The feathers are awesome and so are the stars! I’m not too old but yes, I know I should go, It does feel much better today, I can actually touch it so I think it’s on the mend! I know Andrew is right. I am very thankful for Andrew, he is the best! LOL! I will definitely keep you posted! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Hi Justin, I’m new to your blog and have been loving your creativity. I have to agree with your friend. Go to the Dr!! I myself fell and twisted my ankle at the end of March. It didn’t get better and after two weeks finally got an xray and of course, it was fractured. I had to wear a removable cushion cast for three months. Thankfully I didn’t need surgery. I’ll bet if I hadn’t waited so long to go to the Dr., my time in the cast would have been shorter. Just go! It’s better to know than to wait and do more damage.

    Take care, Josie

    • Hello Josie!
Welcome! I’m so glad to have you along! Yes, Andrew is pretty great and yes I should go to the Dr. I don’t want a cast! You are right, thank you for voicing you argument! Hope to see you again! Have a nice night! ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Okay you need to go to the doctor Justin, soon before you do any more damage and be in more pain. Nagging done from me for now! LOL! I do like the second choice that Andrew has given you though. A beautiful rainbow and card. Now go to doctor! Take care, Michelle ox

  13. Justin,
Those cards are beautiful! I love the feathers-amazing! And as for the stars, I can’t get enough of ’em right now. Love all of the texture you created with the star punch!
Rainbows are so beautiful no matter where they are! Thanks for sharing!

    Andrew,
I vote option 2 but please record it! Ha!!

  14. Hi there, typical man! Seeing that rainbow was a sign that you must go to the doctor about your knee. My typical man husband finally went to the orthopedist 4 months after hurting his knee and now we have more waiting for MRI results. Do not let it go. Andrew, you are a fantastic friend — just don’t hurt yourself carrying Justin out to the car and into the hospital!
As for your star card, Justin, it is terrific! Unfortunately, you are giving me too many delicious inklings into the new catalog. Fortunately, I love the accessories you are using here.
Wishing good thoughts for you as always,
    Nancy B

I’m glad that you like the card! Thank you! I hope that you had a good day my friend! ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Justin: go to the doctor already before you show up on one of those “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” commercials. We r telling u this only because we care and because you need to take care of your bones. BTW: super cards!

  16. Love both of your cards today!! And do listen to your friends about having the knee checked out… I would hate for you not to visit your friends in Atlanta just because you were too stubborn and let the knee get worse!!

  17. OMG! I love both. The first card is awesome, fantastic colors, love how you played with the layout, and i love those star framelits. Now the second card, YES!!!! I love those feathers, and embossing on velum, another trick I need to try. i really NEED that Electic stamp set.

Now for Andrew: Hard choice as a nurse I would love to tell my patients I told you so but I can’t, however i do utter it under my breath. and I certainly would not bring flowers and chocolate, he needs to be punished. However i would love to see a picture of you putting Justin on your shoulders and dragging him to the ER. HUM….. Choices

    • Thank you very much Linda! I like the colors in the first card, nice and soft! The stars are just so much fun! I love to use vellum and it does look pretty cool heat embossed! It killed me to wait until Convention to get the Kinda Eclectic set!
WOW! Punished!! Thats a little harsh! LOL! Andrew was definitely right about the choice you would make!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. Hi Justin,
The card with all the stars is great!! But I LOVE the feathers on the birthday card!! The sunburst/starburst (which is it?) behind the flowers is perfect. But its perfect almost anywhere you put it. Don’t you agree?

As for the knee, you know I have to say go to the Dr. However, I am just as reluctant as you when it comes to doctors. But Andrew is right.

    • Hello Gerri!
Thank you! I am partial to the feather card too, and you know why! I think that it’s a sunburst! I agree that it looks good pretty much anywhere! I’m just don’t enjoy the Dr., but yes you are all right! ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. Love your cards, just beautiful. Please go see a doctor about your knee. Better to go now and find out what the problem is than to continue being in pain. If Andrew has to put you over his shoulder, he may accidentally whack your knee on the way to the car or accidentally whack your head while getting you into the car. Then you’ll need to have your head examined and well, do you really want to go there? Just saying…… ;o)
