Paper Craft Crew 77

Posted on

So, I think I mentioned that we were supposed to get snow yesterday. They said it was supposed to start around 12:00, well it started at 8:00 and boy did it snow! There was about 5 inches on the ground when they let us out of work at 2:15. My usual 10 minute ride home was a leisurely 40 minutes. It was nice to get out of work early though because I came home and crafted the evening away! My boss called me and asked to put on the company website that we would have a delayed opening today at 12:00 which is very convenient because I’m taking Andrew to the airport this morning. Hopefully the roads will be cleared and it will be an uneventful trip. He is going to LA where it is warm and I’ll admit I’m a little jealous! 🙂

Today is Wednesday so that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This time around we have a fun simple sketch for you…

PCCCS077 1-22-2014

I was feeling nostalgic when I sat down to make my card so I dusted off an old favorite of mine! My card base is Very Vanilla Card Stock and the background is a piece of Chocolate Chip that I embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I keep using the reverse side of the folder, I like it better for some reason! My tag is created using the Angled Tag Topper Punch and the stamp is the “Vintage” Young Vermillion, I love the image, it’s so detailed and he looks great stamped in Chocolate Chip. The larger flag and the stars are Pistachio Pudding, the stars are punched out with the Merry Minis Punch pack and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and is also stamped in Chocolate Chip. The three banners are from the Banner Blast Stamp Set** and are stamped in Pistachio Pudding and punched out with the Banner Punch**. I really do still love that little bird and he looks right at home with the modern elements on the card. So there you have my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch. Don’t forget to visit the blog and check out this week’s other inspiration from the rest of the Design Team and enter your card in the gallery so I can see your masterpiece. Thank you for spending some time with me today, I hope that you have a good Wednesday! 🙂

  4. Beautiful card, Justin! I love the color combo, and, now I can say, after reading through the other comments, that what I would simply call “the bird” is a vermillion!! : )

  5. Hello Justin! This is a lovely card! I do really like the color combination and the bird…well, he makes me long for Spring! I love the way you added the new banner punch to this also. Very nice! Wondering how you are making out getting Andrew to the airport? They’ve been saying how so many flights have been canceled. So hopefully he’s on his way to some sun and warmth! Have a great day!

    • Hi Karen!
Thank you! Yes, the bird makes me think spring too, maybe that why I thought of him?! To speed up it’s arrival! The main roads were really good and I made it to the airport and back in 1 1/2 hours. Thanks for asking! His flight is till leaving, just late. I hope he gets off ok! Enjoy your day! 🙂

  6. Hi Justin – we were supposed to get 6″-10″ from this storm but it made a turn a we missed the bullet completely! Talk about lucking out!

Love the card and that EF is one of my favorites. The robin stamp is a great one to use because it encourages us all to look forward to spring. Even me, the Snow Queen, is ready for some sunshine and temperatures above 32!

Wishing you a wonderful day and wishing Andrew a safe and uneventful flight to LA.

    • Hello Grace!
Yes, I have your 10 inches and some more down here! You really did luck out! I too love the Arrows EF and the bird is my fave!! If you are the Snow Queen then I’m the Spring King! I’m ready for the 70’s again! Andrew tweeted from 38,000 feet so he’s ok so far! You have a lovely day too! 🙂

  7. Glad to hear you got Andrew to the airport safely. We have lots of ice with our 6 inches of snow and it’s 10 degrees! Grace, you are so lucky!
Justin, your card today is a refreshing color combination. Are you em-bossing or de-bossing with the Arrow folder?
I have been keeping our birds fed and this little fella on your card looks well fed and well rested. I hope you are too. Nancy B

    • Thanks Nancy! It took me less time to drive to the airport this morning than it did to get from work last night! I’m a little jealous of Grace too! I embossed but used the “back” side?! Does that make sense?! The little bird is a real cutie! I am fed but I am never rested! LOL! Have great day! 🙂

  8. Beautiful card Justin. Love that ‘vintage’ stamp stamp; that little bird is so pretty. And it is the side I use the EF too, I find it has more dimensions.

Bitterly cold here but no snow yet. Safe trip back home.

    • Thank you Louise! He is one of my favorites for sure! Yes, I agree with you completely about the EF too! I hope all of our weather warms up sooner rather than later! My airport trip was ok, at work now, soon to be home crafting! 🙂

  10. This is simply wonderful Justin. Chocolate Chip makes it masculine and Pistachio Pudding cozy soft. I have a large order coming Friday and the Arrow EB is included. I can’t wait! Hang in there the snow won’t last forever.

    • Thank you Lisa! Yes, I was going for a card that could be used for a masculine one too! I have some goodies coming on Friday too! I think the snow will be here for a while, it’s supposed to be freezing here for the next week or more and we are to get more snow on Saturday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday so far! I need to escape! 🙂
