Paper Craft Crew 104

Posted on

Hello my friends! How are you on our halfway point in the week?! I’m doing ok. Work was nutty again and to make it the perfect day I smashed my knee on the wooden are of a chair and it hurt so much I almost passed out! LOL! Not good, my knee is now twice it’s normal size. FUN! I’m sure that it will be worse by the end of today, sorry to whine but it really hurt! I got to see my brother, sister-in-law and little Daniel for dinner. He really is just the cutest little guy! His little smile made me forget all about my knee! Here is a little selfie of us…

Me & Daniel 8-05-2014

I’m making a silly face but Daniel looks too cute! LOL!

Wednesday… let’s see that means it’s Paper Craft Crew Design Team day! We have a nice simple sketch for you this week…

PCCCS104 Sketch 8-06-2014

I went for nice and clean with fun colors! The base of my card is Soft Sky Card Stock and I stamped one of the stamps from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Tangerine Tango twice on it. My fun hexagons are Tangerine Tango and are cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits. I Adhered them to a piece of Vellum Card Stock and then trimmed off the excess before adhering them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the A Happy Hooray Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the Hexagon Punch. The banners are Tangerine Tango and are punched out with the Banner Punch. Both the greeting and the banners are also adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the Tangerine Tango and the Soft Sky together with the pop of Early Espresso. I also like the way the hexagons float thanks to the Vellum! That’s my deign team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge, I hope that you enjoyed it! Stop by the blog to see what my teammates have done with the sketch and enter your creation for us to see! Oh, I almost forgot! My little friend in brown stopped by with a box of goodies so I had to make a little something! I did a fun tag, it’s after the supplies to be sure to scroll down and take a look! Thanks so much for your time today, I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

  3. Oh Justin:

Just reading about your knee hurt! Yikes. That’s 50 times worse than the pain of really stubbing a toe! Keep your eye on it and if the swelling doesn’t go down in a few days you better go see an orthopedic doctor. Don’t know how you did it but don’t be doing it again! We want you healthy and walking Manhattan for us.

I had to really go back and take a good look at your card to see the vellum that you mounted the hex pieces on. That must have taken a good bit of patience. I really like the clean look of the card and the banners do look like they are on a string, but an invisible one. I’ll have to keep that method in mind for sure.

The tag sure is a tease. I can’t wait to get the holiday catalog. It sounds like it’s going to be cute…………however, nothing can be as cute as little Daniel. He has the most amazing eyes and it’s easy to tell he loves his Uncle Justin.

Have yourself a wonderful Wednesday my friend. My girls are here from Connecticut and we are having a great time.

    • Yes Grace, it did not feel good at all! The swelling has gone down a little but it’s still a little hot when you touch it. It feels better today than it did yesterday and as long as I don’t hit it again it should be ok. I will be more careful!
The hexes were actually not too bad to mount. I used tweezers, as I do a lot. I like the banners without and string, the angle on the banners sort of mimics the hexes too!
I had a lot of fun making the tag! The Holiday catalog is just great! I love almost all of the stuff in it! I will admit that Daniel is just the cutest! Love him so much!
I didn’t have the best day, but you’ll find out about that tomorrow. I hope that you had a good day with your girls! 🙂

  4. That tag is adorable! You did great with the blendabilities markers. I’m on the fence with those or getting regular markers. Can you recommend one over the other or are they both good for different things?

  5. Hi Justin! Daniel is adorable!

Love the Hexagons on the vellum. Such a cool look. And your tag makes me want to get my hands on my Christmas order. Unfortunately, mine won’t get here till Monday. Not that I don’t have lots of new stamps from the new catalog…lol Thanks for sharing.

  7. I don’ t often comment, Justin, although I too enjoy your blog and all of your pictures! Really sorry about the knee, but understand how looking at that precious face could make you stop thinking about the hurt! And as usual, great take on tour card and tag. You could almost walk into that little house as inviting as you made it!! Are you coming to Atlanta the first week… Hope so!

Hi Justin, what an innovative way to use vellum. Tis card is really eye-catching. I love the tag and could envision so many ways to use it. Your nephew is adorable. There is something so special about spending time with babies, especially ones related to you.
Hope your knee feels better soon.

  10. Hey Justin, just wanted to say I love your card and tag. Both are really great. Take care of that knee, I had to wince when I read your post about hitting your knee. OUCH! Both of my knees that are bad, bad, bad. Not fun! If the swelling doesn’t go down soon please see a dr. Don’t end up hobbling around like a 90 year old like I do!

  11. Very cute, I love the effect of the hexagons on vellum. What a cutie, Daniel of course, and you. I have a son who passes out from any type of pain, Best time was when he hit his knee on the bench in church and hit the ground hard, made for a short sermon. LOL take care

    • Thank you Linda! The vellum is one of my favorite things to use! LOL! Daniel is a cutie in that picture, me… not so much, but thanks! LOL! I really did think I would pass out when I hit my knee! I had to go and hide! I don’t blame your son for passing out, makes it easier to deal with! 🙂

Hi Justin, I am Danielle from Mandurah in West Australia I am fairly new your blog only about a month but I must say you are one of my faves. I love what you do and reading about your life and of course little Daniel. So sorry to hear about your knee I know exactly what that feels like as I have done it myself and also that feeling of hurting sooooo much you nearly pass out it takes your breath away it hurts so much. I do hope it is ok sooner rather than later. I love your little trick of putting the hexagons onto vellum then cutting it out very clever. Well look forward to catching up again xxxx

  14. Hi Justin, I meant to tell you I am a Stampin Up Demo down here in Oz but do it only as a hobby. I am not very artistic and its taken me a long time to get to the level I am at now which I still don’t think is good enough to do a workshop. Mind you I couldn’t dream of giving up Stampin’ Up’ I love everything thing about it from the people I get to meet to Convention which I love going to down here. I am lucky enough to have a whole room to use at home for my crafting. I love looking at your work and hope you don’t mind me using some of your tips and tricks if not just say so no probs. I have been with SU since 2007 and hope to still be here in 2024 ha ha ha. Take care mate

Daniel is such a cutie! Hope your knee didn’t take too long to heal, Justin.

Love the way that you used the hexagon hive thinlit background. Thanks for the vellum tip! I was on the fence about the house stamp set, but you pushed me over. Your tag is quite charming!
